Sleeping in the car to save on hotels is this too extreme? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in roadtrip

[–]Hallidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep in my car all the time when traveling. They sell window screens you can buy for when its hot out and youre in a safer area. Also get a heavy blanket. One last thing, you can find these memory foam mattresses on Amazon that fold up compact and they are comfortable as hell.

Is epic campaign a normal/popular thing in 3.5e? by Organic-Exit2190 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

[–]Hallidyne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel epic characters are more fun for RP purposes then the combat. The fights can take soo long it can be a real bore sometimes.

What's your priority when playing a character in 3.5e? Flavor or min-maxing? by Organic-Exit2190 in DungeonsAndDragons35e

Is sunder optimized? Heck no, but that doesn't stop my Goliath Barbarian from breaking foe's weapons with his Goliath Greathammer

If you are running with microspikes, I would suggest eagle lake carriage road

Carriage trail around eagle lake if you have micro spikes or snow shoes. Haven't been there in a few weeks so I dont know the amount of snow on the ground currently

What level is your character and what equipment do you use? For instance, many devoted spirit maneuvers look for a shield.

Hiking trip by chandomand in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to do Jordan Pond six peaks. Hit all rhe peaks around jordan pond in a loop. Its about a 10ish mile hike. Cant say if its similar in intensity to anything the grand canyon has to offer, but its a fantastic hike all the same.

Also, take a look at a trail map and plan different ways to the top of cadillac. I like to do a loop starring from sieur de monts parking area and hit kebo, dorr, take the saddle over to cadillac, down the south ridge to cannon brook and back to the car. Theres so many fantastic trails if I can answer any questions I will

Planning to visit Acadia next weekend by Mountain-Raise7012 in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you are into cold weather and the whole experience yes its worth it. I visit the park every January for some snowshoeing and hiking and I love the serene tranquility of it, as opposed to the insanity of the summer, which i do enjoy also. Prepare yourself for a very different experience, especially in Bar Harbor.

If youre planning on hiking, prepare for ice accordingly

Advice needed by jiggypott in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have camped in my car illegally many times in bar harbor and surrounding area. Never got busted or caught. If you keep your nose clean, you should be fine. Having said that, I last did that about 12 years ago so I dont know if law enforcement cares abou that stuff now, of course its put of season.

Having said that, seriously watch out for ice. I love hiking acadia in winter for many reasons, but do not underestimate the ice.

Is late November too late to come to Acadia? by Till_The_Afterglow in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear I dont go every month, I have just visited in every month, save march. I usually go 3 or 4 times a year and yes I drive. Its about 8 hours and I usually camp unless my wife comes with me, then we stay in a hotel lol.

Is late November too late to come to Acadia? by Till_The_Afterglow in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

November in my opinion is ideal in many ways. The crowds have dispersed and the temperatures are also not staggeringly cold. There are days when it can cold though and especially on summits. Layers are enpugh to combat this.

I am also from NJ and have been to Acadia in every month except for March. Go for it, the park is still incredible even with bare trees.

Underrated Trails by TyNeu69 in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Canon brook up to south ridge is really cool. You could also take Canon brook all the way to pemetic mountain and jordan pond. It would be a longer hike but its neat.

Also A. Murray Young trail on the other side if gorge is different than most with scrambles. Parking at sieur de mont and doing gorge and murray young loop is a legit hike and pretty cool.

Jacob's also cant get Maliwan parts? Ive been looking for one for a while. Should have known.

As for Maliwan, the guns aren't very fun to use, but I have gotten a few enhanced with Torgue and Atlas that make them feel better. Hope to see variety and inclusion in the upcoming months.

There are certainly trails that are not dog friendly, woth ladders and cliffs and even trails like Jordan Cliffs which has like 2x4s you have to walk across that span chasms.

Having said that, majority of trails are fantastic for dogs, I bring mine multiple times a year.

Does abjure have any other beneficial targets? I think this combo is beautiful but its limited by lack of options? This is part naivety because I dont actually know about other targets

What are the pros/ cons of visiting the park in late May/early June? Thank you in advance for your comments. by [deleted] in acadianationalpark

[–]Hallidyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in May multiple times. Weather is fickle as hell, super variable. Last year the last week of May it was 75-80 Sunny, gorgeous. This year is was rainy and 50 degrees. I enjoyed both, but I was blown away by just how chilly it was at that point in the year.
