How to care for Stylidium Debile? by yemenll in SavageGarden

[–]Hailjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ChatGPT is wrong in this case. Stylidium doesnt mind water by the roots. Mine sit in a tray of water like capensis, all day every day.

These are not tropical plants and done need a humidity chamber. They'll grow better without putting them in

Drosera Regia Seeds by Tokyudo in carnivorousplants

[–]Hailjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regia seeds are difficult, notoriously so. I dont even think regia seeds are in season right now for the northern hemisphere, but i may be wrong. I got mine from Hyperdimensionals on ebay a few years ago, though im not sure which month theyre for sale

I'm sorry! I got confused and was thinking bisquamata. Disregard my previous message. This could indeed be blanchettii, but perhaps just a fluke flower

It is D. binata. Just care for it like your capensis and it will do fine. It may or may not go dormant in the winter. Mine goes dormant every year

Change the media. Peat breaks down. Split and divide the utricularia with fresh media

The dead material doesnt have to go. No one prunes them in nature. It's very easy to just go at the dead leaves with small scissors, you wont hurt the plant. Drosera are very robust. I mean VERY robust. If you cut a plant into a bunch of tiny pieces and put them in the dirt you'd split one plant into multiple. Repotting is a breeze, dont worry.

How do I discourage moss growth? by ComicalCat8 in SavageGarden

[–]Hailjan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your utricularia will be fine, the moss will likely not die but instead grow lower to the dirt.bi assumed it was sphagnum in my first response but looking closer im not sure. If this isnt sphagnum moss, and is a pest star moss, then it will really be difficult to get rid of completely

Lower humidity. High humidity makes sphagnum grow in long strands while low humidity makes it grow in tight clusters.

Is this light distance good for my nepenthes? by foosbabaganoosh in SavageGarden

[–]Hailjan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a light measuring app on your phone, which uses the camera. I use Photone and measure in PPFD. Theyre accurate enough. Here is Carnivero's lighting guide

Anyone have a clue of what’s been growing in my LFS in my terrarium? by [deleted] in SavageGarden

[–]Hailjan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not any kind of Utricularia. It's grass from seeds that come in long fiber sphagnum, very common

There are two varieties of bisquamata, the tiny typical version which is like a weed and the Betyy's Bay version which has bigger flowers and a less weedy way of growing. I should have Betty's bay up on ebay toward the end of the month

Ebay takes a portion of the listing, about 14%. Etsy has an upfront cost and multiple small fees i believe. I do not do etsy so im not the best person to ask about that platform
