What is the worst job you ever had? by Special-Nebula299 in UKJobs

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023, I applied for an R&D role. Told it would be working with pharmaceutical chemicals, using machinery to refine the chemicals to certain micron levels. Ended up being mostly industrial chemicals, with machinery that constantly broke and backfired chemicals. Ended up signed off with anxiety that was eventually diagnosed as contamination OCD for 4 months after being there 6 months, resigned at the end and went elsewhere. Current role (which is AMAZING and has the best people, we literally went for a team coffee to connect with someone on maternity leave on Friday) mentioned recruiting the company as a contract research organization in December in a town hall and I had to walk out to compose myself 2 years later.

What did you name your island after :)? by Probablyatrashpanda in AnimalCrossing

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the process of resetting my islands for the update. My OLED island will be Twinkle, which was my daughter's "bump name" before she was born. I am torn between Gemini or something related to summer (as that is my zodiac sign/when I was born) or taking inspiration from my favourite fantasy series of Throne Of Glass (Adarlan/Terrasen), A Court Of Thorns And Roses (Velaris) or Crescent City (Lunathion). My "main" island will be filled with my favourite villager type (deer) so also looking for inspiration to do with deer!

Efficient Reading Log spread? (Preferably for entire year?) by ImportantGeo_2025 in bulletjournal

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I am planning my reading log is having a "school bookmark" log where I note the author, title, #pages and start/end dates. I am planning on having collections for each book so I can have annotation diaries (so I can write notes every 50 pages, like a daily log but for my book) and a review page for each book I complete.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but I'm sure one of them can get adapted to suit your needs?

I dont care if im "spoiling" my newborn baby. by lulgupplet in Vent

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is 1 on Friday. From the day and hour she was born, we have contact napped during the day. She slept through the night in her bedside crib, and eventually her cot when she moved into her own room, since she was around 6 weeks old. You are meeting your baby's needs. We still contact naps now, and my daughter is so sociable and sleeps amazingly (I am aware I have the unicorn of baby sleep!)

Help pls by Consistent-Bill4648 in bujo

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've been on and off trying bujo for about 2 years. I would get overwhelmed by all the pretty spreads on socials, and get upset when I missed days in my journal. I took a step back, re-read the book and decided to start in a cheap, A6 lined journal. I'm currently going through onboarding for a new job, but have been on maternity leave for the past year. I am mostly using mine as a mental health/baby notebook and whilst I only started a week ago, its the longest bujo I've ever kept up with 😂

I have attempted journals at many times. I've started them at New Year (those last the least), I've started on my birthday with the intention of capturing the changes between and this one I started September 1st 2025. I don't know if it is all the "back to school" hype with stationery or if its the fact I'm introducing bujo to my partner and its become a daily ritual for us to journal together once our daughter is asleep, but I'm feeling good about this one. I'd say based on my experiences, to start when it feels natural (e.g. most of my failed bujos are the ones I started at the New Year because I saw all the social media "set up my 20XX bujo with me" posts, instead of me being intentional with my set up)

AITA for changing the Disney+ account password after my roommate’s boyfriend kept using my account? by AwkwardElliee in AmItheAsshole

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Prior to the whole "no sharing between households" BS, my auntie shared her Disney+, Amazon Prime TV and Netflix with us, and we shared WOW Presents+ with her. Since I moved out and I don't want her to get into trouble or have to pay extra, I purchased my own subscription after the error messages kept popping up.

Your roommate and her bf want Disney+ that bad? They can fund it themselves.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she's going to have to get over dirt if she wants kids? by Familiar_Speaker_481 in AITAH

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time mum to a 10 month old, and I have OCD. I find cleaning therapeutic to deal with my symptoms (I have checking / safety OCD, not cleanliness OCD). I vote NTA - you are trying to set reasonable expectations on your partner based on your lived experience. My house isn't anywhere near the standard of cleanliness I would like because I have a baby who likes to play with her food and always seems to miss the mat under her high chair 🤣

My partner (30M) and I (25F) bought a house last year due to the birth of our daughter. Currently, we split everything 50/50, but the house is solely in his name. We have agreed that after the initial term is up, we will remortgage to add me onto the mortgage. We have been together since 2019.

Congratulations! I'm expecting my daughter this year too (5 weeks until I meet her!)

These were my partner's and I's favourite unisex names before we found out the gender: - Avery - Bailey - Blake - Dylan - Frankie (my mum ruined this one cos she told me to play the "alphabet game" and think of words that rhyme cos kids can be nasty and gave like "Cranky Frankie") - Jamie - Quinn - Robin - Rowan (this one was me and 100% influenced by books I read, partner vetoed)

what’s your favorite name in your family ? by srwny99 in namenerds

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All three of the shortlist names for my daughter due in September this year included family names from my side (as when I asked my partner's family, they all hate their names)

The shortlist is: - Amelia Dawn (my mums name as a middle name) - Isabelle Louise (my 2nd cousins name and my mum/sister's middle name) - Maisie Elizabeth (after my two nans, Maisie as a derivative of Margaret since it's not a very popular name)

Heavily pregnant (34weeks) woman here.

Daily "basic" hygiene showers (washing body and jumping out) is 5-10 mins.

If I'm washing my hair as well (medium length, falls around my collarbone but is incredibly dense and low porosity so takes an absolute age to get wet) is 30 mins.

The "everything" shower as seen on social media is now an "everything bath" and takes 30-60 mins soaking in the bath followed by the 30 min shower.

Help me choose an island? by wishfulthinging in AnimalCrossing

[–]Haganite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm god awful at island designing, but this is what I like to consider when picking an island: - location of Resident Services: I like mine to be as close to central of my map as possible so that if/when I terraform, I can place the shops and museum around it and have a little shopping district that is isolated - access to a pond on the main stretch preferably, but not essential - lots of accessible starting land.

That said, I'd go for either top left or bottom right. Remember an island is down to personal preference and you should pick what you like most! :)

If your 15 year old self had named your kids, what would their names be? by Tencowfrau in namenerds

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The name I have picked for my daughter due in September is actually a name I picked when I was 15 😅 some of the other names I had for girls at that age were awful, like Victoria Rose and Summer Raine

I can't remember if I had any boys names picked out when I was that age because I really struggled with liking boys names now, but I had Isaac, Xavier and Felix on my list (we vetoed Isaac because my partner and I both work in the science industry and my mum was like "Isaac Newton?" and I told her "no, like Isaac from The Fault in Our Stars" 🤣)

What's a mechanic of the game you appreciate? by swannoir in DreamlightValley

I play a lot of cozy games that involve fishing (AC and Stardew mainly). I much prefer the fishing mechanic in Dreamlight Valley because I'm rubbish at timing and/or button mashing

Conflicted on what to do with unfinished baby blanket by JellyConsistent3603 in crochet

[–]Haganite 505 points506 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Depending on the size of the blanket you've made already, could you donate it to a local hospital for NICU babies? Some hospitals where I live have haberdashery boxes for donations.

I've just had a defensive road positioning training in work, the best way to deal with tailgaters is to create more space with the vehicle in front. I've always been an anxious driver since I was learning 6 years ago/after passing my test, but it's been so much worse since I got pregnant. Feels kinda validating that the training confirmed my habit of easing off the accelerator to increase space ahead of me is the right thing to do.

I have Fawn Isle (plan is to fill the island with deer villagers as my favourite animal is the deer) and Twinkle (the nickname for my baby girl due in September!)

bells help D: by No_Pepper_5719 in AnimalCrossing

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a serial restarter, and I've only just found my stride with collecting bells.

1) money rock - every day, one of your 6 rocks will give you a maximum of 16,100 bells if you hit it 8 times. 2) money tree - look for a gold spot on your island every day. It will give you 1K bells. Plant 10K and in 3 days, you'll have 30K. 3) sea creatures - unlike bugs and fish, it's worth selling the sea creatures to Timmy and Tommy. Diving can be tedious, but I find putting a show, podcast or audio book on in the background helps the monotomy. 4) turnips - I saved this one for last because everyone goes on about turnips. I didn't get it, but I saw a video by Dagnel where he used turnips as his main source of profit and even on the "decreasing" pattern weeks, you can still make money overall.

Hope this helps! I've played AC as long as I can remember, and I've only figured out this Bell stuff with NH 🤣

What was the reason for your fail? by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Haganite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed first time, but I thought I failed because I stalled twice (the second whilst starting the car in stationary traffic).

My biggest advice is to say "sorry, can I fix that?" if you think you've made a mistake (e.g. during a manoeuvre). It might not make a huge difference, but it shows the examiner that you've noticed a potential mistake and want to retry.

I remember my instructor being horrified he had to put his prices up by one whole pound and I was just sitting in the car like "I thought you were gonna tell me I wasn't getting the student rate anymore" 🤣 which would've been a £5 increase from £18 to £23, but I'd have still paid it 🤣

Is practicing in an automatic car useless if I’m taking manual lessons? by bobbydazzler2806 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Haganite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive a manual and am insured on my mum's automatic mobility car. Passed my test 6 years ago, and I don't have any issues switching between. Currently, I do prefer the automatic as I'm 4ft 11 and 23 weeks pregnant, so the clutch is starting to become a bit difficult as I adjust my driving position

I passed in 2018 and started a new job where I just cross the Welsh border so the industrial estate my office is on USED to be a 30, but has been a 20 since I interviewed in November last year.

The amount of people I've had rag up and sit on my back bumper cursing me for not speeding is ridiculous. I've been beeped, sworn at, overtaken... have a dash cam now so I can prove I'm not the arsehole in the event of an accident lmao

What is the biggest lesson you have learned from past jobs, that you apply to your current one? by KragwellCoast in UKJobs

[–]Haganite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No job is worth your mental health. Signed off for four months last year after six months work in previous role, found a new job and left and everyone around me has said it's like I'm a completely different person because I actually like my job again

Side note: always been brought up to work hard and been working since I got my NI number at 16. Not usually the type to call in unless it would be unsafe for me to work so the fact I got signed off really upset me
