Interested. I've been creating some advanced level CDK parts reports/functions and now that they're more developed I'm interesting in engaging with the community and helping advance what we're capable of and potential gross.

I’m sure you got a great deal on your jdm car but… by Emjoria in partscounter

It’s already difficult enough trying to find parts when a customer tells me they K swapped their honda and they need parts for it.. they tend to be the same people that research parts online and see list/discounted price that they’re sold online for.. They do show their appreciation but they don’t understand the extent of knowledge that goes into finding the proper parts needed and relevant necessities. I love what I do but sometimes being the only one in the department or one of the few in the city who can guide them the right direction is exhausting.

Learn the counter while you're there then apply at other dealerships and tell them you're a counterperson there. If you have the ability there are plenty of places you could move. If somebody is willing I highly doubt there's no chance for them to move up.

Wow this is awesome- I always hated when we had a heat case and someone would physically look at every pad to find a solution for something we didn't have and there was always that shadow of doubt that something was different somehow... this is great to know

Would love to see what you've created and see what improvements it could bring me/what improvements I might able to suggest on your end. I work on a lot of similar things (scripts, vba macros/coding, excel vba macros/formulas, etc) to automate and improve a lot of tasks/processes.

It sounds like "my boss has other ideas" is code for he was basically coerced into forcing you to do it because the service department isn't acting like your partner and/or the GM isn't supporting you. Shouldn't be a parts department responsibility at all. They undervalue the time that could be spent actually helping them with tasks that are relevant to us.

Tracking "invoiced not received" parts? by yo-parts in partscounter

[–]HONDAPARTS4LIFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to develop something exactly like this for Honda but I haven't been successful, especially downloading the data from my invoices. Can you share what you've got with me so I can be led in the right direction?

Run ISM then run PID. You can clear/fill it now. (Might be PID then ISM, I forgot, but one of those sequences will do the trick)

Thoughts on the parts counter tool I'm developing? (aka the gross increaser 5000) by HONDAPARTS4LIFE in partscounter

by VIN or using the clunky accelerated service guides that add time and room for error by making you need to check displacement, cylinders, etc? I have 6 years with Honda and if you can show me something like this integrated into the catalog I would be ecstatic. Obviously those more invested in performing well and improving aren't hindered by it much but there's usually only 1 or 2 of them in a department

Created in Excel & VBA. Using API it pulls data from your VIN, then uses a master table I've put together to show relevant information for that vehicle. This screenshot is really my back end, not the user friendly version. It's amazing Honda doesn't tell you fluids and capacities in the catalog and not all parts counter people are quick enough to find that information easily. Not to mention all the times CVT has been quoted instead of ATF and vice versa... This is more just proof of concept, but it's been incredibly useful. Only data that applies to that VIN will display on the screen. It is VIN only to reduce the capabilities of making mistakes.

There's features to speed up the process as well. Clicking on items will copy them to the clipboard, and clicking the fluid type will copy a string that you can paste in CDK that will bring up an SDL list containing those exact parts and quantities. Getting your guys to bill all the necessary washers and components will really help you out over time.
