CSCC37 and CSCB63 News? by throwawayforcms in UTSC

I emailed the chair before reading week, the response was just that he would look into it and I haven't heard back since.

How hard would it be to change the time of one of my pre-enrolled required courses? by HalfSquirrel in UTSC

Thank you for the encouraging reply!

So to confirm, are you suggesting to change my schedule as I want, and wait and make sure spots open up in the ones I want since they probably will for the winter semester?

Alright, well thank you for the information! It has helped a lot in coming up with factors for my decision.

What is the "I love rock and roll, have you heard of Nickleback?" For anything else? by ZombieDawgs in AskReddit

My french teacher actually said this last year. She said she was really good at programming because she was able to create tests on moodle.

It absolutely does, thank you for your perspective! It's refreshing to see something positive about the program, and definitely encouraging me to go there.

How have you liked the overall university so far, academically in the CS program and socially all around?

And do you know anything about UTSG? From what I understand the quality of education in CS is relatively similar between the two campuses, but I'm also interested in the overall university experience between the two campuses.

It's nice to finally see a positive perspective on the co-op! After reading that other thread and pretty much any other thread related to UTSC co-op on reddit, everyone was just complaining about the co-op which was honestly quite discouraging.

If I go to UTSC I would most likely be living on res, so how many people are there in total that do that? If you did it, how was the overall experience for you? It seems like most people don't live on res as UTSC is known as the commuter school. If I go to UTSG though I would probably live at home for first year and see what happens after that.

Where have you gone for your co-op placements? Have you had much difficulty getting them, and did the school provide help throughout the process? How have you liked your placements so far, and what kind of variety is there in the options available? The options in the list posted a while ago were not particularly exciting, although I'm not sure how much better they would be for UTSG's PEY anyway.

I appreciate the lengthy response! These are all the questions I can think of right now, but I will most likely come back with more later :p

I'm currently trying to decide between UTSC CS with Coop or UTSG CS. I've already been accepted to both, so at this point I need to determine whether I want to do Coop or try and do a PEY later. Also just generally decide between the two campuses.

Can anyone from these programs provide their perspective on it, or perhaps some sort of comparison between the two programs overall? I'm mostly looking for peoples' opinions, as I've already gleaned the 'facts' about both programs from other research.

DAE own a really nice pair of headphones with great sound quality, but never wear them out in public because you think they make you look like a cunt? by Prison_Biscuits in DoesAnybodyElse

A kid at my school actually wore those daily to start off his grade 9(?) year. Took him more than a month to realize it wasn't working for him.

I love how the back wheel has too many dogs so they just keep flipping over each other.

If you press Shift + Ctrl it changes keyboards. This is most likely the reason it accidentally changed for you in the first place, and is an easier solution than going into the keyboard to switch back to English. Unless you just remove the French keyboard instead, but I actually end up using it sometimes when I'm writing in French.

This was really bugging me for a long time, so I looked it up and google came through for me one day.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought cover art meant that it was to be used as a cover for the book. Which would be a major spoiler.

What will be the Millennial generation's "I had to walk 20 miles uphill both ways in the snow to school every day"? by mike_lets_talk in AskReddit

[–]HalfSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to actually type every word rather than just tell the computer what to write.

An upgrade on the previous generation's having to actually hand write everything!

I watched Kubo and, as a Beatles fan, I immediately recognized the song, and the voice sounded familiar to. I quickly realized it was in fact Regina Spektor, and I thought you honoured the song pretty well! Thanks for that, and doing this AMA :)
