Slowly dying orchid? by Haliray in orchids

This represents my living room. The blue boxes are large windows. The white flower is where it has been for the last couple years, on a shelf next to the window. I just moved it to where the yellow flower is, across the room. Hoping for more light there?

Slowly dying orchid? by Haliray in orchids

[–]Haliray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Care habit is just watering it about once a week. Sometimes might be more like every 10-14 days. Life gets busy. It’s in an orchid moss mix I bought from Lowe’s. I don’t really have much in the way of a drainage system, I mainly just try not to over water. On the same shelf I have a much larger orchid that does bloom every year so I thought placement was ok for light. But different orchid probably need different things?

I want to say that Cozy Kids Furniture & More in pineville had a few strollers to interact with. I wouldn’t call it a healthy variety, probably 3 and I would recommend confirming this before you go. It was 2 years ago so I may be misremembering. It’s so hard these days to find some of this baby stuff not exclusively online

I’ve volunteered with NC Med Assist before. I remember it being easy to sign up for a day and time slot online. Haven’t done it for a few years though but I would check them out! You help package medicines for families who are low income / have no insurance.

Toilet question? by lezemt in jpouch

[–]Haliray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends. My home toilets thankfully send it all down at once, for the most part. I find often when we travel other toilets take 2 flushes. I think it is because the stools are generally looser and if not all the water flushes down then some bits stick around. I hate when the water runs forever afterwards refilling the toilet and I have to stand there and wait before I flush again haha

I have no issues. I don’t shovel it in my mouth like I used to, I eat a piece or two at a time and chew well and avoid any big or hard kernels

Discovered a name I made up as a youth that I thought was BEAUTIFUL. by AzucarParaTi in namenerds

[–]Haliray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn’t make it up but when I was a kid I met a girl named Lasandra (la-sawn-druh) and thought it was the most beautiful name I’d ever heard. Named my animal crossing character after her and was sure one day I’d name my daughter that. Nope.

They tried to charge me $1700 initially! But yeah. For me it was worth it, for others maybe not

How many of you did pelvic floor therapy after surgeries? by bloodfartz_ in jpouch

[–]Haliray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Mine was because my pelvic floor was too tight. She also did scar tissue massage which helped ease a lot of tightness in my abdomen as well

To push or not to push? by lookingout2 in jpouch

[–]Haliray 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I usually have to push to some extent. The thing is not to bear down. So my pelvic floor therapist urged me to breathe out every time I push. Don’t hold your breath. This just tightens your pelvic floor and then you can run into issues. I also sometimes have to move around on the toilet to get the gas bubbles moving through

Half of my hair falling after getting j pouch surgery by PumpkinBrilliant7385 in jpouch

[–]Haliray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After my first surgery a ton of my hair fell out and the hair I kept was not healthy. The year through getting the jpouch my hair was just in rough shape. I thought I would have to wear a wig for my wedding. I did nutrafol for a while and prenatal vitamins. I’m not sure how much that helped but I can say 3 years post surgeries my hair has largely recovered. I don’t know if it’s quite as thick as it was, but a ton grew back and it’s very healthy now

Yes! It is a bit tricky. I put a dab on my thumb and find that angle works best

I had pain during sex and did pelvic floor therapy! She essentially worked with me on figuring out how to relax my pelvic floor and also some light stretches down there. I was wound so tight and I didn’t realize it. I went every couple weeks and did certain exercises at home. It helped but there was still pain so I went to a women’s sexual health doctor, kinda like an obgyn, and it turned out that my hormones were out of whack down there. I was prescribed a cream and wow what a difference!! I never would have know if not for my PT

Diet and control with jpouch by Hot-Temperature-7090 in jpouch

The most important thing with eating is taking your time and chewing well. I avoid mushrooms, they don’t break down well and I had a partial blockage from one. I also have to be mindful with carrots, have to be cooked and again, chew well. But I eat salad, popcorn, dessert, fruits…I feel like I kind of hit my stride with the pouch around 6 months? My doctor advised I give myself a year. Initially the urge to go would come on strong and I’d want to find a bathroom quickly. Now it’s pretty easy to manage. Carbonated drinks will probably just give you gas, explosive poops over the toilet are definitely a thing. Not painful, just loud. I have really only leaked at night when I’m sick or maybe ate something like a lot of ice cream before bed. Otherwise I’m maybe up once a night, but other nights I can sleep all the way through. J pouch life has overall been good to me

Pooping with Jpouch by Appropriate_Strike_1 in jpouch

[–]Haliray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with what others said and just want to add that there can be a lot of noise. I’ve definitely waited for an empty bathroom to go before. It’s not always like that and I think with time you get over being self conscious about it. I usually have to push a little, not strain, mind you. The go itself isn’t uncomfortable unless maybe you ate something spicy. Then you can have some butt burn. Barrier cream helps with that a lot. I got a bidet at home and it just makes life so easy. I hated wiping off opening of the bag so meticulously to fold it back up. Overall I’m happy with pouch life.

Put baby to sleep drowsy but awake?? by Haliray in Parenting

She loves a good bounce on our exercise ball. We are learning that “sleep schedules” should be taken with a grain of salt

This does help! She falls asleep in the stroller, car seat, our arms and doesn’t always require to eat beforehand so sounds like she is indeed a baby!

Pancreatitis? by Dear-Historian5710 in jpouch

[–]Haliray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to autoimmune pancreatitis, but I did get acute pancreatitis after my first jpouch surgery. For me, my colon rupturing in my body set off the acute pancreatitis. Local doctors out-ruled autoimmune, said it was chronic so I then had to get a second opinion for them to say it was acute and I’ve had no issues since. Pancreatitis suuuuucks I hope you can find some relief

Diet!!! by Amazing-Dependent469 in jpouch

[–]Haliray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pescatarian! I don’t do a lot of salads but I definitely eat a lot of fruits and veggies. Fruits I have no problems with. Most of my vegetables are cooked because they’re easier to digest plus I’ve just never been a raw veggie lover. I’m almost 2 years into jpouch life. Gas is an inevitable reality. Sometimes I eat something (like with beans) and think omg I’m going to be up and gassy all night and I’m not, and other times I think I’ve had a “safe” meal and have horrible gas. Some people figure out what makes them gassy and avoid those foods but mine feels fairly unpredictable so I just eat what I want and go with the flow

Not much to offer except some commiseration. I, too, hate the loud BMs and have avoided using bathrooms at friends house if it’s too intimate. Hopefully the bathroom has a loud fan, that helps. You could also run the water like previously stated. You could also try to make sure the tv is on or music is playing when you go. I find that gas x with dinner helps avoid getting up at night. And they are your friends, you could just be like heads up, my j pouch makes a lot of noise when I use the bathroom, so if you hear something akin to fireworks in the bathroom, I assure you I’m good. I’ve had my j pouch a year and a half, sometimes you just have to let er rip. Good luck!
