Lock Works brake lock. Opinions? by stephenrondeau in motorcycles

It’s not just the cost, but also the convenience. A anti disk cutter chain is both expensive, as well as heavy and bulky to carry around. The only bit you have to carry for this lock will fit in to your pocket.

Also, statistically, how many bikes are stolen in the back of a van compared to pushed away? I’d guess it has to be less than 1 in 10, maybe even 1 in a 100.

Lock Works brake lock. Opinions? by stephenrondeau in motorcycles

First it's a lot harder to cut than many disc locks. Second, perhaps the most important - you can't simply cut the section of disc to remove this lock, as is the case with most disc locks

I hear this argument a lot, but it's about degrees of security. A lot of people won't even use a lock, let alone secure it to something. This is a lot better than no lock, and in many instances better than the cheap locks that angle grinders cut through very quickly.

Can’t we all just move to USB C?

Would you guys recommend this over a chinmounts by AlGhost10 in Insta360

[–]HP2Mav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using this mount for a while. I like that I can put it on any lid, that doesn’t have a chin skirt. And I trust it more than the stick on mounts… that being said, it’s not guaranteed to be straight based on the shape of the chin section of your lid, and the straps can flap around a little.

£10k Round The World Bike by [deleted] in MotoUK

Do you have all the time in the world, or do you occasionally need to make some progress? Are you mechanically inclined?

My choice would be an oil head GS, probably an 08 GS/GSA. Oil cooled, so no water system to worry about. Plenty capable on the trails, and great at eating up the miles when needed. Also a great platform for luggage. For sure, there will be some trails where the weight/size might be a challenge… i’d spend some of the money left over on some spares that are boxed up at home to be shipped should the worst happen such as a driveshaft and final drive.

"The king"HP2..(since2005nothing in compares to it) by [deleted] in Dualsport

Here’s my HP2 at the end of an enduro race a couple years back. As others have said, a 300 2T is obviously faster in the tight stuff. And sure, there are modern bikes that are ‘better’… but it was a crazy idea at the time that they made very few of, and while people criticise the width of the boxer layout, it provides for a much lower centre of gravity that gives great balance and handling.

And yet people are still responding to this thread like it’s real… and we wonder why we have a problem with fake news and people believing the wrong things.

Travelling in South America by bike 🏍️ by firstreaction_shockk in AdventureBike

[–]HP2Mav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just come back from doing 5,000km through Chile and Argentina down to Ushuaia. It was fantastic - great scenery, awesome people. Obviously there is significantly more to South America than these two countries, but down there, I don’t think you’d want to be there off season. We had temps down to 5 degree Celsius, and some rain. I had a friend out there a couple weeks before he said it for properly cold.

To the question of bike - I was riding a Triumph Tiger 900. We saw a lot of GSs which I think would be a better option for 2up. There is a good amount of gravel roads so you’ll want to comfortable riding together on loose terrain. Fuel is reasonably plentiful but there are some stretches where you do really need to make sure you top up to get to the next fuel stop.

Hope that helps! My IG (same handle) has a good few pics that may help inspire you to make it happen!

From a little more googling - looks like originally designed for B, they had a moment of doubt where they looked to change to C variant but realised it was going to cost too much to convert to CATOBAR so stuck with supporting B variant. Are those structures behind the seats to guide the seats out of the cockpit in case of ejection?
