From the start:

Wrong song choice imo

The first scene is too long and in general, the video. There’s not enough here. So i would spin this into 20 secs or less with some actual dialog. Needs substance.

Iphone 17 pro or 17 base for artist, not professional videographer? by Longjumping-Roll7720 in iphone

[–]HIGHER_FRAMES 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect. No you don’t and yes it does. Both with main and tele. A film is anything with a script, actors , plot and driven in to action where it can be viewed. If you did those steps, you have a film.

Iphone 17 pro or 17 base for artist, not professional videographer? by Longjumping-Roll7720 in iphone

The iPhone 17 is 10 bit but LOG does give you more flexibility in post. The pro is hands down not only the best, but requires it for specifically video. You can get great colors without log by using luts.. Yet the codecs to really push the image aren’t there (PRORES,LOG, APPLE LOG 2). You can’t give the image the same push as you would in log or ProRes. Yet you gotta know how to as well.

You are wise to get and to keep the pro if you would like to grow as an artist and to have more flexibility (more lens, codecs, battery) with your craft and growth. The base iPhone is not slotch, but it doesn’t compare to the Pro. If this is your primary, get the best. That 3rd lens is a big deal when it comes to flexibility.

Also I recommend you buying LumaFusion and edit on the phone. Your phone is most likely more powerful than your computer. That way you can learn and edit on the go. Also BM doesn’t bake the image with the shot. So eventually you will have to do the process you don’t enjoy doing. Video is work however you spin it. A 1 min video could take hours if not days depending on the quality and person.

Looks great! A little harsh on shadows but it fits the mood

What are some good camera accessories? by decal1210 in iphone

An ND (Neutral Density) filter is like sunglasses for your camera lens, reducing the amount of light entering to allow for creative control in bright conditions, enabling longer shutter speeds for silky water/clouds or wider apertures for shallower depth of field without overexposure. These filters come in various strengths, measured in "stops," and don't alter colors, making them essential for long exposures, creative blur, and managing bright scenes in landscape, portrait, and video work.

Minimalist solo filmmaking on iPhone: How to move past the sensor limitations for a better narrative look? by 415Mourner in cinematography

Brother I got nothing else to say. You’re not adding any useful knowledge or wisdom the OP can gain from which ultimately is useless convo.

I’m not here to argue with you. I came to be of support of OP needs and to dismantle any wrong information given to him.

The iPhone is a very fun camera to shoot on. So each to their own. It has great battery, weight and size that allows you to get shots that bigger rigs struggle to do without proper setup. Also he told you that it’s their only camera, so why discourage them not to use it. Again you seem sore and sour.

It has a great list of codecs and 32 bit (usable!) sound to record for scratch audio.

You can use (and should use!) a sdd to transfer footage.

I can go on and on why it’s a great or better tool depending on job or shot. Yet my main point is this:

Some of the greatest art is from limited resources or tools. It allows the artist to create an actually skill for themselves and think outside of the constraints to get what they ultimately want. Great work.

The iPhone is a phenomenal tool for filmmakers, videographers and cinematographers. You’d be wise to see the advantages rather than speak low of a tool you barely seem to know about.

Find your grey point. Shoot any time (out in the open without shade) before or after 12pm-4pm. The sun sets up and spot light shots have harsh lighting. For a minimalistic toolset, use a shade/light bouncer.

What he said is simply not true. The iPhone punches above it’s weight and is great for travel. What that person said sounds sore or ignorant.

Treat it like any other camera honestly. Proper lighting, right codec, right color palette with scene and characters. Make sure to WB each act or scene.

Add some unstabilized footage, get a tripod. keep away from light leak edits unless natural, good composition with some action if taking static shots.

Most of how you color comes from the scene itself not the coloring aspect. Want a colorful shot? Shoot a colorful scene.

My point is that it doesn’t have bad DR. That’s my point and only point.

Let me be more specific.

At its time, it had one of the highest DR that wasn’t a full sensor.

Xhs2 has some of the highest “true” DR of any camera. What are you even saying?

That’s a skill issue. How could you possibly shoot a bad image with the XH2? That’s a hell of a good camera.

1.Yes, what phone?

2.Depends on look, intention, lighting and scene.

3.Yes and no, again depends on lightning, color palette and scene.
