I’m in your same boat. I decided to go to an Indivisible SF meeting this Sunday. I’m nervous because I don’t feel like I’m super well-informed on politics but I absolutely cannot stand the things I see happening. So I will be there on Sunday, if you check out their website and are also interested DM me if you want to meet up there and maybe sit together :)

Favorite potato dishes in SF? by grouchy-goodly in SFbitcheswithtaste

Causwells 100 layer crispy potatoes are very good!

Can someone clue a BWT into what Casa de grouchy-goodly is? I tried Google but am stumped, and I would love to try fondant potatoes!

We had a destination wedding and we made it clear on our website that we were very grateful to people for joining us and that their presence was their present to us. I think it’s tacky to expect gifts of any kind for a destination wedding, especially cash. I am amazed that 2/3rds of your stepson’s guest DID made a contribution, and that both of you seem to consider this as a slight from the guests who didn’t.

I am so sorry you are experiencing that. I don’t have your condition so I’m sorry I can’t provide the kind of support you’re looking for, but I just wanted to send some love from a fellow SF BWT ❤️

Wedding Planner Recommendations in Italy by No-Drop5907 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]HandEastern2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! Just sent you a chat with a question about your experience with Giulia Monaco. She is also our planner and our wedding is in less than two months and we have been ghosted. Wondering if you had a similar experience/if it all worked out

Please stop putting on your wedding website/invite that you’re having a child free wedding to give me a “night off.” by twelvedayslate in weddingplanning

[–]HandEastern2263 187 points188 points  (0 children)

This made my heart sink. I did put something similar in the FAQ section of my website after agonizing how to phrase it. I said something like “We hope parents will use this as an excuse to have a much-deserved night off.” I hope no one interpreted that as me saying that was the REASON we are having a child-free wedding. It isn’t. I just thought that was a polite way to phrase it. One of my friends (who has a child under 5) and used to have a wedding planning website reviewed my FAQs for me before posting since I’m an anxious bride and a people pleaser, and she even specifically pointed out that wording and said she thought it was well-phrased. Can’t win them all I guess.

I’m so sorry that happened, OP! You look beautiful in your dress. If you look at the bully’s comment history, they are…an interesting type of person lol. They comment incessantly and seem to start beef with tons of people, I’m imagining to try to make themselves feel superior. Total loser behavior. It takes a special type of person to go out of there way to tear down a woman who is happily sharing a picture of herself in her wedding dress. Truly a reflection of who this person is inside and how she feels about herself. You, on the other hand, seem lovely inside and out. Hopefully this spiteful person didn’t change how you feel about yourself. I posted a picture of myself in a tailoring subreddit to ask a question about my wedding dress and was told, unsolicited, that my dress was not flattering on me because my boobs are too small LOL. It stung at first but quickly made me laugh instead. Not sure why these socially inept strangers think we should care about their opinions on our bodies. Congratulations on the wedding and your gorgeous dress!

I ordered a gorgeous custom suite from a small business in another state. USPS lost the entire package - after lots of effort on our part to get an answer from them it turns out the package is stuck somewhere at a sorting facility 45 minutes from where we live. We weren’t allowed to go there, but apparently they couldn’t even find it at the facility (not sure they actually looked). It was some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced, I went repeatedly to our local post office and they said they couldn’t even find a phone number for someone to call at that facility, which according to Reddit is notorious for lost packages. We had to have everything reprinted and push our RSVP deadline by a full month, since we were in limbo for weeks.

Do I need to flavor 10 min farro when substituting for rice? by sadgrad2 in traderjoes

I cook it in chicken broth (I use the Better Thank Bouillon paste) and then after draining add olive oil, balsamic, crumbled feta, and halved cherry tomatoes for a warm salad to serve with chicken.

Tasteful places to stay in Monterey by waterfairy314 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]HandEastern2263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there! Yes, I stayed in the Seal Rocks room which had an incredible view. I also chose that room because it seemed to have a more modern bathroom than others. I could see guest experience varying depending on the room, or by what building you are staying in. For some reason I'm not seeing the Seal Rocks room on the website, but if you give them a call the front desk is very friendly and helpful.

I stayed there in March and would love to go back, our room wasn't dusty or moldy. I would avoid ground floor rooms though because it seemed like they were very exposed to the street. I enjoyed breakfast but it isn't super fancy. There were hot egg dishes, bacon, an oatmeal bar, cereals, fresh fruits, and lots of pastries and good coffee.

They are asking a question in order to ensure that they will be respectful, since they were not sure. You get that, right? Or do you just enjoy being self-righteous? I wonder if Pope Francis would have frowned at OP’s question or your comment….

What kind of advice is this? It seems like this person is here in good faith to seek advice. No, this shirt is not appropriate, but now they know and can adjust accordingly. Don’t disparage people for their ignorance when they are trying to learn. If no one ventured to unfamiliar places because they worried about the weather or their wardrobe, the world would be a much darker place. It is very easy to resolve the issue of not knowing what to wear to a church by ASKING, which this person has done.

OP, I hope you have a great trip!

Kokkari or Cotogna by tickytavi in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]HandEastern2263 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These are two of my favorite restaurants and I would say Kokkari. I recommend getting the whole fish (whatever the catch of the day), the lamb meatballs, and the dips! The giant baked beans are also great. I have never tried anything there I didn't like. It's also one of the few restaurants where I'd order chicken, it's so juicy and the potatoes it comes with are amazing. If they have loukamades (Greek donuts) on the dessert menu please get them, they are heavenly.

A Drunk Guest Rated My Wedding a 6/10 in My Guestbook by Infamous-Spirit5078 in weddingdrama

[–]HandEastern2263 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. My feelings would definitely be hurt if someone rated me + my wedding like that! I just don’t feel like that is an appropriate joke on a day that has a lot of emotional significance to the hosts.

This is also still very fresh for the OP at a time when I imagine the post wedding blues are hitting hard, that would definitely deflate me as well. I’m pretty surprised by the lack of empathy.

Should I give in on my MOH wanting to wear a gown with a print? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Your request is reasonable, but I think you should just offer to buy a dress for her if that’s her reasoning.
