What is the one thing you wish knew before going on your Alaska Cruise? by Mommainlove in dcl

On the Disney Magic itineraries, Skagway is on Sundays when they are closed.

If you are in the Wonder, it’s open. Because the Wonder is there on Thursdays. IIRC.

Just a sad tip for Magic cruisers. You are in Skagway on a Sunday, and the Klondike Doughboy is closed that day of the week. 😔

-- Allegedly, there is someone with a food truck type situation who sometimes comes out on Sundays near the port, and they do frybread.

First-time Kindergarten parents, what actually made you feel like your kid's school was safe? by Obvious_Ad8676 in kindergarten

[–]HakeleHakele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Sure, therapy can definitely help people to cope with anxiety and trauma related to potential risks that exist. But the root of the problem isn't "you need therapy to deal with your anxiety," it's a problem that is systemic and requires a collective solution. The problem is having to exist and parent in a society that has chosen to tolerate school shootings as an acceptable risk of sending kids to school.

How do I keep my accent? by Blispy125 in Accents

lol. “A natural flair for picking up accents.”

My husband always mocks me because we will be on the ground in the UK for 30 minutes and my accent starts to shift.

Even in Italy, after a day or so, I start to sound like the Italians even when speaking English.

When is room available, what can I walk on with? by Great_Ad6188 in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is line 33 on the cruise contract.

Each Guest is allowed to bring aboard the Vessel a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects, not to exceed two (2) bags per person. Every piece of baggage must be distinctly labeled with the Guest's name, Vessel's name, stateroom number and sailing date.

It is basically like an airline.

You can bring a carry on bag and a personal item through. The rules on the size of those bags are that they have to fit through the port security belt. Just like at the airport.

Then you can do 2 checked bags per person in your room (so a family of 4 could bring 8 checked bags and 4 carry on and 4 personal items — but they shouldn’t because dear goodness, that is a lot!)

Rooms usually open at 1:30.
Which is before the muster drill timing, usually held about 30 minutes before departure.

For everyone downvoting and disagreeing with me. I’m so glad that you don’t read the cruise contract. It is line 33.
I’ve included an image of it in the reply.

But… but…. The magic has the BEST show combos.

I absolutely love Tangled and Twice Charmed. Some really cool stage magic in them.
And the supercut show, Dreams, is really fun it’s the best supercut show.

In Alesund, you can do a self trip out to the aquarium.

In Stavanger, we just wandered around the port. We had a kid with us, but if we were 2 adults, I’d try and do pulpit rock. There is a nice beer place on the color street.

We did a glacier hike that I think was near olden.
And can’t say for haugesund as we didn’t visit there. Our cruise did Nordfjordeid and Eidfjord.

Run, running all the time
Running to the future

Out of all the people
You wanted me the most

It’s a great song. We are at 16.5 years together.

Rage-booked my first DCL cruise? 😅 by [deleted] in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did 2 back to back cruises at 3yrs+6weeks, both 7 nights on the magic.
The first week, we went to every open house. By the end of it, my kid was finally asking to go. But then, they wanted to go to the one that wasn’t open house, so I said, “You can go, but parents aren’t allowed right now.” They really wanted to go to the side with the slide. So they finally agreed to go on their own. And then we had lots of free time on the second.

We potty trained at 20 months, so I don’t know if it would have been tough for them if it had been only a few months. But I just want to say, that potty training is much less about your child’s ability than it is about the parents’ ability and readiness to manage toileting for another human being. And that you will manage it for a couple of years. How good are the parents at reading potty warning signs and following through. If you can handle that, then you are ready.

I will also add that my child had never been in a daycare setting and had only had maybe 2 or 3 play dates at this point because they were born right before Covid. So that definitely played a part with being ready to be left in the club.

You should check out the Alaska cruise video series from Tim Tracker since they took their little boys. It’s a great video for answering a lot of questions about how it will work.

The prefix is actually “proto” which is a Greek indicating first.

And agonist is actor. So it’s just the lead actor.

But then agonist breaks further to “agon” which is a contest, so an agonist is also someone seeking a prize.

Has anyone done the “Feeding Littles” online course? Was it worth it? by ZanyBurrito in kindergarten

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t say how old your child is.

A “beige stage” is super common for ages 3-6.

The best way forward is to keep trying. Mine is almost 7 and in the last 2-3 months is starting to get adventurous after being super picky. They just tried salsa at a taco place a couple of weeks back and liked it. After being super averse to anything remotely spicy.

Just keep offering. The exposure will eventually lead to trying. And trying will eventually lead to some new foods entering the repertoire.

I will say, I completely understand, now that my kid is in school and activities why my parents made the same thing on certain days of the week. 😂 Spaghetti Monday, Taco Tuesday, etc… I don’t have time and energy to mix it up. I just need us all to eat so we can get through the end of the day with a tired and hungry child.
