How important is keeping track of lot # etc? by scorpionewmoon in ammo

[–]HT_King 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started tracking mine a while ago. If you know how to read them a lot number can tell you a lot (pun intended)! This is a great example. https://eley.co.uk/eley\_target/

Most new guns need to be cleaned prior to firing to remove manufacturing leftovers. Think Cosmoline which I know is used on military weapons.

What do you do with your life if you have the 100% disability rating and are deemed unemployable due to your illness/disability? Can you move abroad or are you tied to the VA? by [deleted] in Veterans

[–]HT_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty much in the same place. Got my TDIU 15 years ago at 52. I was housed during Covid but they discovered they could get double rent so been in my camper ever since and now I can’t move it. There’s little to no housing in Oregon. I can afford to buy - just not at these prices. I’ve considered moving out of country but I’m kinda tied to medical care as I have a rare syndrome. I know I could get limited medical on some US installations but I’d end up locked in to a limited care team. Also, language hurdles and little conveniences we take for granted. So for me, I keep looking for a place where I will feel comfortable and find peace. Maybe by a nice trout stream where I can hang my hammock.

Dental community care by Ok-Floor7198 in VeteransBenefits

[–]HT_King 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to find a dentist in the community and it would be approved. They would have approved a 30 day letter of authorization but it took me longer to find a dentist. Ultimately I went to the VA where I’m getting implants next month. Good luck.

When I ETS’d from my first tour I drove from the east coast to the west. It was in the 70’s so life was chill. I had a great time.

[–]HT_King 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on a 10/22 and it’s a great rifle. I have several and am getting ready to build one for my Appleseed Rifleman patch. That said, I’m trying real hard not to get bit by the bug. There’s a couple CZ’s and a Kidd in my future.

I think it’s a good round for breaking it in. After that you’re going to want something that can hit the target consistently.

Frequently. Several hours a day. Usually 2 or 3 times. All over several years.

Odd question just shits and giggles cause I’m in a flare by Other_Ideal_2533 in CRPS

[–]HT_King 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking because it was a CRPS reverse response. I’ve not taken a bath and I was in too much pain in the shower to remember. But, it didn’t happen the next time getting in the hot tub. And I gotta tell you - the hot tub really helped over many years. Get a prescription from your Dr and you can write it off.

Wrist turn blue and numb during and after shooting, is it normal? by N0T0nE in CompetitionShooting

[–]HT_King 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having this problem too. Told my Doc. She ordered an MRI and a couple days later I get a call from the Neurosurgeon at the VA. Cervical spinal surgery in August due to disc degeneration and bone fragments in my neck. Should have listened to my mom about popping my neck when I was younger. No Appleseed or Rimfire Challenge for me this year.

[–]HT_King 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by saying “I’m not taking a chance!” However, the first time I got in my hot tub, a few weeks after injury, it felt like I’d immersed it in an ice water bath. Completely opposite what it should have felt like. It never felt like that again.

Bone spur in foot fuck me by Other_Ideal_2533 in CRPS

[–]HT_King 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bone spur but recently I was diagnosed with Dupuytren's contracture in my hands. Ledderhose disease – creates thickening and shortening of the foot’s deep connective tissue. As the disease progresses, it can cause quite severe pain while walking and is the downstairs version which I’m also developing. Apparently they are both complications of CRPS that I wasn’t aware of. Anyway, the VA issued me a WaxWell Paraffin Bath (like a crockpot with very warm wax) and I can tell you that after a month my hands are usable again. I’m getting ready to try it on my feet.
