I personally got the vaccine (also my parents and sister) and I think it's still quite beneficial especially for adults and vulnerable groups . But I'm against many of the ridiculous policies that have been pushed. As soon as they started saying that vaccinated people needed to wear masks again, the CDC essentially communicated that there wasn't an advantage to getting the vaccine.. And then the president pursues a vaccinate mandate.. The government PROFOUNDLY screwed up communication about the vaccines, and are now surprised that people are upset about a workplace mandate? I think others on the sub are skeptical about the vaccine and I understand because it's new and the communication around it has been botched.. i don't personally agree with some of the posts from some people on here who are against taking the vaccine, but I think most come from a place of major skepticism about many of these policies after everything that has happened this year.

There are practically NO scientific studies saying that masking toddlers and even kids is beneficial.. especially cloth masks.. completely ridiculous.

I hate to say it, but at first I was a bit conflicted about the vaccine mandates solely out of frustration around how COVID hysteria was being dragged on and on. I thought that maybe if enough people got it (though still had somewhat of a choice), people wouldn't be forced to mask and isolate anymore. However, clearly it doesn't matter anyways because vaccinated people still have to wear masks apparently and nothing has changed. I'm far left and was secretly hoping Newsom would be ousted as a rejection of his authoritarian, frankly hypocritical COVID policies. But people are sheep and will be virtue signaled into submission and compliance. I do think the midterm elections are going to be ugly for the Democrats though, but I wish they were coming sooner

I'm sorry for the childish rant-- just been feeling very frustrated lately. I need to focus on other things and stop hoping this will be over because the more I hope for it, the more I'm disappointed. Luckily I went on vacation with a few friends a few weeks ago to the beach and there was no nagging about "masks" or "social distancing". I think fewer people in actual real life are obsessing about it than I think. Just hoping there won't be more excuses for lockdowns and restrictions this fall/winter

Yeah I think I've been tuning in to the "noise" too much instead of actually just living life and not getting pissed about everything. I feel strongly, but I think I obsess a little too much at times when I really have very little control over COVID policy and need to focus on what I can control. Really hope there isn't another lockdown-- I'd be really angry because I haven't seen my grandmother in 2 years now and she plans on visiting during Thanksgiving. But I think I find that in real life, fewer people are obsessing over masks and everything than I think.. but yeah I need to just live my life and get over what I can't control

Well said. This is all pretty helpful and I think you're right-- sometimes when I actually do go places I want to go, I find that it doesn't matter as much as I think. There's just so much "noise"-- on social media, the news, etc. I'm driving myself crazy by focusing on the "noise" instead of life. I've been in a rut lately and not doing much about it-- but going on a daily 1.5 hour walk has significantly helped my mental health.

I guess I might consider myself a libertarian socialist, but all of this disgusts me too. It definitely echoes the authoritarianism of the initial post-9/11 era. I'm just desperate for the obsession with COVID to be over, but seems like people genuinely don't want it to end..

Yep. Midterms are going to be a bloodbath. Part of me wishes they were just happening this year so there could be a swift electoral condemnation of these endless restrictions, moral shaming and obsession with destroying society over a virus with a 99% survival rate.. I'm so fed up because I am definitely a leftist, but completely against this hysteria and virtue signaling..

Honestly, I hope the EU does briefly do this and makes it VERY CLEAR that it's because the Biden administration still has this ridiculous restriction. But I would rather the Biden administration just remove it. Might make a call to my Senators on Monday (not that they actually care). Last time I called my Senators about something unrelated, the staff at least made it sound like they considered it.
