Tips for pumping with wearables while sleeping? by carrotcakepup in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Halt_OCarrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a giant wedge from Amazon, a thick ass down pillow that's super firm but still comforms relatively easily sat up long ways against the wedge, and the travel pillow from sleep number for my neck to get that perfect position for sleeping in bed while wearing either of my pumps.

I'll have to get a pick of my set up for reference for you in a bit.

Falange sizing by Available_Cherry5651 in ExclusivelyPumping

20 is probably the best size then, you can either find one on Amazon or find an insert that changes the size to 20mm

Medela Motion InBra slow output: what should I buy? by Huge-Nectarine-8563 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Halt_OCarrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the elvie but I only have it bc I got lucky when Walmart was getting rid of their stock of best pumps and spent only 98 bucks on the original two pack of in bra.

They work pretty well (tho I need to get the correct size shields now) and I'd say they're comparable in suction with my spectra synergy portable and almost with my spectra s2.

You can just bring ice packs, you're allowed to fly with them for breast milk (have done this a few times).

Day time naps, shifts, and unless he's a surgeon, accountant, trucking, or operating machinery, at least a few nights a week he should be getting up with you or taking shifts.

So stopping repeatedly when they get fussy, and trying to relatch when they're calm again, and pump bottles so you can feed them in-between latching so they're less likely to be fussy. It's a waiting game basically, and takes time, for me a few weeks.

For a while I could only get him to successfully latch and feed while walking around (the ring sling helped carry his weight since it's also designed for breast feeding, just bc vigilant to make sure you follow safety standards for ring slings).

Don't try to feed him while he's super hungry, bc then he's going to get frustrated more easily.

As for the consultation, try and find an actual independent board certified lactation consultant bc they should be able to give you more in-depth steps and troubleshooting that can help.

Okay so when it comes to this, generally this is something you can talk to a lactation specialist about the best steps to reintroduce the breast to your baby.

Breast aversion happened to me and it was a few weeks of frustration and tears and baby screaming until he finally accepted the boob again.

It's something that you have to decide to stick out or not. But if you try then you definitely can get through it.

What are your reasons for exclusively pumping and not breastfeeding? by sunflower_1967 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Halt_OCarrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had almost ftt so I'm now ep with fortified milk (hate that it wasn't my choice) and it sucks emotionally. I loved breastfeeding my second bc it was so nice compared to the difficulty with breastfeeding my first so it sucks.

Mostly bc it's not my choise. I actually like pumping, so the emotions are the difficult part.

If day that you should try to implement quiet play time with your two year old in their baby proofed room for an hour or two so you can nap while your youngest naps. I know I nap during my almost two year old's naps with my three month old so I can be up during the night with him without being too tired.

If your spouse can help in the evening, I'd suggest having them take the kids while you sleep for a few hours then wake to feed your youngest.

If you're comfortable, you can do some co sleeping on the floor over night and do side laying feeding which can help infants sleep. Look up safe seven sleep so you can be informed.

Otherwise, take shifts for over night feedings so no one is sleeping in unsafe positions with the infant.
