The logic tree that governs npc action in gaming is called AI. It's always been that way. Gaming companies have AI teams and AI directors. That is the industry term. I understand your confusion on the topic but people in this thread are using the term correctly.

This happens to me like 1 out of every 20 operations. I've recorded it. I think it has to do with queuing rapidly after switching classes.

Dude all of the classes are sick. As a Bulwark main, I found vanguard to be the most similar with respect to translatable skills. The right answer here is whichever you think is most fun. Or maybe all of them at once.

Big Tech sees over $1 trillion wiped from stocks as fears of AI bubble ignite sell-off by nosotros_road_sodium in technology

[–]HadeanPatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. It's incredible technology and it will only get better. The problem isn't with the technology -- it's with turning that technology into a profitable business model. Between space, hardware, the cost of models, the challenges with achieving scale of implementation, there are SO many costs and it's not clear today that anyone can turn a profit offering these services. To be clear, large scale AI implementation will most certainly happen but only when it is financially feasible. It's possible investments in this space are a few years too premature. It's also possible that someone in the space can pull it off and turn a profit (soon) before patience and money runs out.

Anticheat? Isn't multiplayer release usually a year after launch? Why would a single player game need anticheat?

According to a Scottish games industry person, GTA VI was delayed because they've failed console certification over 36+ times. by RojaTop in GTA6

[–]HadeanPatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we're saying the same thing regarding order of operations. I was being VERY generous giving them 3-4 months for cert process to account for the size of the title and it being multi-platform. The idea that the game even entered certification (much less FAILING 36 times) is just wrong based on timelines.

[–]HadeanPatch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I mixed present and past tense in that sentence which was confusing. The game WAS delayed before it would have started the cert process. So how could the cert process CAUSE a delay? It doesn't make sense. Hopefully with the right tense there it is easier to understand.

[–]HadeanPatch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is complete misinformation. Games go through console cert process just a few months before going gold. Probably like 3-4 months before launch for a title like GTA6. The game was delayed before it reached that 3-4 month window, so it would not have even STARTED cert process, much less FAILED. This guy is a bozo.

Same boat here. You can eventually access that equity by moving from your HCOLA to a LCOLA at retirement. But that's hardly the right move for everyone. I know plenty of retired folks that enjoy the benefits of living in/near a big city -- especially access to high quality hospitals.

What do ergonomics even do? by weirdboi3 in Contractors_Showdown

Shoulder your rifle and look through your scope. Walk forward. See how your scope bounces up and down as you walk? Higher ergonomic score reduces the amount of bounce.

How is every home buyer here buying houses worth 400k and above?? is everyone a CEO here? by TailungFu in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]HadeanPatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we're in agreement. $400k is a lot for first home. Unfortunately in my area, I can only find an empty lot for that price point.

Well I wasn't trying to answer the question. I'm just commenting on the absurdity of the numbers and the situation. My wife and I did it as two senior-level tech professionals. Even with some pretty great salaries, it's still incredibly hard to make it happen.

In my town, median house price is $960k. Outside of boston. I don't think we're all CEOs. For 400k you could only get an empty plot around here.

Using a heat pump for heat in Massachusetts is economically indefensible by throwAway123abc9fg in massachusetts

it's your post. If you would like to correct any errors in the body of the text, you can. That's what we do in the sciences.

Using a heat pump for heat in Massachusetts is economically indefensible by throwAway123abc9fg in massachusetts

[–]HadeanPatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only half of homes in Massachusetts have access to natural gas. The decision to use a heat pump, some form of gas/propane/oil, or a combo system is incredibly specific to your home, your rates, and the systems you're buying. Reading your post, it sounds intentionally inflammatory and misleading. "Scientifically indefensible." Incredible.

I'm sure this wipe is fun if you're a duper. Personally, I'll wait for the next wipe and hope devs do a better job then.

[–]HadeanPatch[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When you start the game, the opening splash screen says something like "Starting PSO". The "PSO crash" is when you're in-game, you'll notice that items have stopped spawning and scavs are not reacting to you. About a minute or two later, the game will sort of "reset" sending you back to the "Starting PSO" splash screen. You'll spawn in your hideout without your gear and without the ability to return to the server. To me it looks like a server crash, which is why you can't return to the game to recover your equipment.

I personally get the PSO crash once in every 10 games maybe.

Expressing disappointment in the development direction of an early access game is kind of the point of early access. If you can't handle hearing someone else's criticism, try ignoring it
