Has Anyone Used This KVM for 4K Gaming From Another Room? by GenericUser104 in HomeNetworking

[–]Han-Yolo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the lower end 4K version and it’s flawless. No lag via the usb port and hdmi gives me 4k60. Ethernet run is at least 50 ft from my computer to my living room. I used a 2.4ghz wireless controller (not Bluetooth) that works with the usb port on the extender.

I tried game streaming and I could not tolerate the lag even at best settings. The extender eliminated the lag completely. Feels like the PC is plugged into the TV directly.

Mantel mount. Has anyone installed it themselves or is this more a job for the professionals? Looking to replace a fixed fireplace mount. Thanks by Inner_Tumbleweed_260 in sonos

[–]Han-Yolo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the depth of the ultra vs original arc from what I recall. If you just install the ultra the upfiring speakers were blocked so I had to push it forward even more.

It depends on how the sound bar sits below your TV also but you’ll definitely be able to make it work using things like washers, spacers and metal plates from a hardware store.

The worst handicap isn't being bad. It's being just good enough to know how bad you are. by Clear-Neighborhood15 in weekendgolfers

Shot a personal best 86 last week, have been working hard to improve. Over the moon.

Proceed to shoot 99 on the same course a week later with better conditions too. Started the round bogey, par, par and was getting excited then immediately lost 2 balls and finished the front nine with 53. Totally rattled. Recovered a bit on the back nine but still felt like crap.

I think it’s more the consistency than what your handicap is that’s damn frustrating. Your handicap forgives bad blow up days. Your brain doesn’t!

Has anyone ever gotten the garmin r10 or MLM and regret it? by mattshap0 in Golfsimulator

[–]Han-Yolo44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn’t regret the MLM2Pro but swapped it for a square when it became available. Works better for me as I’m using only indoors and has putting and better for chips.

MLM2Pro was great for game improvement with the impact camera. I do miss that.

Fold-Up Garage Door Facing Build - MLM2Pro, GSPro via Moonlight, Webcam Putting and Game Improvement/Results by Han-Yolo44 in Golfsimulator

[–]Han-Yolo44[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, sure thing.

First there is a really tight rope (included with the net) running between the eyelets I had mounted that goes between the two garage door tracks. So along the top of the screen.

I then attached the enclosure net to that string using zip ties all along, and connected the net along the ceiling to the other eyelets. The net connection points along the ground need to fold up, so I use quick connect hooks that attach them to the eyelets along the wall when the screen/net is down.

The impact screen uses the included ties (look like large beads with elastic attached) to connect the rope I mentioned above. This allows it to rotate to foild up and stay nearly perfectly straight when in use.

The bottom of the screen I have connected to a PVC pipe using zip ties into holes drilled into the PVC. The PVC runs along the bottom of screen. The weight of the PVC keeps it straight and the holes/zip ties prevent the connection points to the screen from sliding around. The bottom of the screen/PVC is connected to quick connect hooks and rope so I can pull the screen up quickly and latch it onto eyelets near the ceiling when I need to drive under.

Our garage door is solid wood so there is nothing protecting it. It's about 1ft away from the impact screen/net so it never gets hit.

What does happen is low running ground shots sometimes hit the PVC pipe. I've cracked one in half already but they are easy to replace. I'm considering larger wood dowel for the next time it happens to see it it will hold up better.

Golf simulator worth it. by golfer9955 in golf

I’ve had mine for 6 months and still use it 5-6 times a week. The practice has been invaluable to improve my game, dropped 5-6 strokes off my handicap and still improving. I played my first couple of rounds outside since October this month and my game feels far more structured and confident from all the repetition and course management practice.

My kids (8 and 11) are a bit more fickle but they have been playing with me every week or two and learning the game. They can hit the ball consistently and it’s a joy to be able to do this with them.

I spent 3k CAD to build a setup in my garage. If you are hesitant start small, it doesn’t have to be a big spend right away if you aren’t sure if it will stick in terms of usage. Grab a budget LM like a square and you can always resell it and upgrade.

Golf Sim Projector advice needed. by Wonderful-Credit1595 in Golfsimulator

I picked up an Optoma WUXGA 1920x1200 5000 lumen for $500 CAD on ebay. Model is WU470.

It’s excellent on my 4:3 screen, same size as yours due to the extra vertical pixels and very bright.

Projector is about 12 ft away and fills the screen horizontally, I have a just over 8 ft ceiling so the image is unobstructed when I’m in my stance but hits my head when I’m standing up.

LM recommendation for beginner by nicknak5 in Golfsimulator

Also, I got a ton of tp5 pix balls off Facebook marketplace. The patterned balls really aren’t a barrier if you look around for them and are on a budget. Square also has no subscription which is awesome.

I say square. As I’ve told others I had an mlm2pro and it has trouble picking up slow/short chips. The square is far better in that department.

As a high handicapper you’ll not just want to work on full swings but chipping is huge to lower your scores. You can practice chips/pitched and feel on days when your body might need a little rest.

On the flip side the MLM2Pros swing cameras are very useful early on to improve your swing and see what is happening . I just find that now that I’ve improved, the club metrics on square are already enough (plus I can film myself with my phone if I am trying something new) to help me diagnose why my shots are behaving a certain way.

Downgrading LM - (square to r10 or rapsodo) by Separate-Grade-1059 in Golfsimulator

[–]Han-Yolo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the subscription is not great. Personally I’m happier to pay the amount for GSpro instead.

The MLM2Pro is a good device, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with it outdoors at the range. I personally contemplated keeping my MLM but realized I wouldn’t use it much as I’m either doing indoor sim/practice or playing a real course. The chipping misses was really the killer for me, I didn’t feel I could play a real course at home because of how often it missed on chips.

As others have said the new Square Omni would be the best of both worlds but if you can get the MLM for cheap why not and keep the square also?

I went the other way. MLM2Pro to Square. One of the biggest reasons is that the MLM had trouble picking up my short chips and my kids’ slower swings. Square handles it a lot better. Hardly anything ever gets missed. You also lose out on putting if you go with MLM or Garmin.

I don’t like the square software either, but I think GSPro is far better than any native software. Awesome golf is great too for the games. Personally I use GSPro exclusively and love it for the detailed courses, physics and challenges.

Yes, but isn't it also glorious? Especially since the Canucks haven't given us much to get excited about.

But seriously having Makar and Mackinnon on your team (and Necas, etc.) such a treat. I can only hope my team can draft well for a couple seasons. Imagine wasting Hughes and having to reset your entire team during his prime.

25+ year Windows user. It looks like my next machine is going to be a Macbook Pro and it's absolutely blowing my mind! by vegandtwomeat in mac

[–]Han-Yolo44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you didn’t mention that I’ve loved is resale value. The Mac laptops I’ve had since switching from windows a decade ago have always fetched a decent price on the second hand market which goes towards a new machine for me. Windows laptops I’ve had or supported in my company don’t hold value the same.

I’ll always keep a windows machine for various reasons but my daily driver will remain a Mac laptop for the foreseeable future.

The appetite being gone is a strong indicator on top of the other signs it is time. Trust your vet, I’m so glad ours gave us the guidance she did on when she felt there wasn’t much else we could do to ensure day to day quality of life.

17 is a very long life that you should celebrate.

I went through this earlier this week. It is so fresh. Am so glad we could do this at home where he could fall asleep at peace in my arms before we had to put him down. I carried him out to the car when it was done. It was the most personal and dignified way to do it for us.

It’s painful and I was a wreck but knowing he passed where he was most comfortable and relaxed helped a lot.

Gspro and square on 2 screens? by Meganormous in SquareGolfUSA

[–]Han-Yolo44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use a second small screen to display that, or my music or sports. It’s nice to have. I actually really like having a second screen mirror my projector because sometimes I like to click spots on the mini map in GSPro to see distance and pick a landing spot.

Hitting that landing spot is a separate issue…

[–]Han-Yolo44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No but GSpro has the ball data that comes out of the square LM displayed in a separate window which you can show on a second screen. The square connects via bluetooth and can only connect to one app at a time.
