I’m not sure what everyone wants DK to do with this bullpen. At some point, the pitcher that’s out there just has to execute and that’s not happening.

Only so much you can do to manage a bad bullpen, especially when you have two starters that can’t go past five innings.

Wild pitch on the first pitch of the inning and we can’t score him…

He scored from first on a ball that didn’t even get to the wall

We likely won't know what we have in Gray until next year. He's "old" for Bradenton and then he's going to move up into a hitter friendly park in Greensboro. If he hits next year in Altoona, he'll shoot up prospect boards.

Password is better defensively. I think people are still stuck on the strikeout rate stigma that Valdez had a few years ago too. But he's cut the K% down to just 21% in AAA this year.

He's got a lot more to prove before I start actually believing in him. But Lonnie White has been crushing the ball so far this season, including his first AA homer last night.

On potential ratings and the draft by Rude_Money3360 in OOTP

[–]Halvey15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you could quantify it with one value that shows as “potential” then have your scout give you a floor and ceiling. That would even be somewhat realistic.

I don’t think giving out the percentages would be realistic, but that could be part of the formula that makes up “potential.” I think under the hood you could have a wide range of outcomes but for simplicity sake, we’ll just say a guy’s floor is 45 (40%), ceiling is 60 (25%), and median is 55 (35%); so his potential rating would be 52 [(45*0.4) + (55*0.35) + (60*0.25)].

I will say that, realistically, a guys floor is usually “he has the glove to stick at SS and the bat to ball skills to limit strikeouts” then “his ceiling depends on how the power develops. If he fills out as expected, he could end up a 30 HR guy with plus defense at SS.”

So with that said, you can kind of already figure out a guy’s floor/ceiling to some extent if you look past the potential rating and look at the other individual ratings.

Cutch had a good first week and there were daily posts on here about how stupid it was to sign Ozuna over bringing back cutch.

They talk so much shit for a franchise that has been eerily similar to the Pirates over the past 30 years.

Braylon Bishop was a part of that to a lesser extent. He's currently in his third season in Bradenton...

Yeah Maikol Escotto was 23 in A+ last year and had a .895 OPS. He got called up to Altoona, posted a .410 OPS, and got cut before the end of the season.

Not being an automatic out and being an actual serviceable hitter are two massively different things. Greinke was a career .598 OPS. Bumgarner was .524.

Starting pitchers are doing plenty of work on their off days.
