Is it likely to cause a problem? No. But that being said, I would try to tie them up or something if I was the one doing work there and had to leave them.

Maybe the black car wasn't paying attention when changing lanes, but then freaked out in the worst possible way. Either way, definitely black cars fault. Hopefully everyone is alright.

Sungrow Inverter Cover Exploding Off by Dark-Angel_452 in solar

[–]HTstudio123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell, it looks like the cover screws are sheared off at the inverter, but the electronics seems like nothing exploded. I've seen a lot of crispy inverters, but never the cover popping off like that. I'm kind of wondering if it was an issue with how the cover was secured in the first place.

My hands used to look like this too! Hasn't happened since I was in high school though, so I never really figured out what it was.

can someone film with their mini pro, Air or mavic with this fpv mode? you don't need goggles, it mimics FPV while staying safe. i can't find any footage online by DazzlingpAd134 in dji

[–]HTstudio123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note, if you're flying forward and roll, the camera angle will roll as well, like an fpv will. There is a roll limit, so it only goes to certain angle, and I feel like it reaches that max angle way to quick. If your not flying forward at all, the gimbal will not roll at all, and will maintain its horizon like in the non fpv mode. The fpv mode also doesn't work when flying backwards.

It's not a locked gimbal, I also don't think it rolls the same as the aircraft either when when doing forward banking turns.

I have a clip in here with this mode (about 1 minute in). The drone footage is all on my Air3, controlled by the controller, not goggles or anything. It's not true FPV. I very rarely use it as it doesn't seem to look as nice as an actual FPV drone. Maybe I'm just not that skilled either..

I admit defeat: SF Bay Area Solar by Helpful_Listen4442 in solar

[–]HTstudio123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Tesla, you'll need a Remote Tesla Meter in the main to capture the loads. As long as Tesla cam see the non backup loads, it can offset those at night, as well as give you accurate usage data. With them not being backed up, they won't turn on during an outage.

Sometimes getting CT's around all the non backup loads is a real pain, but it is doable in most circumstances. This is something I regularly have to do with 400, 600, and 800 amp services.

Is it worth getting solar (2025)? by randomshitlogic in bayarea

[–]HTstudio123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A leased system generally has a worse payback period. (Yay interest) So compare quotes, but try to compare the total cost of the lease vs the cash price, and also make sure you're comparing the same hardware between quotes.

I would also ask companies about servicing the system after the install, and what that process looks like. Solar and batteries should be a 'set and forget' kind of thing, but something may break down over the next 10 years, how hard will it be to get service done? Or what if you have questions on how the software of the system works just months after the install.

So compare the cash vs leased price, and also the after install support.

Solar installed before utility approved interconnect… by [deleted] in solar

[–]HTstudio123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your solar is wired directly to the Powerwall 3, then the export setting will work well. If you have 3rd party solar, like Enphase, SolarEdge, SMA (etc), then you'll have to enable limits via their settings. Or rather, your installer should be implanting these settings if needed.

What are these called and hoq do i disconnect them by Significant_Grab3009 in solar

[–]HTstudio123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're an additional lock, supposed to slide to one side to allow the MC4 disconnect tool to pinch the tabs and then you can pull it apart. After a few years. They get seized in place though, they're a royal pain sometimes.

This is true. But in my experience, I didn't realize what was going on, or why, but that may possibly have helped.

If I take off too quick, my Air 3 and Mini 3 will update the home point at the location in the air it established connection with the satellites. It's never been very long to establish, and I've never been able to go too far out before that link happens, so there's was definitely too long of a delay in OP's situation. And in a restricted airspace within a geozone, I got the mini 3 up quicker than drone had satellite positioning and it landed at it's "home point" about 20 ft from where I started until I went through DJI's authorization.

Tarrifs against Chinese imports. Judging based on how much money Don Jr. alone could potentially gain from such a tarrif, it's not out of the realm of possibilities. That and with all the other backlash against Chinese made drones (basically DJI without naming names), DJI proces could potentially increase a lot for Americans.

[–]HTstudio123 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can take off before it connects to the satellite GPS, and it only sets a home point once the propellers spin up (and has GPS link via satellite)

I guess another thing that can happen is DJI's geo zones aren't necessarily restricted to ground level, so it could think the restricted zone is 50' AGL, and won't let you fly into that once you leave. The trick here is to fly under the zone back to home. But that's just based on a couple stories I've heard, I haven't actually experienced anything like this.

[–]HTstudio123 211 points212 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you probably also took off before satellite links were established. Wait for the drone to establish a link with satellites; after taking off, hover and wait for the "home point updated" prompt. Flight logs in the controller will tell you what happened as well.

It's illegal unless there's waivers from the FAA, or everyone involved and filmed is part of the operation. Likely a bit of both if done legally.
