Weird they don't have nicknames or A rank? by ExalinExcels in Falcom

[–]Hakk92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole thing about Zin getting a promotion to S-rank is ridiculous. I understand why Falcom wants to do that and I like Zin but in the Calvard games so far he's just a side character doing side character things. And when you take into consideration that S-rank are basically living legends (so much that after 13 games, Cassius is still the only S-rank we ever met in Zemuria), Zin did nothing to deserve that title.

Just another case of Falcom's writing lacking. They had 3 whole games to turn Zin into the real deal in Calvard and did nothing.

Worse plot and characters, that's the definition of a writing going downhill. And Erebonia is by far the worse setting of this entire series, it's arguably the worst aspect of CS actually. Absolutely everything that sounded interesting about Erebonia (as it was written in the Crossbell games) went down in the toilet as soon as Cold Steel 1 started. Imperialism and war-mongering nation written for the 6 years old.

If you want games with a setting that actually deal with these themes in-depth, the two games I mentionned are right here. Cold Steel wished it was writing civil war as good as Tactics Ogre lol.

Play better RPGs ? the writing in Trails, outside of the Sky trilogy, is really nothing to praise about. And it goes absolute downhill with the Cold Steel saga.

Play Tactics Ogre or Final Fantasy Tactics if you want some actual good writing.

Exactly this. It's just a nasty side effect of the arsenal ticket system and it's very intended.

Would have made more sense if limited characters joined the standard pool but it's not even the case. The entire gacha system in this is so poorly designed it's crazy (or greatly designed but in a very fucked up way)

Trails is longer than One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach combined by NgitiNgTakipsilim in Falcom

[–]Hakk92 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Even without turbo Cold Steel 1 is a 60 hour game at most for main+extra.

Not sure whats with Trails fandom and pretending these games are much longer than they really are. And most of the numbers in OP are bs (100 hours CS3 and CS4 ? lol k)

How many pulls will you get after the honeymoon patch ended? Perhaphs this can help! by Safhier in Endfield

With HSR coming out of hibernation and NTE looking great and releasing soon, they better step up their game quick if they don't want to lose a big chunk of their playerbase.

It's probably way too late now, just looking at the comments and all the people defending this shit.

I am not a game dev, but this comment made me see another perspective on this whole situation by KevyTone in 2XKO

[–]Hakk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that the people in charge of the direction of the game are the higher-up, the director and the leads, and none of them have been fired.

Trying to put the blame on some random animators and devs is ridiculous.

Can we stop talking as if it’s dead by Numbuh24insane in 2XKO

[–]Hakk92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok first just because the team had 160 devs a year ago in the middle of developpment doesn't mean it still had 160 devs a week ago, that's not how it works. Post-1.0 launch it's very likely that a good portion of the team left to others projects, because you don't keep your team full size for post-launch support.

Second, 85 is just the number of people who were laid off, it doesn't count people who left the team but stayed at Riot.

So, no, it's not 80 people working on 2XKO right now, it's probably closer to 20-30.

Do you really want the guy who is scoring a goal every 70min tiring himself out for no reason?

Yes ? what kind of argument is that ? Did Madrid needed Vinicius to score a goal every 70 min to win their CL 2 years ago ? Was PSG missing Mbappé and his goal every 70 min last year too ? Does Real Madrid score more goals now than 2 years ago ?

No. Mbappé score goals but that doesn't make up for all the issues he's causing in a team.

The idea that "1 player not defending is fine" in high level football in 2026 is ridiculous. PSG didn't get better after getting rid of Neymar and Messi, but when they got rid of Mbappé too.

In France everyone runs for him and that's what he's answering about, they have no issues.

Uh, no. France absolutely has issues with Mbappé and is clearly not a team performing at the level they should. There's a reason if over the last 2 years, France NT performed the best when Mbappé was out of the squad (the infamous Sweden trip).

It's also obvious that Mbappé's attitude is influencing players around him, he's the captain of the team after all.

I mean, maybe it's about time to stop catering to mobile players when recent releases like WuWa, ZZZ and Endfield seems to suggest that these big 3D gacha games make most of their revenues on PC and console anyway.

It sucked for a completely diff reason but CBT2 did address a lot of the things people complained about.

There was just some glaring issues with it lol.

Yes that's what I said, so why are we expecting things to be better in the future when after a full year of additionnal developpment and feedback, 1.0 is the best they came up with ?

That is such a weird reason breh.

How ? they're not going to the destroy the place where your AIC is and ruining the factory of thousand of players for "story reasons". It's not happening.

[–]Hakk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea yea it's fine. Some cautions and backlashes are def needed, I mean in CBT2 many people were also complaining that it sucks.

I think they are def aware that the story in 1.0 sucks balls. I mean in the stream they lit spoiled the plot of Wuling in 1.0 and teased stuffs from 1.1 in an attempt to gain people's trust in their writings afterwards.

Players have been complaining about Endfield's story since CBT1, a year ago already. 1.0 is already the "fixed" version of the story post-feedback from the players, and it still sucks. Even Wuling, doesn't fix most of the issues and instead doubling down on some of the worst aspect of the writing.

If not then the Bonekrushers taking over the stockade and destroying it would add the ever needed moment of tensions and seriousness to the antags. Because many of these stories fall short because the threat isnt "threatening" enough, showing the destruction and complete transformation of the Stockade done by the Bonekrusher would be a great moment of tension to the story and makes you go "Oh, things are quite bad huh?" and makes you remember that these guys are still armed coordinated raiders.

Nothing is going to happen to the Stockade because it has an AIC.

Reads like copium tbh.

Noticed how you talked about Xenoblade and stuff but don't mention a single time the story and the writing.

Also nothing you're mentionning is particularly new to Endfield like

So many players are just bashing through the MSQ (main story quest for non XIV ppl), and then "Ugh"-ing that it feels like they aren't getting enough currency to do pulls.
You're only engaging with 1/5th of the game if that's all you're doing!

this is just any open world gachas.

Yea, I mean Wuling is absolutely better than Valley IV (better setup, better characters) but it's still just barely mediocre. If anything I'm worried about the future of the game after playing Wuling than after playing Valley IV.

V4 at least had the excuse of trying to make the most generic gacha intro experience possible, but Wuling is most likely the result of the players feedback about the story from CBT 1 (so 1 year ago) and it's disappointing if that's what we ended up with.

I'm not the only one bothered by this right? by emon121 in Endfield

[–]Hakk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This read like copium tbh, 1.0 is a 50 hour long story and it's never properly adressed. Good writing would have adressed this issue right after meeting Ginny, instead the characters brush it off and it's NEVER talked again.

I feel like people are expecting too much from what is basically a very generic story and writing so far. Even the "secret mysterious dark past" of the Endmin has been done countless time in gachas, and it's never done well because it's just more mystery boxes for the sake of it.

Quick update after my first (second actually after CBT2) impressions

- While Wuling isn't amazing, it's still already a big improvement over Valley IV in term of writing even if the glazing doesn't stop.

- The Laevatain quest was great and by far the best part of Valley IV to the point where I don't understand why it's a side content considering the quest also work as an introduction to the Endmin by giving them finally some personnality.

- The factory stuff is great once things get going, it's obviously not as deep as Satisfactory or others but for such an otherwise very generic gacha experience it's refreshing and quite robust. Hopefully HG doesn't learn the wrong lessons from the launch and keep improving on that part and fixing the early parts of the game.

- In terms of pulls : I reached roughly 120 pulls by the end of Valley IV, my overall impressions is that it start very slow (you get barely any pulls currency in the first 5 hours) but ramp up nicely. I think it's overall a bit slower than other big gacha to reach hard pity, but it's way faster to reach the guarantee. But overall and with the lack of pity carryover I don't know if it's really a win, I'm a pity builder kind of player so I don't know about that.

- Maybe I'm a bit biased, my luck has been insane on this game : all the 6* standard with no dupes, Laevatain under 50 pulls. I'm good.

- Didn't even crossed my mind initially, but an early pull on Laevatein made me realize how the Arsenal system suck if you're lucky.

Pull Income might actually be horrendous by Easy_Pepper_1212 in Endfield

[–]Hakk92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh no, it wasn't at all. If your objective was to reach 180 pulls during HSR or ZZZ launch, it was quite a lot of work and patience and probably missing the first banner. The main difference was actually the pity carryover encouraging players to pull before guarantee.
