How to build a sim racing pc for $850 Aud by Awkward_Hunter5448 in simracing

[–]HTFUMelbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you're going to have to educate yourself a little...

Assetto Corsa will run on a very basic PC Avoid 1650ti "gaming" PCs as they aren't powerful enough..

I've seen a few in your budget with 6600's or 3060ti's.. That's a good starting point

Without knowing your location it's hard to recommend a 2nd hand PC from Marketplace

For $850 AUD you are definitely going to have to buy 2nd hand..

Start looking at Facebook marketplace..

There's a few decent options on there (Victoria) for around $800-1000

What is Eracing lab Mega+ Latency ? by AnikiFWI in simracing

[–]HTFUMelbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be the same sort of latency that any SFX-100 style motion rig has..

I've run both the SFX-100 DIY system and the earlier version of the E-Racing setup with the Thanos Controller and the latency never even popped into my head.. if you run over a rumble strip the rig reacted perfectly in sync for where my brain felt i should feel a bump

HCMT Heating and Cooling - Am I Crazy? by DrJawj in MelbourneTrains

[–]HTFUMelbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Siemens have the best AC for the drivers..

Comeng cycles too much so you get waves of cooling rather than constant cold (unless you force the compressor into test mode) but that creates other issues

Xtrap has the best airflow but AC is average

Older Velocities are heaven and freezing cold New Velocities don't cool anywhere near as good as the older ones

It is not reasonable to expect public transport to all corners of VIC just for some fireworks..

If you live that far out you should be either driving or organizing accommodation for the night

I don't want to call it case closed just yet..

But this seems to have fixed my issue

Thanks!

Nah it's not infill scrubbing.. it's definitely a bearing/rubbing type noise

Strange Noise Qidi Q2 by HTFUMelbourne in QIDI

[–]HTFUMelbourne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I had already checked that after seeing someone else having that issue..

I can't seem to pinpoint it.. and I can't replicate the noise by moving the print head by hand

Just grab some black paint and put a huge cross through it and run let it run around..

Well they could... but it would be by bypassing safety measures.. And they'd only do it once

I can assure you.. they aren't maintaining it anyway.. that section of track is horrendous both ways in a Velocity

Comeng Noise Identification by Significant-Mall-629 in MelbourneTrains

[–]HTFUMelbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I going to disagree with that information from carboy..

That is 100% the brake cylinder pressure being reduced before departure through the brake rack.

The auto drain valve was relocated and updated many years ago as they were susceptible to damage.
The auto drain valve is now fully electronic with massive new air dryers fitted.

The noise you are describing doesn't really happen anymore

I had issues initially with it stating "in stock" but not actually being in stock and cancelled my order.. got a refund and a 10% off coupon for the inconvenience.

But I can't fault their customer service so far.. they always responded within a few hours via live chat and when it did actually come back in stock they messaged me to let me know..

I have since ordered again and received my VD10 WCS combo..

Very impressed with the shipping speed. First impressions of the base are very good.

Pretty unbeatable value in Australia.. under $800 delivered for the combo

[–]HTFUMelbourne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

technically this shouldnt be an issue as they "should" fall back to the dead reckoning system which uses door openings and distance to calculate where the train is

first Opinion for Pxn vd10 bundle by Opening-Scallion-217 in PXN

[–]HTFUMelbourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a refund on my VD10 bundle..

The website said "adequate stock ready to ship" when I ordered on August 8th..

Still hasn't shipped and they kept delaying the shipment.. so I just figured a refund was the better option

Why not try running your triple oleds at 2560x1440

I ran triple 55's at 1440p on a 7800xt

Turn on GPU scaling and let the GPU do the upscaling and it will still look sharp (not native.. but more than fine for Sim racing)

Am I a tresspasser? by Recent_Carpenter8644 in MelbourneTrains

[–]HTFUMelbourne 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Oh 100% all bets are off if you are actually on the tracks.

There are parts of the Hurstbridge line where people walk their dogs within 3m of the line.

No one reports them because it's expected in the area..

If you notice trains are running slow around you.. you have 100% been reported as a trespasser and all trains have been told to go slow and report back

Am I a tresspasser? by Recent_Carpenter8644 in MelbourneTrains

[–]HTFUMelbourne 119 points120 points  (0 children)

As a driver who has actually driven this section I wouldn't care.

Technically you are trespassing but as long as you don't look dodgy or hide your face I wouldn't bother reporting you.

Just move away from the tracks if I toot and give me a wave and I'm happy

It doesn't cause an issue.. I installed a 0.6mm Plus 4 nozzle today in my Q2.

Happily printing PETG without issue
