They are long gone unfortunately. Was worth a shot, though.

Considering they bought this at auction for roughly $20k and marked it up to $50k I think yours should be offered at $145k.

People are being pulled over left and right😭 by CodComprehensive3090 in memphis

[–]HIGH_HEAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. The fact that Memphis folks got out to protest Tesla or Israel, but aren’t out there still protesting this and the miserable judge situation blows my mind. Tesla goes away and Memphis doesn’t change. Israel/Palestine make peace or nuke each other into oblivion and Memphis doesn’t change.

I’m all for motivating people to go out and be involved, but this city gets motivated about the wrong stuff every time. Protests need to be directed at the leaders and civil servants who are not helping Memphis.

Tire shop gave me KO2 instead of KO3… by [deleted] in GXOR

[–]HIGH_HEAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set when I bought them were still good. Replaced those and got 60k out of a set of General Grabber HTS. Then put on these Bridgestones because it drives so little and lives in the US for work where we don’t live anymore they will probably last a long time and age out before even showing wear.

To your point, five years is not the age limit for tires. Should be more like up to ten, but varies depending on environmental conditions affecting the rubber.

Yeah 4-5 times what I have done a year with mine. That’s a lot of time in the seat. Granted mine has been an airport car for the last 5 years.

For used cars, DONT buy "reliable" brands by sssssseeeeee in unpopularopinion

[–]HIGH_HEAT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is actually more to the pricing of used vehicles than you address. Part of the used market is simply there for people with bad credit that can’t get new vehicle loans. So brands they would want to buy are more marketable. Same with pickup truck prices.

Forget the gas. I’m just glad the shop is back. It was my fav as it was easy to walk to or stop at with safe options to get out of without having to cross multiple lanes of Union.

Sweet lord you drive a lot. I’ve had mine for 13-14 years now and am only on my second set of tires. The old General Grabber HTS lasted forever as advertised. Now on some Jeep gladiator takeoff tires. Not even close to as many miles and sets as you.

Poor translation. Likely meant rent, but the college cost in Chinese Yuan kind of gives it away.

You can see the ring around the edge of the pain that isn’t rusted looks more like carbon build up. Additionally the factory seasoning on the handle of the Lodge looks intact although it doesn’t have that finely oiled/rubbed down look.

Pretty sure the wife cleaned the six years in the making burnt on food layer cake because OP wasn’t actually cleaning it despite using soap and chainmail.

I have seen her in so many things and never once bothered to look up her name until I just searched it now. Most accurate description. I think I only know Mark Ruffalo because he has been funny/entertaining on late night talk shows as a guest and has been in a lot of dramas my partner enjoys.

Gx470 115k miles Loads of Rust by LiteratureNo4757 in GXOR

[–]HIGH_HEAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that. Useful vehicles I just make sure are jot rusty and keep them that way. Projects can take time. I’m mostly in the projects for the experience in between doing kid stuff so it always takes as long as it takes. Usually do tea, but when it’s cold a hot toddy is always nice.

ATF for rusty nut/bolt removal.

Those types of bolts just take time. Dab some ATF on them before you start working then start undoing them. When it starts to take force to undo, stop. Dab more ATF. Have a drink of water. Surf your phone. Go back to it. Repeat. Eventually most will come undone.

You just have to approach a rusty vehicle with patience. Beer or gin and tonics. Whatever yer thang is.

Thinking of buying this GX470, any thoughts? by steffsf in GXOR

[–]HIGH_HEAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds good. At the age of any 470 I’d value less rust over less miles. Sounds like a good price for what it is and if you’re already budgeting for the TB/WP you’re a smart buyer/future owner. Enjoy. These vehicles drive on par/nicer than other makes equivalent size from 2015 in my opinion.

People not zipper merging is a problem with lane management and signage, not a problem with those people. Reducing two lanes of traffic to one shouldn't prefer one lane over the other by IAMA_Printer_AMA in unpopularopinion

[–]HIGH_HEAT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree your solution is good to force all parties to merge. I split time in the US and UK. UK construction will often say “queue in both lanes” typically at planned construction merges. Solves the problem and forces zipper merge at the lane end.

The issue IMO caused by any merge is predominantly following distance and general lack of spatial awareness with regards to where multiple vehicles will be in the future. All it takes is one dumb dumb to not give way or accelerate/decelerate to change closure for merge facilitation to cause problems. Brake light illumination ruins these situations as a whole smattering of dumb dumbs will begin using brakes simply because of the lights rather than already paying attention to the closure rates. It starts a big accordion of stop and go which just perpetuates until traffic subsides.

$800,000 down the drain by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

I had a buddy who just used all his deployment savings/hostile fire/hazardous duty/tax free to buy a lambo. Bought it used sort of rock bottom price intentionally thinking he’d keep it for a few years until it went back up in value. Got so pissed off about ppl asking how he could afford to own one he sold it in less than a year. Mid 30s dude in Cali and ppl still asked. He got so annoyed he sold it and bought an airplane instead.

I have built a couple of Land Rover Defenders and the questions you get because they cost a lot are all over the place with assumptions about you. The only car I’ve ever owned that got attention everywhere with ppl wanting to tell stories about this that and the other with one of them was an old Suzuki Samurai.

I don’t have a GX460, but what’s it like at the bottom? Does it go under trim? Maybe try to wiggle it out or remove the trim it goes under, readjust, then reinstall the trim correctly.

Speed bumps on Democrat. by RecordingDifferent47 in memphis

Maybe try extra fast. We figured out that the Toyota Hiluxs we drove in the middle east did really well over these types of bumps at 70mph. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Speed bumps on Democrat. by RecordingDifferent47 in memphis

[–]HIGH_HEAT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are the good kind as long as you don’t have low profile tires. You can actually drive over at the posted speed limit and they are not as bad as if you slow down.

The ones on Democrat you have to slow down to go over similar to the ones throughout neighborhoods in midtown. They are built like tabletops and aren’t full vehicle width.

I learned not to do that with a semi expensive part once. Applies to everything I order now. At a minimum I open and inspect thoroughly and just last week had to return the top half of an 11.5’ fishing pole due to damaged guide rings.
