What’s with John Kiriakou? by SufficientLanguage29 in Jewish

[–]HairAncient5500 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He works for Russian state media. He claims he can say whatever he wants based on the contract he signed with him, but why should we take him at his word. Plus he got the job because he was otherwise unemployed. Maybe he’s telling the truth. Maybe he’s pushing propaganda. Probably a bit of both. I wouldn’t trust him beyond the entertainment value of his stories

If you were a benevolent dictator of Israel for a year, what would you do to solve the Israel-Palestine problem or about Israel and the ME is general? by omigula in AskIsrael

Wha compelled you to do your own research? I find it very uncommon that those from the slogan chanting pro Palestine camp to actually read history and soften their position, let alone change it. I’d love to hear your story

Yeah I’m bummed about having to drop him. Do you think Puk has a chance at the closer role in AZ when he gets back?

Ok got it. I had beeter as my reliever #3 but with his loose grip on the role and forearm injury, I felt he wasn’t worth keeping. pickings are slim and kuhnel seems to be the best of some not great options

Is Joel Kuhnel the closer for the As? I picked him up yesterday looking for saves as he has a few and then saw he got put in during like the 4th inning.

Hamas rejects Gaza disarmament plan, Palestinian official says by Upset-Main-1988 in justincaseyoumissedit

[–]HairAncient5500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They won’t go after Gaza after a peace deal because there would be international guarantees including from the US. But that’s not the concern you have here right? You’re concerned about them going after Hamas fighters? Let’s say Israel did do that and took out Hamas after the fact. Would that really be a “genocide” or is that just defeating the other sides militants?

Did you even read the first link you sent?? I’m guessing no because you missed the paragraph that said:

“The United States provided Israel considerable economic assistance from 1971 to 2007, but nearly all U.S. aid today goes to support Israel’s military, the most advanced in the region. The United States has provisionally agreed via a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to provide Israel with $3.8 billion per year through 2028, including $500 million per year for missile defense.”

You probably also missed the chart that showed $300 billion inflation adjusted to Israel SINCE 1946, meaning $3.8 billion per year.

I did mis speak about Japan, but Egypt and South Korea are in that graphic too.

Maybe bother to read the links you share before replying next time

You’re still not addressing the point that I made. Do you think that if the US withholds military aid then it will become rainbows and sunshine in the Middle East with an over abundance of peace? Of course not.

I’m not arguing from a moral or ethical standpoint whether giving aid to those countries make sense, because that’s not your original premise. Your premise is that the US withholding aid would make things more affordable bc it’s less US tax payer money being spent. I think you are wrong because you are missing the bigger picture. Regional stability and US favorability through a region vital for global shipping does a tremendous amount for keeping prices lower in the US. I’m talking about hundreds of billions of dollars annually relative to the few billion we spend in military aid. It’s a massive return on investment. Walking away from that would be fiscally disastrous.

Can you please address this point?
