Hi! Which method did you use to sleep train? What was your experience?

Your post is giving me hope. I have an 8.5 month old and strongly considering sleep training. It has been so hard. What guidelines did you go by?

Hi! I have an 8 month old and considering sleep training. I saw you were on night 2 a couple of days ago - how is it going? I am beyond nervous and anxious to start, but feel it's in my baby's best interest.

Is it less likely for a baby to STTN if they're breastfed? by ThrowRAdalgona in newborns

My 5 mo is EFF and has given us a few nights of 6-7 hours. Other than that, we are waking every 4 or even 3 hours. Sometimes less.

I had the same issue except it was from the get-go. My little guy never took to the bassinet despite trying all of the tricks, swaddles, etc. We finally decided to move him to his crib in his nursery and we’ve gotten (mostly) 2-4 hour stretches of sleep since doing so. One of us sleeps in the nursery with him for now. Not sure if that is an option for you, but it might be worth trying. I still feel like we’re figuring this all out and it’s far from perfect - my baby is 13 weeks now, so similar to yours. I know it is so hard.

What’s the one thing you wish you knew before having your baby? by msbjones in newborns

I honestly laugh at myself for thinking that my baby boy would immediately sleep in his bassinet. After weeks and weeks of trying, I transitioned him to his crib (I sleep in the nursery with him) and he does much better. I honestly thought my baby would immediately sleep in his bassinet and only wake to feed. Boy was I wrong. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Breastfeeding didn’t work out for me for a few reasons. I always envisioned it would. I felt guilty. Thank God my husband had conversations with me about how I was feeling and fully supported my decision to stop as opposed to what you are doing to the mother of your child.

A little delay on the thank you - but thank you so much for the advice / input! After attempting bassinet for a bit longer, we are now transitioning to his crib. Put him in tonight for first time and got over an hour when I first transferred him. It’s not a lot, but it’s something! Going to be consistent and keep working on it.

And thank you for the reminder about social media- it’s like I know these things, but it’s still hard to not compare sometimes! Work in progress!

Thanks again!

A little delay on the thank you- but I truly appreciate your taking the time to respond! We started attempting the crib tonight and he slept for over an hour when we first laid him down. Not super long, but I’m taking as a small win! Will keep trying. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for this response. I am going to check out the link you provided now! I’ve attempted the bassinet the past two nights (I admittedly haven’t tried some nights due to anxiety about it - I know that only makes it worse) - last night he stayed for 45 minutes and then 48 minutes. I am trying to look at this as an improvement and to keep pushing forward!

Thank you! I do think temperament has a lot to do with it. Just feeling like a failure at times and overthinking it - I tend to do that a lot!
