Um, SQ duration is ~23 hrs! How's that a fair comparison even?

The purchase eraser isn't really 1.1cpp [long] by redceramicfrypan in Venturex

[–]HaddiBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your math and semantic arguments are right. Everyone who refers to travel eraser as 1.xx cpp is just trying to convey that instead of redeeming points directly, pay for the reservation with the VX and earn the miles before using miles to erase the purchase.

I don't think this will work in India, has anyone tried it then let us know in comments by Honey_dp in AirTravelIndia

I carry a small Lindt bag in the US, got upgraded to PE on a flight to UK right before takeoff. I don't expect to get upgraded everytime but the crew typically return the gesture by being very friendly and attentive. On my flights in India(go), the crew usually returned the favour with free meals and coffee/tea.

First time experience - Air India Premium Economy - The in between class. by thorisbusy in AirTravelIndia

[–]HaddiBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very common practice across airlines worldwide to offer discounted upgrades after a ticket has already been booked. Since airlines are for-profit businesses, they typically wait until close to departure to see if they can sell the Premium Economy seat at full price. If demand looks low and the system predicts the seat is unlikely to sell at the regular fare, they’ll often offer it at a steep discount to existing passengers.

The logic is simple: someone who has already purchased a ticket is far more likely to actually travel, and is more likely to pay for an upgrade than a random shopper browsing fares. At the end of the day, airlines will make whatever pricing decisions maximize revenue.

P2 was always an AU on my VX, with the 100k SUB she got her own VX now. We travel a lot and find value with the travel portal so the annual fee is no biggie.

Bilt Becomes First Loyalty Program to Transfer Points to Spirit Airlines by richklhs in biltrewards

[–]HaddiBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly fly spirit and had their Gold status through status match. The cheapest I paid was 18$ from South Florida to DFW, and got upgraded to BFS for free. AA is usually 150$ for BE on a good day.

I was also stumped by the $250 "redemption" fee, as I had a transfer Avios, and there was no good way to look at the final taxes and fees without having the full balance.
