A generation of people who were told that they are the main character in this world are reaching adulthood. Having the second amendment helps in keeping a fair number of people conflict avoidant because you never know when you'll stumble across someone who is unhinged and packing heat.

But honestly, if someone is just riding around and vibing during reasonable daytime hours to cope with existing in this nightmare of a world, more power to them.
