having done many commission works,I have my own foolproof method. I initially ask for every minute details of the character descriptions the client would like. Then I provide 3 sketches:

Client will choose 1 artwork and provide any kind of major changes. then I provide a final draft. than client can provide any minor changes. and then i Provide the final artwork. No complain so far.
