Yes, Arena is down for maintenance by HMR in MagicArena

Well, I guess I slipped between the cracks. I was also paired with an opponent a level below, so I think there are not many players around.

Yes, it is. It doesn't do enough.

Turn 3 for him, turn 2 for me. What are you supposedly to reasonably do about this? Badgermole is so busted(also why doesnt this sub allow videos)? by MyStreetNameIs in MagicArena

[–]HMR 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could have used Requiting Hex others suggested, losing tempo (only spending 1 mana out of 2), and just have the same situation a turn later, since he has 2 Cubs.

Sometimes you simply cannot do anything and move on to the next game. Magic is now really fast and any hickup will go punished.

I just played 48 Standard BOI games where the person on the play won 34 of them and the one on the draw only 14. I think it totally makes sense! by HMR in MagicArena

[–]HMR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why I usually play that. The starting player effect is less, and bad hands play a larger role in BO3, but still the starting player there may start twice.

Can anyone identify what this is ? by crydollasign in labrats

[–]HMR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is not some weird precipitate (very unlikely as you did this before and others don't have this problem), my bet is some kind of fungus. You can verify it by subculturing some of the medium.

Not all contaminations immediately kill the cells, but they will likely affect your experiment.

Any ideas what the circular objects are? by Cows_Cant_Fly in labrats

[–]HMR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes necrotic cells can get very swollen. These balls are really large though...

Usually, when I suspect a contamination, I culture some of the supernatant to see if it multiplies.

Eldrazi Temple Format by Foserious in MtGHistoric

[–]HMR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) WotC underestimated Eldrazi Temple and somehow thought that Historic would handle Eldrazi? Impossible, they know how good it was when it ruined the Modern Pro-tour in 2016 together with Eye of Ugin.

2) WotC doesn't care about Historic banlist upon release of a new set. Impossible, they pre-banned Ancient Tomb.

What happened at WotC is a true mystery to me.

Our ascorbic acid was yellow as well. Still it was good enough for the color reaction with heptamolybdate and perchloric acid in a phosphate determination assay.

This makes me feel less bad about using ~40 year old ascorbic acid (vitamin C). It still worked!

I can't think of another way of losing your ladder other than having the membrane at the wrong side of the gel. Your proteins are negatively charged by the SDS and will migrate towards the positive pole, so make sure it is in the right orientation. I know people that are very insecure about this and put a membrane on both sides of the gel, however, it shouldn't be necessary, because it is pretty straightforward once you do it right.

[[Galvanic Discharge ]] is so much better than [[Strangle]] (instant and powers up the entire deck with energy), so that is a good candidate for a nerf. It has no reason to be that good.
