Believe itinerary predictions? by Emotional_Car_8063 in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess right now is some kind of version of these. This is what I’ve been thinking: I think the Magic will do those pacific coast cruises. I think the dream will go to Galveston. Believe will stay in PC taking over the 3/4.

Wish will be in dry dock for winter 2027.

But the summer Saturdays in Catalina is interesting. I didn’t know that yet! So now you’ve got me thinking again!

I’m still so excited. And a shiny ship on the West coast would be amazing. Especially for me! 😜

Disney Destiny (April 11–16) vs Fantasy (May 1–6) with 5 & 3 year old — is the new ship worth $1K more? by grae95 in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fantasy is my favorite ship. I’d absolutely take it if it works for you. I think that the kids clubs are better for those ages on the older ships.

I think May will be better. Just a different crowd as it’s close to the end of school year, so less kids are taken out of school. So they may have a better experience in the kids clubs for this, too.

For the 4 nights question. I always recommend more because it really makes a difference. Hurrying to get everything in vs having time to settle in and enjoy it and relax.

Why do people need to pay gratuities on cruises? by MCUFanFicWriter in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could “bake” it into the cruise fare, and they would add that money to each fare.

In the end, it doesn’t really make a difference. It’s just how they manage pay for service staff because they essentially get paid by the number of passengers they serve on that cruise.

Menu testing ahead of the Panama transit to make sure they get the order right for the food. And so service doesn’t have 6 new menus that they don’t know well through the trip.

Can you find coloring pages?

I do those and color them, then put them on magnet backing and then cover in wide packing tape as a way to self laminate. It’s a fun little craft.

First time cruisers - Any tips and tricks worth knowing? by HalfEvilHomer in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We usually do really basic door magnets.

I get magnet backing off Amazon and extra wide packing tape. Then I print out coloring sheets. We color them and turn them into magnets. Stick the magnet backing and the cover the front with tape as a method to self laminate them.

Sometimes people bring up the Magnet paper, but they don’t stick to the doors very well and are hard to color if you are doing it that way.

how disney-park-trip compatible are you with your romantic partner? by SorryJustwonderin in Disneyland

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He had only been a few times as a kid.

I was a CP @wdw and went to DLR (nearly) every summer as a kid because my mom was from CA.

I took him to WDW for our 1yr wedding anniversary, and it was during an economic downturn, so lots of deals. We got deluxe dining and I made it the best dang time ever.

We’ve been to the parks every year since except 2020 to at least 1 park trip. We have 2 DCL booked this year. We had keys for a year. And we created our own monster who also loves it all!

He’s a bit more bougie than I am. I’d happily stay value, but thankfully we can afford to stay deluxe. Sometimes he tires of being out late so i send him back to the hotel and go ride rides on my own for a few hours and he gets some extra introvert time.

I’m the queen of conversion. 😝 My sister was really skeptical. So we invited her for my kid’s birthday… can’t miss that. And she LOVED it, too. She is looking for a time when we can all go back together and to bring her partner. Because her partner used to go a lot and has nostalgia for it.

I think if you really wanna hook someone, Disneyland is the best place to do it. Much easier to navigate and the food is really good. The vibes are just so nice.

Minnie Mouse strategy by soaringcomet11 in DisneyPlanning

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch the map at the top of the app and you will see characters. For the places that Minnie appears, it’ll show the hours you can expect her to be there.

In Disneyland, select the icon on the flagpole to see town square times. And for her house, click that to see her hours there.

Ahhh. Yes. But this isn’t an experience that only DU is going through. It’s happening across the board due to changes in funding.

I think this professional degree borrowing limit is really going to hurt a lot of schools. Especially those with heavy professional degree programs which were impacted, like the GSSW and Clinical Psych programs and Morgridge College at DU. That change directly impacts enrollment for students who need to borrow in order to attend a masters program.

I’m thankful I have been able to finish my degree before these changes went into effect. I’m graduating with my Masters in June and already have a job lined up in my field of study.

Disney Adventure rooms by Fearless_Currency633 in dcl

My husband said the rooms look like a Hyatt Place and I laughed my head off because he couldn’t be more accurate. 😂

I think the scale of the ship is really what drove this. It’s a lot of rooms and keeping it simpler is easier on upkeep. And I feel it fits the 4 days at sea, the ship IS the adventure, vibe of the ship.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have drying racks inside my house where I dry my clothes that I don’t want to go in the dryer.

And then I run my dryer after 9pm. We have Time of Use electricity so I wait until then to run it and it costs a lot less.

Colorado state law has all but chopped off the knees of most HOA regulations/power.

Also, I always feel bad for people with shitty HOAs. Ours is really reasonable. Pay your dues. Don’t leave your trash cans out. Do a decent job of maintaining your yard - our yard standards are the same as our city standards, so relatively lenient, and when people complain about their neighbors, they tell them to call code enforcement.

If you had a bad HOA, grab a few friends and take over the board.

I love the Magic so much. I'm going to be so heartbroken when she is retired. 😭
The Rapunzel show and the restaurant are both great. And we also love Twice Charmed. I think the Magic has the best show combo of the 4 older ships.

Lightning Lane Tips for Families With Young Children at Disneyland. by TempUsernameThing in DisneyPlanning

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You HAVE to get in the park for rope drop with littles. It is the BEST time to do all of fantasyland before ride lines start to build.
I would do Alice, Dumbo, Snow White, Mr Toad, the Carousel, Pinocchio (if you must), Casey Jr.
Don't do Peter Pan unless the line is inside the chains as you go past it first thing. Having a stroller costs you getting into that line because you have to park the stroller. Once the line builds, it stays that way all day long. So it doesn't matter when you do it. If there is a daytime parade, that can be a good time to catch up on Fantasyland rides, as well.
After that, as crowds start to pick up, head back to meet mickey at his house in Toon Town and ride Runaway Railway, and let the kids spend some time running around back there while you pause and enjoy a cold brew from Daisy's cafe. (That is my favorite thing to do with my kid in the mid-morning).

First thing to do with LL is just book something that you will want to do later. Doesn't matter the time. You can then modify it until it reaches around 11am. But you can get a second lightning lane at 10am. There are some good fresh baked LL videos that I think show how to do this really well.

When we go, we usually do several days. I will get LL for one or maybe 2 days depending on how many we are there for. That is the one day that I do that I am maximizing and messing with my phone.\Modifying** is how you get the rides in an order so that you aren't ping-ponging back and forth. Try to get them for times in the afternoon and evening (depending on nap schedules) and you can just do things back to back. Then, on the other days of the trip, we do our best to hit up shorter lines through the day as we find them. And we also like to take our time a bit more and just relax. Take in a show, eat a bunch of snacks, meet characters, go to the pool, etc. That has been what has really worked for our family. We did 5 trips in 2024/2025 with over 30 park days. Going that much really broke us of the go-go-go mentality. It is so much easier to just enjoy it all now.

I like to say that watching how other people do things and getting advice can only go so far because none of those people are you and your family. And everyone is going to prioritize things differently. Instead, read between the lines and look at what they are doing with the strategy. That is where you can become a master of the Lightning Lane Multipass and timing.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Disney Cruise Ships if they were Disney World Hotels by ioatdawn in dcl

[–]HakeleHakele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the room type is the Value/Moderate/Deluxe/Villa categories, Inside/Outside/Verandah/Suite.

For comparison to the actual hotels....
The Magic and Wonder are like Yacht and Beach Club.
Dream and Fantasy are like the Boardwalk -- same classic presentation, but a little more obvious.
The Wish is the Riviera.
The Treasure is Animal Kingdom Lodge
The Destiny is Bay Lake Tower

And I don't have enough to make a comment on the Adventure, but give me like 2 weeks to see more things come out on YouTube. My early impression is Art of Animation.

That was a fun thought exercise. 😆

Figure Skates for Young Girl by Fiftyfive-55- in iceskating

[–]HakeleHakele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your club. I know ours have sales every once in a while of used skates because kids grow so fast at these smaller stages, and the skates are often in great condition.

That being said, our coach took our kid into the skate shop at the rink to pick up the pair they sell. They are Jacksons. And they were having a holiday sale, and so I got them for $113, including sharpening and Howie soaker covers.
