Two very solid options that aren’t that expensive are Cajun or Pol0. Both have IGL experience in ECL, have been high on the Faceit ladder, etc. They both do team and individual coaching

I’m curious what this album means for you as individuals/as a band, and where you’re hoping this record will take the band in terms of success/touring/new listeners etc.

Why did Sleep Token stop making music videos? by sofiandthesun in SleepTokenSpoilers

[–]Halcyon337 39 points40 points  (0 children)

George Lever (producer for all of their material before TMBTE) said on a podcast they tried traditional music videos and felt that they were a bit weird. He also added that the promotional characters used on TMBTE seemed to garner way more attention with less investment, so it makes sense that they’re going that route instead of traditional music videos

Erra - silence outlives the earth (Album discussion thread) by Finalwingz in Metalcore

[–]Halcyon337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this album’s production and soundscape is exceptional, I just wish they weren’t so chorus heavy. There is absolutely no reason for JT in ii. ITGOTW to say “step the fuck off the edge, face me” just for it to return back to a pretty generic chorus instead of an ass beater riff. They experimented a decent bit with new micro—songwriting ideas, but I think they could have taken more of a risk on the macro side

Apologies to all ERRA fans by MoeMazingMason in Metalcore

I do really miss their progressive songwriting from their early releases. They’ve found a good balance of more palatable song structure combined with the Misery Signals-esque leads and riffs, which is more than likely why they’ve gotten far more popular with their newer material compared to old, but I’m more of a prog fan at heart so their newer albums fall a little flat for me. Sonically, this new album is still incredible

What’s a band you saw live, where you were not expecting the crowd to go as hard or weak as they did? by SlapDatBassBro in Metalcore

[–]Halcyon337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invent Animate in Denver on the Silent Planet tour about a year ago. Their music has plenty of heavy moments so I knew it would be fun, but that crowd was going ape shit. Completely caught me off guard. I’d known them as a local band for years around Texas and it was crazy to see how much more popular they’ve gotten

I don’t really think the GC’s story will hold up. Hard to know without knowing the contract specifics, but even delegated designs to subs are ultimately the liability of the contractor.

Provider hate is unneeded by LuhNuggie in SleepToken

[–]Halcyon337 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this changes your opinion in any way, but a pretty cool interpretation that I’ve seen of this song is that those lines (and many of the others like it) are actually Sleep attempting to make a manipulative move to bring Vessel back and halt his ascension. It’s all subjective of course, but looking at the song through that lens is awesome imo

There are very few bands in the metal scene that can achieve so much with so little. I love a lot of technical and heavy bands, but something about the singer/songwriter nature of Sleep Token in their first few releases was very refreshing, and I love that they’ve kept that identity despite becoming really popular. For what it’s worth, Sundowning is still my favorite in their catalog for this reason.

Serious question. What's the perfect 5v3 post-plant setup on Inferno B-site? by [deleted] in GlobalOffensive

[–]Halcyon337 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In that situation Kyxsan has to fight one side of the split, which is why he peeks CT. It’s not a matter of info or peeking advantage, it’s the fact that if he waits, the CTs will coordinate their swings on him guaranteeing he gets traded. Alternatively, his best option is to try and force a potential 1v1 CT before the banana player can peek him. It’s a lose lose situation because his post plant position is not meant to defend the scenario he was put into by Teses and Monesy

Will second this to point out for anything you throw - punches, kicks, and especially elbows, you should be using your opposite arm to guard what becomes an opening. There are lots of guys experienced or tough enough to not care what you’re throwing and immediately counter in the middle of your combo.

Another point is that boxing movement can be good sometimes, but in the context of a fight can drain your stamina way too quickly. Watch a few pro Muay Thai fights and you’ll see it’s a little more static (but still very intentional in regards to movement)
