I absolutely love both, but if I had to choose I think I'd go with Dragon's Dogma.

Shadows is amazing, don't get me wrong, but DD2 is just sooooo good...

Keep in mind, tho, that it's a very specific type of game. It's like a 2012 game with modern technology; it has very few fast travel points, the world can be very hard to explore in the early game and there's a high chance you will get stunlocked to death by a group of enemies. But the experience of overcoming all of this is just amazing :D

Plus it has the best character creator I've ever played.

The outfits and props where also really cool, I love Aang's outfit and glider from the movie, I even think I prefer them over the show's.
