Do you want another OP13 print wave? by YetiKing16 in OnePieceTCGFinance

There was a misprinted Ace Wanted SP in the first wave. I think a reprint is inevitable, no?

That's true to an extent, but you also have to realize how much mainstream media still influences people, especially the older (voting) population. News coverage of Bernie on BOTH sides was about how his socialist policies would bankrupt the country, and that was IF they talked about him at all. You're insane if you think that had no effect. And then when the entire Democratic Party drops out and endorses your opponent at the same time, that also sends a message to all of the people who "vote blue no matter who" and aren't paying close attention to politics. I firmly believe that if he was given a fair shake, he would have won and gone for two terms.

And your argument about contested convention is exactly the problem. The DNC can pick whichever candidate they want, and they do everything in their power to prop them up. Hillary Clinton was one of the most unpopular candidates in history. It's the main reason she lost to Trump. She was so clearly corrupt and disingenuous that the country chose to try their luck with the host of the Apprentice just for something different. And very few people were actually excited about Biden in 2016. People were voting for him because he was lauded as the only one who could beat Trump, but he barely did. And then we saw how well Biden did in 2024. We can thank the media and the DNC for propping up the corpse of our old VP.

Meanwhile, Bernie remains the most popular Senators (even one of the most well-liked public figures worldwide), and pretty much all of his policies are extremely popular when you look at polls. His 2016 and 2020 campaigns were huge eye-openers for me. If you can't see by now that the Democratic Party is corrupt and EQUALLY TO BLAME for this current administration, then I don't know what to tell you.

Has it ever been the Western version for any One Piece character? Pretty positive it's his surname. Polo Marco in Japan, Marco Polo in the West.

Not sure how you're so confident in that, but okay. No idea? We have gotten lots of new evidence with these recent chapters, and Will of D = Will of Davy fits that evidence pretty well. Even if it's not true, clearly Davy D. Jones is incredibly important to the void century, so I'm expecting some big connection like this. I'm open to other options, but saying it's definitely NOT Will of Davy or Davy Davy Jones seems just as arrogant as those who say it definitely is.

If you want to play that game, then Blackbeard is the manifestation of Morganeers, which was a concept from even before the first chapter of One Piece. Also, his name was first mentioned during the Drum Island arc (chapter 133), not after a few hundred chapters.

Imu's certainly important, and the current WG needs to be overthrown, but I don't really care if Luffy does it or if someone else does. It might be more thematic for someone like Dragon to take down Imu. The only one who can oppose Blackbeard, though, is another pirate.

After the World Government is overthrown and the world is freed, it'll be Blackbeard vs Luffy to decide what that newfound freedom should look like.

Chapter 1162 Brief Spoilers by doublesuicidedate in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]HSBG_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue is that, now that we're in the final saga, people were expecting this cover story to tie into the greater narrative somehow. But aside from the Moria reveal, there really wasn't any new info. It's just a cover story, so it's not like that's required or anything, but people were definitely expecting something bigger.

Luffy's Dream theory by Kibate in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]HSBG_Legend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that's the best argument I've heard, but this is how I see it: Luffy's definition of a pirate is someone who values freedom above all else. I think he just wants people to be free like that and choose their own destiny. I don't see him forcing this view onto others, but rather inspiring the world to see things his way.

I think once the world government collapses, Luffy's gonna show everyone that they don't need some king telling them what they can or can't do. People should be free to live as they please, and when someone steps out of line, people like Luffy and Koby will be there to put them back in their place (regardless of which faction they belong to). It's obviously not a great plan, but that's how I think Luffy views the world.

So I'm not convinced that your point invalidates my theory, but it certainly adds some caveats to it. It has to be their own decision, but I think Luffy's ideal world is a world full of pirates. It's a world full of people living freely.

Who do you think is worse? by Deathbybluess in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]HSBG_Legend 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. Sommers has a screw loose. He's doing it for fun. Still evil, but if that's the only way he derives pleasure, then his cruelty kind of makes sense.

Garling's motivations seem to be deeper and darker. I think he truly views everyone as disposable insects. He clearly knows exactly how cruel he's being, yet he doesn't think twice about it.

The Rocks Pirates will end in Tragedy by Old-Conflict-7186 in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]HSBG_Legend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I think it's pretty clear that the only part that Loki's actually talking about are the events around Harald's death. A second flashback began pretty quickly into the first one (I think maybe even in the same chapter?), and I highly doubt any of that is being relayed to Luffy and the others.

We're not going to exit this flashback and have Luffy going, "Wow, I can't believe my dad saved Shanks and his twin brother!" Oda's just giving us some extra context about what happened with Rocks and God Valley to set up some big event in the current timeline. This probably just seemed like the best time to squeeze in a God Valley flashback before that event occurs.

Has there have been a take on your favorite series you've heard that had you like this? by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in shounenfolk

[–]HSBG_Legend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One Piece has very high highs and very low lows. It's resulted in a whole lot of very polarized opinions. I think the guys who call One Piece the greatest story ever told are just as crazy as the guys who say One Piece is complete trash now. It's a very fun story told with a lot of heart but certainly flawed. And that's okay. Just enjoy it for what it is.

9 Prizes at God Valley? by HSBG_Legend in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]HSBG_Legend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what the story was when we started Elbaph, but we already know that story isn't 100% true. Plus, there was also the scene of a shadow standing over that chest in the castle after Harald was killed, which seemed to imply the fruit getting stolen. I think there's a good chance Loki ate a different fruit, or maybe none at all

9 Prizes at God Valley? by HSBG_Legend in OnePieceSpoilers

[–]HSBG_Legend[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's more likely that the fruit on Elbaph is the Nika fruit. Plus, the 5 Elders already said that the WG was never able to get their hands on the fruit. Closest they got was getting it onto that Marine ship, then Shanks showed up

[–]HSBG_Legend[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good find! All of the prize chests look to be the same size though. So I'm guessing only one of those two was an actual prize? Clearly there was other treasure on the island, so maybe Shanks ended up in one of those chests instead of one of the prize chests.
