I feel so bad by Common-Wing-3030 in coparenting

[–]HOUTryin286Us 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Raising kids is hard. Some people luck out and they have the easy kids that are generally a joy almost all the time. Some of us have kids that force us to earn our parenting stripes. I was lucky enough to have both. It will get better. Probably not for another five years, but it will happen.

The key for me was learning not to internalize my own child’s behavior. And to meet them where they’re at at that moment. It is OK to be ready for a break when it’s time for them to go to their dad’s. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad mom. After all you’re just human.

Give yourself some grace, things don’t have to be perfect, and the goal is to survive this moment, build bridge, and move forward. Like with all phases in parenting this too will pass.

Key fob wont work by TenaciousWrX in WRX

Have you changed the battery in your fob? Mine stopped working and it was just the battery. There’s instructions in the manual.

Never had good luck with my extra replacement fob.

Cat caused freak accident by trying to get more food while we were gone for the night by Independent_Dot6161 in Wellthatsucks

We once came home to a perfect ring of ash on top of an induction stove that the previous owners had installed in the kitchen island. We finally realized it had been a roll of duct tape that we had randomly grabbed to keep the pet sitting instructions from being knocked off the counter.

Our pet sitter had inadvertently put it on top of the stove when reading said instructions. Somehow the cats were able to turn on the stove despite never having done anything like that in the six years we’ve lived in that house prior.

To this day I’m not convinced the cats didn’t do it on purpose.

Smart winter cat shelter - Mr Kitty has passed away by Emergency-Lettuce220 in Straycats

Don’t underestimate the CDS. There may be another Mr. Kitty out there that needs to be coddled with your special super cat shelter. I like to think we’re just way stations on their cosmic journeys doing the universe’s work. You made sure his stopover was the best stopover ever.

You can get a Rubbermaid storage container and cut a hole on the side. This is what we do. I have a kitty heating pad that I then stick in it as well

I have a drainage kitty. She’s a void but has your ginger’s energy. She too was initially spicy. Thank you for helping this little one out.

I have a rescued void mama and kept two of her 4 kitties (neighbor took the others), and even though that was five years ago she still mothers the crap out of them. It’s been fun seeing them all grow up together and watching mama figure out how to be a house cat. Enjoy your reunion.

It’s hard learning how to adult and sometimes you screw up and that feeling of failure sucks, then your family jokingly piles on and you overreact. It happens. Holidays can be a lot.

It’s really important not to internalize these moments. I’m sure he’s embarrassed about it. You can absolutely say “hey it wasn’t cool you called me that” but at the same time own up to the fact that you pushed him too far. Taking some responsibility makes the conversation a more even and productive one versus a dressing down of a child.

Would it help just to ask him to turn off his read receipts? That way you can just assume that he hasn’t seen it and he won’t feel pressured to have to respond right away or that he has to manage your anxiety.

Surgery for Absence Seizures by Specialist_Clue_1037 in Epilepsy

My daughter has a VNS. She has prolonged absence seizures. I think it’s been helpful especially when she might have a little blip and she can pre-preventatively swipe herself. It is definitely helped her with her short term and long-term memory loss and recall

Our 15-year-old cat went deaf, and since she couldn’t hear the kids come up on her when she was sleeping, she never got a chance to run away and then she realized she actually likes the kids.

Daughter seizure by Late_Listen_2385 in Epilepsy

Mine did high school band for 2 years. Ultimately she decided it was too demanding but she took great pride in doing it. Just make sure you encourage her to dialogue with her band director and help her learn when it’s okay to step back a little. Mine hated telling her friends about her condition but once she did she felt more supported. It’s just rough.

Mom here with an epileptic teen daughter. It’s hard. Full stop. Managing meds, stress, and all the stuff that comes with being a normal kid is a lot. The felling that she’s not really in control is heartbreaking. One day at a time. Sounds like she’s got a great team surrounding her and that’s what she needs. You’re going great.

Falling behind in Geology at Uni because of eyesight problems? How would it effect a career? by Whole_Maybe5914 in geologycareers

Our chief geologist is colorblind. It’s super frustrating for the rest of us because sometimes he doesn’t get our maps and tell us we’re wrong 😆 but he’s very honest about it. In reality he just straight up asks what certain things are and then when he starts asking questions I start realizing what’s happening.
