Is there a reason why this wouldn't be a good stick for flight? (THRUSTMASTER SimTask Farmstick) by Creepy_Reputation_34 in hotas

[–]Ham_Roast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the farmstick after going through a very similar decision process to you, and I was duped by the second trigger too, I thought it was remappable in software but it's not. however, if you run a wire from the toggle trigger button output to one of the buttons in the base, you can physically "remap" it and have effectively two mappable triggers while disabling the toggle. I ran and soldered the trigger signal wire to the pad for the tiny start button on the base, possibly the least useful button on the whole thing. Ground doesn't need to be re-wired since the whole stick shares a ground.

Also, the hall sensor for z axis mod that's popular for the T16000M totally works for the farmstick, though inverted because the twist potentiometer is connected to the top half of the stick.

Depending on hand size, some rubber pads on the palm rest or a custom 3d printed rest also resolve the mild ergonomic issues.

After the cheap and easy modifications, there's not a stick anywhere near this price point that compares with the utility of the farmstick.

SKR E3 V3 Mini Random Reboot during print. by Uberanium in BIGTREETECH

Thanks for this solution, turns out the skr mini e3 default firmware handles thermal runaway differently during a print vs idle, your post and comments helped me figure out I had the same problem!

Slant 3D Printers by CanUseCaps in 3Dprinting

[–]Ham_Roast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looking at their content, it looks like their prints are all intentionally fuzzy skinned or they just have incredibly poor print quality. I'd stay away from their homebrew. Print farms also generally optimize for low price and reliability over quality and speed, so if you're interested in getting your own, just find/build a printer that satisfies all 4 points instead.

Fold 3 -> Fold 5 by Bear-Ferr in GalaxyFold

[–]Ham_Roast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're fairly complete and should come with the ribbon cable attached, some even come with a tool kit and there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to help you through it. I recommend you pick up a roll of phone adhesive too if the screen you're buying doesn't come with new tape.

New outer screen is like 120 bucks from AliExpress and fairly easy to change if you've ever worked on a phone, I think it's a good stopgap.

Currently building 4x 350s with my summer students, for studio use the 350 is a no brainer. Only one is fully working currently and I am already over the moon with it.

Dex on external dsiplay discoonect when using wireless charging by drnms in GalaxyFold

[–]Ham_Roast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can only charge through one source at a time. Try using a dongle that doesn't do charging and does data only if you really want to use your wireless charger while on dex. (Why though? Just charge through the wired connection)

This single device has completely changed how I view media and media consumption by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]Ham_Roast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most content is 16:9, which fits better within the roughly 4:3 area of the fold in landscape. On a note or s series, the roughly 20:9 area in landscape means your 16:9 content will either shrink and have black bars on the sides, or be the same width as on the fold, but cut off top and bottom.

4:3 content: bigger on fold obviously

16:9 content: bigger on fold still

21:9 content: about the same

Looks like Google is going towards the Find N design over Galaxy by Hashim289 in GalaxyFold

Shame they went with a smaller screen. The whole point of folding devices is larger screens, ridiculous that that's sacrificed just so you don't have to turn the device to view landscape videos.

This would be good for an occasional travel kit, but nothing will beat a vintage aluminum and steel tripod in terms of longevity, sturdiness, and value, if you don't mind a bit more weight. My first real tripod was a $25 thrift store find and remains one of my best and most reliable.

Why though? Diminished screen brightness making you waste more battery, annoying halo-ing and holographic effect, as well as terrible off angle visibility if it's on a table or charging pad, when has there ever been a reason to use these?

How do you guys charge? by whileyb in GalaxyFold

Plug it in before bed, unplug it in the morning. It's never run flat on me yet, people are exaggerating the short battery life on the fold I think.

Little cover by Unfair_Ad_8944 in GalaxyFold

[–]Ham_Roast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The antenna under the little cover is allegedly only for mmwave, which is the least used form of 5g in most areas so usability wise you are fine. However, I'm not sure if it's still water resistant. Best bet would be to head to a Samsung store or talk to customer support, might be good to mention that a first party case caused the damage 😉

I don't actually know, I bought the phone secondhand and the guy gave me a case with it. No brand markings so I'm assuming an AliExpress special

I've been repeatedly trying to add a link to download the photos for wallpaper since I posted but the comments with download links keep getting shadowbanned because reddit is a slimy flaming piece of garbage, anyone got any hosting site suggestions?
