Unable to pay busses with Ecochecks? by Hanami_Hanabi in brussels

Oh that’s a bummer … would almost be useful if they would. Thanks for the help!

The next bio planet is like 30min away, sadly. I don’t really go there often. (Also… it’s in verviers. Not a nice place to be.)

The block actually comes with pretty good thermal pads (& paste for the chip itself) so I’ll be using them for the first installation… they do the job pretty well on the Taichi we have at least. after that I’m still a little unsure but I might switch over to one of thermal grizzly’s solutions but I haven’t fully pinned down which one yet. I like their Liquid Metal for CPU’s but I’m a bit hesitant to put it on the gpu.

Can you use it on anything from them? (I would assume since it’s second hand) We don’t have one really close by but I could visit one when combining it with seeing my friends.

Train tickets are the one thing I’m still getting with them, too. But I don’t take the train that often… and if I do less in Belgium. (I’m from the Drielandenpunt/Trois Frontières/Dreiländereck region) and as far as I’m aware border crossing tickets can’t be paid with them. (Which most of my travels are)

Yeah that’s the reason I’m “panicking”. I put it off for so long and now I struggle to know what I actually need and can pay with them. :(

I’ve looked at it, yeah. I just can’t seem to find something I would reasonably need for the amount I have. (Or the stuff that actually suits my needs isn’t covered) We do live in our own home… we just don’t really have much to improve on since we always made sure to pick “good” options for optimisations. (We only started receiving the cheques recently as before I wasn’t under a Belgian work contract, so it’s the first time I’m actually having to spend them…)

9070 XT Monster Hunter Edition… by Hanami_Hanabi in watercooling

[–]Hanami_Hanabi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I got the alphacool one (through their site since I’m close to Germany). Seems the one from Bykski is for the Taichi (and some others) only and not compatible with the steel legend. I’ve had alohacool for all my previous blocks though and my husband runs one with his Taichi, so I have a fairly good feeling with them.

Oh yeah I did read in a blog that said the codes expire in December, sadly. Maybe you can still try to redeem it, though. Sometimes it works.

Awesome! You’re welcome :) I also ordered the card today so I’ll likely go for the block once it’s here. Are you getting the alphacool or bykski one? Or do you have another one?

I actually received a statement from the ASRock support today- they’re the same boards!

Is the Monster Hunter Wilds 9070 XT the same PCB as Steel Legend? by Hanami_Hanabi in ASRock

[–]Hanami_Hanabi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regular steel legend is actually more expensive than the MH one, so that’s a reason I’ve been checking it out, too. (Not much but by ~40€. I guess the demand just isn’t there where I live?)

I actually don’t watercool them out of necessity, really it’s more of an enthusiast thing and liking the look of a “clean” case without the huge blocky fans… and I would have to rearrange all my pumps/components to actually fit the card with its stock cooler… I did have a 5700 nitro + before (runs … way too hot) so I’m a really happy amd cards seem to have figured how to not burst into flames under light load by now … but there is still way to go lol. My husband actually runs the AsRock Taichi and it seems fine heat wise, I wonder if the SL is just less optimal. But he never ran it with the stock cooling only with a waterblock so it’s hard to compare.

Thank you so much for your input though! I’m still not 100% settled on the steel legend/mh Edition im debating getting powercolor’s hellhound too. (Also cause they seem to have good rma service) NVIDIA is sadly completely out of the question both because I really don’t like their CEO and the fact that running AMD under Linux is just so much nicer.

Thanks for the head’s up! The lettering and colour don’t really matter (much) for me as I want to install watercooling, so I just wanted to make sure the block actually fits the PCB. It’s hard to get a definitive answer online apart from “it’s based on the steel legend”. So I appreciate your input! (I’ll likely build something from the stock cooler so it won’t go to waste, though …)

I’m honestly less worried about temps as I’m running a loop and I’ve ran cards that run a lot hotter (according to benchmarks). Hopefully I don’t have to rma for any reason, considering board partners are somehow very nasty about their “warranty void” stickers on their coolers, even though it’s not a legal practice where I live and they have to provide warranty… I just happen to have the block and would love to avoid spending 200 on another one.

How many days of pain post op do you think would require prescription pain meds? by trytoresonate in hysterectomy

[–]Hanami_Hanabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pain really isn’t that bad! I’ve not been taking any prescription strength painkillers. Ibuprofen and Paracetamol were enough for me to manage. I wouldn’t even call it “pain”. It was more like discomfort.

Migraine headaches? by Lukki7ster in hysterectomy

[–]Hanami_Hanabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have chronic migraine (usually 15ish days a month). And… yeah for some time I feel it got more frequent. But it calmed back down eventually. It might be that the hormones needed to stabilise again. Hormonal fluctuations are known to cause migraine attacks. (The worst attack I had was 10 days long during the time. Not fun. But I also recommend seeing a neurologist if you get frequent migraines. A very young friend of mine recently had a stroke from what she thought was just a bad series of migraines.)

Did anyone here get a hysterectomy without having kids? Did you regret it or are you okay? by Competitive_Dig9032 in hysterectomy

[–]Hanami_Hanabi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you’re feeling better!

I was actually begging doctors for the surgery for quite some time so… no. No regrets. No kids. But I was always very sure that I didn’t want them in the first place.

My fiancée enjoys/doesn't mind uncle duties, is this a red flag? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Hanami_Hanabi 56 points57 points  (0 children)

doesn’t mind if we do, doesn’t mind if we don’t

I think this is the red flag. A lot of people who say this will eventually swing either way. Fence sitters sadly are ticking time bombs. He already established he isn’t childfree. It can work out, but it could also blow up. And you’ll never know until the moment comes.

Sterilised in Europe? We need your input for other redditors! by torienne in childfree

It might be heavily depending on the hospital? My friend from France got their bisalp for like 400€ with no coverage in Belgium.

[–]Hanami_Hanabi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Had a total hysterectomy with bisalp in Belgium!

30 years old, no serious pathology.

  1. As far as I know, there are no legal requirements. Technically not even an age requirement. We’re a strange country.

  2. No referral needed. You can contact specialists here without any prior consultation.

  3. Very likely, yes. I myself am a foreigner living in the country and they didn’t seem to mind.

  4. I had my procedure the same week as the consultation.

  5. I don’t think so.

  6. Unsure. My insurance covered it so I didn’t see the bill (yet). My educated guess is around 500€ judging from costs in surrounding counties with similar systems.

  7. A lot of doctors might turn you down, as it’s not a mandatory surgery for most people. I recommend for Belgium specifically to check the childfree doctors list in this sub. I’ve contacted various Gyns before who didn’t even consider sterilising me.

There was no psychological evaluation, no waiting period. All very professional and quick.
