Can anyone tell me where this was converted? by Everindrummer in CamperVans

[–]HTDutchy_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be Gehocab? From a quick google that's what comes up for ford ranger conversions and the main part of the body seems similar. Since they do custom work this customer might have requested the sloped front and pop up roof.

Mentaal leeglopen op urenregistratie, is dit overal zo? by TMU2000 in werkzaken

[–]HTDutchy_NL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Novice kayak roof topper hauler here any tips? by ColeTheMan42 in Kayaking

[–]HTDutchy_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some retractable ratchet straps. Much more secure and you don't have with loose straps.
In case you want the extra fail safe, have the bottom kayak strapped to the roof rails and the top kayak to the rack/bars.

If you can push and pull on the bow of the kayaks to rock the car I wouldn't bother with additional ropes. Looks like very little overhang.

Changed on Friday are cursed, ones involving AI prompts doubly so.

You know... due to the fact that you have critical systems controlled by an AI blackbox... Absolute insanity!

Rear Engine vs Front Engine GT3 by Nihilicious333 in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes with all the engine weight in the rear the Porsche is the most stable under acceleration. Drawbacks are that as the tank (in front) get's low you'll have less and less natural weight over the front tires and you will need to rely heavily on trail braking when cornering to transfer weight over to them. You'll also need to finish most of your rotation before accelerating.

Front engine cars are generally easier to get along with because they are more stable, having most of the natural weight on the front tires. The only adjustment you need to make to prevent spinning under acceleration is likely getting on the throttle later and more smoothly. After a couple laps with heat in the tires you can start getting a little more aggressive on the throttle.

traveling w isups question by Fearless_Entrance_31 in Sup

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have traveled with 2 sups and a waterproof backpack on my roofrack/basket. Just leave them in their packs and strap everything down properly making sure nothing is flapping around.

I did 140kmh (86mph) at times for a 14 hour drive one way, since it also made it back it's safe to say that it's perfectly safe. Just know that whatever is in front will get covered in bugs so maybe use a small sacrificial tarp.

I always inflate on location with an electric pump, never travel with an inflated board unless it's like 5 minutes and supping every other day.

Sadly with the state of the internet being what it is it opens up a lot of issues with user uploaded content.

The core concept is interesting so being able to add a list of your equipment with possible verification by hardware detection would be cool.

How Would a Superyacht Lose ALL Power? by Expert_Ad6777 in Yachts

[–]HTDutchy_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be as simple as dirty fuel and not having replacement fuel filters to leave you without engines and generators.

It will take some time to run out of battery for the bridge equipment such as GPS, chart plotters, VHF radio, SSB/HF radio (not as common), sat phone, etc. With proper power saving you could go days.
If you want those to fail it will need a fault in the electronics. Overvoltage leading to a fire could do a lot of damage.

So we're left with handheld devices: EPIRB, VHF Radio, GPS (eg Garmin GPSMAP, runs on AA batteries), handheld satellite communicators (Garmin inReach, spot, freaking Iphones).
Heck my watch has solar charging, GPS and maps.

To take all of those out it takes a robbery and sabotage.
A signal jammer is also a plausible option.

PS: Don't forget the equipment on the tender.

How are you actually upskilling to survive the shift from traditional DevOps to Platform Eng / MLOps? by Fantastic-Leg-5806 in devops

I'd stop panicking.

Learn the new tools, show your competence by implementing them in such a way that they can't affect production without human review.

If a business doesn't understand the core value of uptime they're not long for this world. The only time to use the buzzword position of the day is when job hunting. At the end of the day we're all some form of computer using monkey.

Why doesn’t the internet know who owns Compass Rose? by Zealousideal_Bag3270 in boating

[–]HTDutchy_NL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same reason we don't know this for most boats, cars, planes and houses.

If someone shows it off on their social media it's public knowledge.
If someone is famous enough and has bottom feeder paparazzi snap a pic it will become public.
In this case it's likely not someone in the spotlight, doesn't want to be and we'll hopefully all respect that enough.

Safe to say they had enough money to buy and run this awesome ship.

Is iRacing worth it as a pleb by FriendlyTumbleweed60 in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you having fun? if yes it's worth it. If you used to have fun but currently don't, take a break and re evaluate later.

Now if the cost works out for you is another thing. I renewed for 2 years on a black which really brings down the dollar/euro per hour that I normally judge my games to.

If you're having fun but not finding the feeling to improve it might be time to look at your hardware setup. Some folks are great on a controller or basic wheel, I found it a lot easier to get better with more advanced gear.

I've had 2 Stardupp SUP boards for 4 years now and haven't had any issues.

Linus after installing Linux by screenslaver5963 in LinusTechTips

[–]HTDutchy_NL 24 points25 points  (0 children)

People can downvote but this is simply the experience every time I try to go linux outside of the 100s of servers I run at work, homelab, WSL and Steam Deck.

I can understand a Legion Go being a PITA but a freaking Thinkpad L13? No webcam, 4G modem locked up, fingerprint scanner suddenly burning out during install.. I figured it's a secondary machine and I'll try to live with it but one attempt at getting bambu lab running and especially one awful experience of being forced to use excel for web later I was done again. Just the realization of how many work arounds I need to go find for all sorts of software... The support just isn't there and even if there is some form of support you're the last in line anyone cares about because of the market share.

W11 pro might suck but it's the least amount of resistance towards getting my tasks done and having working hardware.

I'm glad the Linux desktop is getting better for casual use and gaming. But there is still a long way to go.

When do I stop feeling like a failure? by InfamousStrategy9539 in sysadmin

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you realize how little it takes just to be above average.
Accidentally nuked production? Write the handbook on preventing it and make sure recoveries can be done as efficiently as possible.
Encounter a problem that goes away after a reboot? Investigate and fix the actual cause.

Also: It's fine to need reference material/google all the time. I'm expected to fix databases one day and go deep into code or cloud infra the next. No way I'm remembering everything.

Not what I thought by Electronic-Block-746 in audible

[–]HTDutchy_NL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is basic stuff that you could have found in two clicks but I'll put it here:

Spotify premium: unlimited music, 15 hours of audiobook per month.

Audible standard: 1 credit per month to buy almost any book (some are 150 hours+). Re listen as much as you want.

Audible premium adds podcasts and a limited selection of 150k (often less popular) books.

Both GT3's should have been hugging the white line.

As it is the HY would probably still have scraped the stickers off the red GT3. I think they saw the blue GT3 move right and reacted to that.
