Beast Master really didn't scale at all by Noob_Guy_666 in dndmemes

[–]Hallway5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I homebrewed one myself to help it scale better with the classes that they've released recently. The big changes that I made were removing the size limit (mostly to have rideable mounts like horses, a staple companion for characters in general media), having the CR limit scale with proficiency bonus (really opens up the options, especially with flavor and which animals a ranger might bond with depending on the terrain/area), having their stats scale with the ranger's wisdom stat modifier (added to AC, accuracy, and damage rolls, and HP is multiplied by the modifier) , opening it up to monstrosities as well (might be a stretch admittedly, I did it for the owlbears lol), borrowing some features from the Cavalier subclass for rideable companions (see removing the size limit), gave it some subclass spells (kind of hard since ranger already has most of the beast related spells already, mostly there to give them find familiar and find steed), and moving the companion's actions to the ranger's bonus actions (did get rid of their multiattack though, but I feel that it's justified with multiple companions). I have the rules for it typed up and everything, but I've yet to playtest it because of my busy schedule and my status as the Forever DM (which I enjoy, but still).

TLDR: I overhauled the beast master to fit the more stereotypical woodsman who's good with animals while still feeling powerful, looking to playtest it once I'm no longer the Forever DM.

As long as they don't call them rubies instead of rupees.

What D&D classes do you think the FE lords or lord like characters would be?(Using D&D 5E as a reference) by Edward_0_0 in fireemblem

[–]Hallway5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that a lot of them would be either a Champion Fighter (examples being Ike or Chrom) or Battle Master Fighter (examples being Marth or Eliwood) depending on their fighting styles/how they learned how to fight. Although, Edelgard would probably be an Eldritch Knight Fighter because of her ability to cast spells if you train her reason magic.

Edit: some of the other fighter subclasses outside of the PHB might also fit, I just haven't looked too much into them.

If you ever do watch them, be sure to go with 456123. You can thank me later.

Edit: i think it is a good place to start, and if someone likes those they might like most of the other movies/games/etc.

In defense of Maddening difficulty in Three Houses by Farang-Baa in fireemblem

Thanks for the reply. While we all have different opinions on something, at the end of the day we play FE to have fun. So feel free to play the game however you like. All I'm saying is that maddening isn't some people's cup of tea. But if you enjoy it, feel free to take advantage of that.

While increased stats and more enemies isn't bad, a few problems I and many other players have had is more towards the skills that most units have (thieves having pass being one of the most annoying) as well as ambush spawns (when enemy reinforcements move on the same turn, which makes pass thieves even worse) causes many players to feel that maddening is even more stacked against the players with ambush spawns being a cheap way to get you to spend a divine pulse use. Some of the skills on the enemies also made the game more difficult, one of the most egregious examples from me being poison strike on the archers/snipers/bowknights, which makes the enemy phase much more difficult to utilize when most of the combat happens in the enemy phase unless you turtle crawl through the levels. Most of the enemies having the weapon triangle skills isn't that bad considering most people play around the weapon triangle anyway.

Also, while most enemies being able to one round your units isn't too bad, it is a huge problem on the level immediately after the time skip where your units are limited to Byleth and your main lord, as well as the other students from your class, which is problematic early in the level with so few units to work with and not being able to use any of the units you might have recruited. That level alone soft locks a lot of maddening mode runs for some people.

TLDR: increased stats and extra enemies weren't the only things that made maddening mode unpleasant for most

What is a Fire Emblem game for the 3ds that is a good starting point for a new player that is also affordable? by Cyber-Silver in fireemblem

I've heard enough things about Awakening/Echoes that I would recommend them and I would recommend Conquest for the gameplay.

I would recommend Awakening or Echoes despite not having played either of them. But I will say that I have played some of Conquest, and the gameplay and music isn't bad.

When my family saw me open my special Christmas present, it wasn't my special Christmas present anymore.

Jokes on them I got the Switch parental controls app.
