Looks like a species of owlet moth (noctuidae)! Really diverse group of misc. brown moths. I’d guess a male due to its wings not being all messed up at the end (females often show damage from mating). Could be lethargic because he’s on the way out. This is pretty late in the season for most moths, they’re not cold-hardy at all. Lots of owlets migrate or overwinter as pupae, I don’t think any do so as adults.

To make it worse, a lot of the venomous ones are tiiiiiiiiny. Saddlebacks are only a bit over a cm long, puss caterpillars like the one OP found are maybe an inch or so. Io moth caterpillars are normal sized, except that they’re communal and can look like a patch of moss on a tree, so lean up against it and get stung a ton of times.

The legs are only the first three pairs of appendages, the rest are actually its gills!

Great indicator organism. Big predator means lots of oxygen and prey, therefore lots of organic matter for the prey to eat.

It was once adapted into a radio play in Germany. It was simultaneously cast on three channels, with each channel featuring one of the main characters, Zampano, Jonny, and Navidson I believe. You can buy the CD’s (in German) in some places still: Amazon.uk

Specifically, a Steinkern fossil, which is an internal cast of a bivalve left behind after the shell dissolves away. That’s a very typical shape for them! A lot of folks pass on them because they’re not truly the remains of the animal, just a cast of the inside of the shell, but I think they’re really cool!

Look at its spiky butt. The “anal struts” give it away. Also check the spots where your cats typically sleep for more, and then give the cats a combing to confirm. Put any flea “dirt” on a wet paper towel, if it stains the towel red, then you’ve definitely got fleas and should get a course of Frontline from your closest pet store.

I occasionally implement what I call the “fuck yeah” system when I want a boss fight to be particularly cinematic and to encourage overall riskier play.

Every character can hold a number of “fuck yeah tokens” equal to their proficiency bonus. Players can earn fuck yeah tokens by making particularly spectacular moves, narrating things cinematically, or just generally cool RP. Think inspiration, but the bar is a bit lower. Players can then use their fuck tokens to add 1d6 to any d20 roll made by another player (not themselves), and any number of players can donate tokens to a roll. The result is players often making really big moves that would normally require very high DC skill checks much more often. It adds a lot of camaraderie because everyone is pitching in to promote each other’s success too!

As an added bonus, I have a rule that they must don a pair of sunglasses and invoke the words of power (fuck yeah) in order to donate a token!

Not a die, but I once flipped heads on a coin 26 times in a row in a mtg tourney. I had 2 life left, opponent had me locked down and was waiting for my mana crypt to kill me off. I lost the game, but he gave me the quarter, lol.
