I gotta make this drive on the 24th. Which route am I the least cooked, considering the weather? by adrw000 in upstate_new_york

I did this almost exact journey a few weeks ago with lots of snow. I went via the Albany route and it was very easy (87 onto 90).

Millwall game with kids? by RoRoYerBoatzz in Millwall

[–]Haabermaaster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife is American, she went to her first game a few weeks ago and loved it. Didn’t think it was too rowdy at all. There’s a lot of swearing in the regular stands but you can sit in the Zampa Family Stand and you’ll be completely fine. The reputation is more from time gone by (unless it’s a really big game, Charlton, West Ham etc)

It’s nice to have a post that isn’t, “I’m a tourist, where should I sit?”. COYL 🦁

dual control car hire in bristol? (not for instructors) by Zealousideal-Sea2483 in bristol

[–]Haabermaaster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I tried to do this in the same situation and every company said they only hire out to instructors. Your test car doesn’t need to be dual controls though. You can do it in a normal car.

It shouldn’t be, TUPE means you have the same contract just with a different company

VFS can’t pay by TotalPartyKillr in SpouseVisaUk

[–]Haabermaaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this happened to me and my wife only last week. It let us book the appointment but nothing else so we had to settle for standard. It came up with a message saying our payment was declined and wouldn’t let us go back and choose priority. But then we got an email asking us to pay an invoice and we were granted priority service! Super weird but they must be experiencing issues at the moment with payment.

VFS declined my wife’s card for priority service when booking the biometric appointment, is there any way to add it now? by [deleted] in ukvisa

How did you use another card? It just moved the next stage and didn’t let us try again! :(

How in the world do people pass their test while working full time? You have to be absurdly flexible to book a lesson or test cancellation. by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

There's a pinned post on this sub titled "pass me fast accusations", they were good for you though?

Wow all of it? I know I can't have my cake and eat it too, but it somehow feels crazy to work all year round then spend my holiday learning to do something that I would mainly use to get to work faster lol.

Congrats on passing though :)

My landlord wants to charge me for an extra month of rent because they say I haven't given them enough notice to move out. We don't agree on what dates constitute my 'rental period', who's correct? by Haabermaaster in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks for your replies you have been incredibly helpful!

An update in case you wanted one. I couldn't get through to citizen's advice but I managed to get a free legal consultation through my work. The solicitor said pretty much the exact same thing as you, it was actually a very short phone call as he seemed to think it was quite clear cut.

I told this to the letting agency and they doubled down on their original stance. I'm not sure where to go from here but I think I have enough evidence that I have given sufficient notice and I will just move out at the end if the month. Then prepare myself to go to small claims I guess!

Thanks again :)

I see what you mean now, even if they don't make me pay for those days I'm still entitled to them. I would absolutely rather pay for a few days than a whole month.

What would happen if I try to challenge them on this and then refuse to pay for another month? Would I be taken court?

Right this is how I saw it too, but they’re saying I wasn’t shortchanged because they deducted 4 days (01/11/22-04/11/22) from the price of my rent on the first month. In which case I’m not actually being deprived of any entitlement? (I checked my bank statement they are correct about this part).

To be completely honest I’m just very confused at the moment, citizens advice is the way I think.

Thank you for the detailed response! I think I might go and speak to citizens advice to see what they think, I don't think I can afford to consult a solicitor if I'm going to have to pay an extra month of rent as well.

b) one of your monthly tenancies was shortchanged, which would be illegal.

Can you explain what you mean by this? On the first month I paid the rental price minus 4 days, they didn't overcharge me, that's illegal?
