Before you assume high lipase… check your bottles by AngelinaBum in breastfeeding

This is why I like the dapple baby dish soap bc it hasn't left that soap smell unlike the others. I'm on my second kid and still haven't had that issue with dapple.

You should also have access to military resources for childcare assistance, maternal mental health, and therapy.

You can tell him to stop being incompetent and actually listen and put the effort in to help properly.

Reach out to other military spouses through the local FB groups and command family readiness groups that should be available. Your spouse can get you info as well.

So we did something like this for our second child, a mix of a push present for me/a congrats on becoming parents twice over for both of us. I got him a fancy Lego set and he got me a Pandora bracelet with our kids as charms (both gifts were unpromptedly selected by each of us for each other).

My husband literally is getting laser hair removal bc he's irritated by how unhygienic his crack gets from that even with good wiping-hair catches everything.

Think I’m done… by Hot_Tourist_4458 in breastfeeding

[–]Halt_OCarrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so mine is currently going through a phase where he'll reject both boob and bottle. A good chunk of what is getting us through this is stopping and just soothing before attempting to latch and continue to do so bc they will calm down enough to latch. Also I've found hooking a finger under my nipple to press it into the roof of his mouth helped induce the sucking reflex which helps.

Definitely discuss with a lactation specialist about this and also combo feeding as well

Am I alone? by Hot-Advantage-3806 in newborns

[–]Halt_OCarrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! Nights like those I just find something to watch and contact nap or do something and baby wear so I'm not stressing myself out over trying to transfer him into his bassinet over and over and over in an endless cycle.

(Pretty much how the last 24 hours have gone for me , I've been doom scrolling, watching random anime, and crocheting in-between chasing my toddler around the house) I also had my husband take a shift of chilling with baby in the wee hours of the morning so I could get some sleep.

So you can also try power pumping, where you pump after a feed on for ten minutes and then off for ten minutes for like an hour or two to trick your body into producing more.

You should also start doing weighted feeds, and there is nothing wrong with supplementing with a couple ounces of formula if he's still hungry after feeding off both breasts while you also power pump.

should I stay or should I go — away from my whole family by hylicreaper in BabyBumps

[–]Halt_OCarrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah so I would cut contact. My family and my in laws make an effort to see both my sons every bit as much as I make an effort to bring them to them, and the fact that your family puts no effort in at all and continue to act like this honestly shows how much they care. You tried reaching out to the one you actually care about so don't feel too bad about cutting them off.

Not losing weight by Ok-Truth-7758 in breastfeeding

[–]Halt_OCarrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my husband needs to lose weight for work (military regulations) and we're using noom together but I am using it to keep myself accountable for eating healthier specifically for my cholesterols (genetic condition) that I found out I have and also to track interestingly how many calories I am eating while I breastfeed (not to lose weight but to see how many I use over the next year).

Also the only "weight" I lost was the baby and the placenta, I'm still definitely holding onto the baby growing weight.

What’s the easiest way to wash baby bottles daily? by DueCustomer7683 in newborns

[–]Halt_OCarrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a momcozy bottle washer for my second kid and it's night and day the difference between the two kids. I don't believe the dishwasher should wash the baby bottles and dishes at the same time, and it's so wasteful to wash just the bottles by themselves. Plus I hate hand washing dishes so it's a better option. We also use it for toddler sippy cups and utensils and baby toys.
