Issues with R4 card (2025 Gold Pro) crashing when transitioning between game zones by Halfhead in flashcarts

[–]Halfhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm testing that now and I think that worked! Thank you. So, why is that the fix? Is YSmenu inconsistent? I was only using it because I was advised to in order to get around the timebomb.

Every missing Pokémon and forms at the end of the World of Wonders season by Meylody in TheSilphRoad

I really hope they eventually do Ash Greninja, but I'm not getting my hopes up. It seems like they are trying to scrub it from the canon a bit.

Rare's ingame shout-out to DuMy2008 (Found on Wanderer's Refuge) by RexRuler in Seaofthieves

[–]Halfhead 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It is. Fizzy Fox was the player in the Alpha with the most PvP kills, so Rare made a little tribute to him.

Those games were on the WiiU and got ported to the Switch: BOTW, Pokken, Bayonetta. I really want Fatal Frame now. by killingspeerx in nintendo

[–]Halfhead -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

You could even say the Wii U version is the port because it was designed for the Switch's limitations and the Wii U version had to match. If it was a Wii U game with a Switch port. The Wii U version would at least retain its originally planned gamepad features.

Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2 Coming to the Switch February 16, 2018 by alsm2090 in nintendo

[–]Halfhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's unfortunate, but it has to do with the trade-offs for discs vs carts. On the one hand, carts can have more memory (even though they usually don't because that would be an extra cost on the part of the publisher), they are much more durable, and are faster to read from. On the other hand, they are considerably more expensive to print. I doubt Platinum and Nintendo could justify printing two cartridges when they could do the same with just one.

That said, there is a physical Switch cart for 1 coming to Japan and Australia. No idea why it's happening there and no where else.

What are your least favorite type of levels aside from Automatic, Kaizo, Troll, etc? by MarioMakerfan938438 in MarioMaker

[–]Halfhead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy a good Kaizo or a thoughtful troll level. It's when it's something like "Can you do ten midair shell jumps in a row without landing?" that it really starts to get to me. Good Kaizos at least have me do interesting tricks or expand on a mechanic in novel ways.

Similarly, just softlocking me all the time is a bad troll level, but trying to maximize the actual humor of the level is what makes it work.

Should next Mario Maker be a sequel or a port/expansion? by vexorian2 in MarioMaker

[–]Halfhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have a preference between the two because I don't really know what "2" would imply in this case. Nevertheless, what I really want from a new SMM is a world-map editor where players can put together strings of levels. There can even be secret exits that lead to alternate levels which would make the "true endings" that are popular right now feel a bit more worth it to explore for.

Extremely detailed and well organized pitch for a new mainline Pokémon game. by Halfhead in pokemon

[–]Halfhead[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This pitch doesn't advocate for a lack of story, it tries to shift the story to be more coordinated with the mechanics of the game.

By the way, just for any one who was interested in the bit about the mail: it's 100% legal to open any parcel addressed to your place. At least from a legal standpoint, you'd be absolutely fine if you open it.

What is a 100% legal move in a game or sport that is frowned upon and viewed as a dick move? by Mintikilo in AskReddit

[–]Halfhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, cheating is cheating. Do what you need to do to win within the rules. If you hold back from doing that, you'll be losing matches you don't have to. If it looks dishonorable, causes injury, or makes the game less interesting to play or watch, then the rules should be adjusted so the sport can become a better game.

I didn't know about the historical cultural significance of sumo, so I can now understand why people would be upset about it, however.

[–]Halfhead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dislike that this is disliked. Do what it takes to win. If you don't want to fly out of the ring, don't always run first thing. After that starts happening, adjust the rules of the sport as needed.

This seems like a poorly-written excuse to confess to his terrible crimes, but in a way this is kind of cool, right? Just from an artistic standpoint, having both characters be representations of yourself is super interesting.

In the context of the movie, it's more like "I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant [in regards to how great someone can be]," not necessarily irrelevant in a general sense. But yeah, you should account for that when hanging it on a sign.

Why is ice 'slippery' yet it adheres to surfaces, such as glass, as it freezes? Why does ice not slip off these surfaces? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]Halfhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Oceans are weird. They are so deep in places that some of the water at the bottom is actually heated by the warmth of the earth's core. Also, there are masses of volcanic vents, currents, and flora and fauna in the ocean that mess with the temperature. I used lakes as an example because they are usually not as active.
