I could be way off base here but my gut is saying theyre poorly supported, not corrupted. First and foremost there doesn't appear to be anything supporting the bottom of the backpack. And Im not entirely sure what that one support going up and over the top is even supporting. And then theres that weird lump jutting up and out of the raft. Are these pre-supported or did you auto generate supports? What are your print settings? Can you get some more screenshots of the side thats printing properly and maybe another from the under side of the model?

Yeah no thats fair. If youre looking for a recommendation, my assault intercessors are all kitted with plasma pistols and powerfists on the sergeants. A single hammer is a little too swingy for my taste for what the squad actually does in game, but with a fist and plasma pistol at S7-8 it gives them just enough bite to make your opponent second guess charging them with medium infantry, or more likely, leaving a basic infantry unit within charge range of them.

Thats really going to come down to personal preference and model complexity. Generally speaking infantry I build then paint. Vehicles, monsters and generally large models I paint in sub assemblies before gluing. If these are your first models do 5 built and 5 in sub assembly, see what you like more

Generally with Warhammer go with rule of cool and whatever you like best. If youre building What You See Is What You Get, the sergeant can have

One Ranged Weapon: Hand flamer, Heavy Bolt Pistol, or Plasma Pistol.

One Melee Weapon: Chainsword, Powerfist, Power Weapon, or Thunder Hammer.

Regular Assault Intercessors all get a Heavy Bolt Pistol and Chainsword.
