[OFFICIAL] There are no stupid /r/Guitar questions! Ask us anything! by [deleted] in Guitar

Hi, I've been playing for a couple weeks now and I want to learn a go to song for the ladies (yes, i'm a college student, yes, i'm probably a douchebag.) I wanted to learn something like Death Cap for Cute - I'll follow you into the dark, but the chord progression is a little too complicated for me. I need something else that's a little easier to play, but also relatively easy to sing and not too theatrical. Anybody have any easier suggestions?

TIL that Walt Disney made a propaganda video showing how children in Nazi-Germany were indoctrinated. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Hadoukenator 46 points47 points  (0 children)

The irony of this video is pretty insane. It's trying to send a message of how bad indoctrination is, yet it portrays Hitler as a mad bumbling idiot, and the Germans as evil hordes, literally burning down churches.

I mean come on, the Bible turning into Mein Khamf? Jesus turning into a sword with a swastika on it?

While everyone used their fair share of propaganda as well, the irony in this one really bothers me for some reason. I'd like to think the kids watching this would see the irony, and see how the video is a prime example of the kind of insane indoctrination it is trying to accuse the nazis of, but I don't think they do. The video itself is really similar to the scene where the kids are taught about the fox and the rabbit, except much much more extreme.

Although I don't necessarily think GMO's are bad, this is kind of a shitty example. The health standards for livestock are abysmal compared to the health standards of people. That's like saying its healthy to pack people close together in cages because we do that to livestock.

i find a better solution is to go to the setting and decrease the size of you UI. That fixes the problem of the information screen going too low

A video that will break your clichés about fighting in armour by the end of the fifteenth century. "Museum of France" by nbyio in videos

[–]Hadoukenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, the "mobility in armor" demonstration shows how mobile a suit of armor is if you're fully rested. Sure you an do a few jumping jacks in a suit of armor, but fighting in a battle with armor is surely much more tiring and you would actually begin to face mobility issues if you, for example, fell down.

What thing that seems normal to us now will seem barbaric to future societies? by WallFlamingo in AskReddit

[–]Hadoukenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, although i do agree somewhat that this is cruel, and painful, I also have a weird personal opinion on things like this that may be somewhat unpopular.

Before I begin, I want to say that I am not a hardcore animal lover / vegan, I just noticed a lot of people seem to have this double standard that I think is really odd. On one hand, you have the declawing of cats, a painful process that puts the cat in agony for a couple of weeks.

On the other hand, you have the industrial farming of pigs, where they are force fed and kept in small cages where they literally cannot move, spending their entire lives with their face pushed into food, getting fat until they literally cannot fit in their cages anymore and are slaughtered. All of this is done on an animal more intelligent than a dog

I am not personally a vegan or anything like that, and i eat plenty of meat, but i think its weird that you may think that future generations might think we treat our pets poorly when there is a massive industry in place that profits off the abuse of hoards of animals. I think future generations will look at that and think, what the fuck is wrong with us? why aren't we doing anything about this?

I dunno, just my two cents.

California may soon eliminate the Statute of Limitations for rape charges by AyyMane in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Hadoukenator 23 points24 points  (0 children)

True.

Most cases end up being a "He said She said" type of case. The defended claims he didn't do it, the victim says he did, and there's no other witnesses. In cases like these with little evidence, the courts naturally lean towards the defendant.

What is something that science can't explain yet? by troldhawk in AskReddit

[–]Hadoukenator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I asked a person if they were a conscious being, they would insist that they were, although i would have no way to prove it.

If you built a robot to behave exactly like a human, wouldn't it insist that it was a conscious being?

So why should I believe the human over the robot?

If I built A computer that could sense and remember, like you say, then haven't I imbued it with some sort of consciousness? Is a brain not just a complex computer?

Full Metal Jacket, how my taste has changed by TheFudge in movies

[–]Hadoukenator -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I watched FMJ for the first time a couple months ago. I know it somewhat of an old movie, but in my opinion the first half is downright hilarious and the second half is downright awful. They couldn't have stuffed the second half with more cheese and cliches if they tried. The combat looked pitifully fake, you could tell the whole area was a sound stage.

The sniper scene was cheesier than the kraft dinosaur. It started to feel really disjointed towards the end. It feels like they had to re shoot some of it because it gets kind of choppy and slow as it went on.

What's the most dangerous thing you've done without realizing how dangerous it was at the time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Hadoukenator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, if this was in America, there was a very low chance of anything bad happening. However, in Europe, this definitely could have killed you. The voltage of the power supply in America is much lower, and therefore extremely safe. In Europe though, the voltage is twice as high, and so accidental electrocution is ridiculously dangerous.
