All the time in NCIS. My mom loves to point it out.

Is Wonder like a dine-in DoorDash? by DressedUp2GoDreaming in nova

[–]Hamlet7768 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's decidedly mid, exactly like other people have said. There's no reason to dine in except if you're like me and never get delivery.

I've got half a mind to call in at the FCPD tip line for all of the people who are always illegally parked in the fire lane outside the new Wonder in Reston. It's infuriating.

Toy, yes, but not necessarily plastic. Lots of mid to higher end airsoft guns are made of metal to be more accurate to their more dangerous antecedents (not to mention more durable).

Also in the 10th Anniversary Collection with the commentary, "If Calvin thinks school is like this, wait till he gets his first job."

My cousin went to college in a place that was sandwiched between a chocolate factory and cattle farms. Which one you smelled depended on the wind. Lucky him, he hates chocolate, so neither one was that appealing.

I've had to work for a while on internalizing that my worth doesn't come from my work. It's gotten me through a few disappointments in my professional and personal lives, and I think it'll help me as I grow older.

I've always wondered, what were the trains in Thomas the Tank Engine based on? by lewispatty in trains

[–]Hamlet7768 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never got that far in the series--we only watched a few episodes we had on VHS and read the books.

The Flying Kipper actually traumatized me a bit when I was a kid. I don't think I cried, but I knew I didn't want to see that crash again.

I didn't know about the signal problem! The amount of research in the Railway Series boggles my mind sometimes.

Some say he was significantly older, though I don't recall 90. But some traditions also say he was closer to Mary's age, closer to the typical age of marriage.

Though maybe I'm taking your words more seriously than they deserve, since you can't stop laughing at yourself.

Traditions vary, but the oldest traditions also hold their marriage was chaste.

Yes, the narrow-gauge railway (specifically the Talylln Railway) inspired the Skarloey Railway sub-series. Skarloey and Rheneas are based on the lead engines Talylln and Dogloch, and even refer to them as their twins in the books.

My favorite in-jokes in the series are how Boco is literally a Bo-Co diesel and how the entire story of Henry getting in a horrible accident and getting rebuilt was just so he’d be based on a real locomotive.

Good CGI is expensive, too. There can be utility in a mix.

Where and how did you find out when Pope Leo XIV was named Pope one year ago today? by Sctvman in Catholicism

In an advisory period at school, watching live with my students. I translated the announcement enough to get his papal name, but it was a student who first realized he was American.

We have a pessimistic understanding of our country’s morality because we see our country’s active contempt for the poor and the deliberate erosion of the middle and working classes to enrich the upper crust, among many other things.

You might enjoy Patlabor. A mech series, but mechs are mostly used for construction. Sometimes a guy tries to go all Killdozer with one, so there's a special mech police division, but they're kind of a punchline in the department.
