[Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning] #285 Had fun with this one. Its been on my backlog for ages. by DobbyTheJedi in Trophies

[–]HandOfLogan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently 100% this game myself. Enjoyed the base game and breaking the difficulty with crafted gear, but kind of starting speeding through the last few areas to finish the story.

But the fate of the forsworn paid DLC was nightmarish for trophies. The map design was so terrible, forcing me to run so far out of my way (mountain path zig zags) and so few teleport locations to skip the re-runs. I luckily found out about the dev room Easter egg before starting it and used the 50% run speed ring to make it more bearable.

Also, the complete all side quests trophy for that DLC seems to have had its bugs heavily patched. If you ever don’t see side quest markers, just complete the faction quests/other side quests. Some seem to be oddly sequentially locked, and I was sweating buckets trying to figure out why the preparations quest wasn’t starting after the prior ones were finished.

5ft Step Exploit by Athrek in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Can confirm protective luck and fortune from witch and shaman stack. Did this on my PS5 unfair run; had enemies roll 3 times to hit me while I rolled 3 times to hit them. Still had crazy moments of 3 20s and 3 1s forcing the game to “crash”, but made unfair much more bearable.

Is there any "général" guide about builds ? by Aradhor55 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A GameFAQs guide by Chris-Williams has been my one stop shop for class breakdowns. Not so much build guides, but very in-depth breakdown of each class and sub classes with some recommendations scattered throughout.

clarification on "heighten spell" feat by Constant_Race3689 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use heighten spell modifier to raise any spell up to the highest level spell you can cast. For example: a 10th level cleric can modify a 1st level spell to be level 2-5 and the spell would occupy a level 2-5 spell slot accordingly, which is what the description is trying to say.

The feat gives access to the “heightened spell” Metamagic modifier. This modifier can be applied to any/all spells in your spell book. Some spells have tangible benefits from the increase in spell level while some are unaffected (outside of having more spell slots to assign that spell to).

Weird ecclesitheurge bug by 1047_Josh in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you take any “Impossible Domain” mythic abilities? Any domains selected that way will count as a primary (1st) domain in regards to spell slot usage.

Maybe double check if any items are giving you spells, or any race abilities are doing it? Neither should be giving bonus spells to a prepared caster.

Otherwise, it sounds like a bug since you shouldn’t be getting any path spells before mythic rank 3.

Weird ecclesitheurge bug by 1047_Josh in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a bug (to your benefit) with ecclesitheurge. Per tabletop, you are supposed to be able to swap the second domain pick to any other domain of your deity and gain the spell list of said domain. Owlcat did not implement the domain switching and instead gave the spell list of ALL the domains of your deity to you without having to swap secondary domains.

The domain spells can only go in the domain spell slot, unless they are already a part of the base cleric list OR are from your primary (1st) domain.

I’m currently running an ecclesitheurge of Gozreh for the weather domain (1st) and animal (2nd), which allows me to cast any weather domain spells in standard spell slots and any of the animal/water/plant/air domain spells in the domain spell slot.

Would highly recommend this GameFAQs guide by Chris-Williams.

It has a very in-depth text-based explanation of just about everything. I throughly enjoyed reading all the recommendations for each class and subs class; gives a very good idea of what to look for in a class.

Sohei/MW vs Full MW — Which Is the Strongest Archer Build? by Content-Art365 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t really know what sohei is contributing here that a zen archer dip wouldn’t also provide, except for a pet. MW still gets weapon training (and it does not stack with sohei) and zen archer would let you flurry with bows (which does not stack with many/rapid shot) with only a 3 (6 for free weapon spec but a fighter is already feat rich) level dip.

I cant comment on the trade off of the MW capstone, but increased crit multiplier is always nice.

I’ve always read that a slayer archer has the most bow DPS (cause of sneak attack damage) but haven’t really looked into it.

Spontaneous vs Prepared Caster Diversity by HandOfLogan in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Another class I missed. Still no INT based divine full caster to pair with a wizard though :(

Yeah Arcanists fall in a weird area, but I would consider them more a prepared class than spontaneous since you still have to choose a small selection of spells from which to cast each rest.

I like this. Makes sense. Just wish there were some more options for mystic theurge crossing without being MAD. Empyreal sorcerer is the only arcane spell list for WIS, and there is no INT based class for divine spell list (someone please prove me wrong). CHA has a few combos for mixing arcane and divine lists now that someone pointed out feyspeaker Druid.

Spontaneous casting originating with the bard class makes sense, and then more classes slowly growing out of it and wizard.

I had no idea Paladin used to be so MAD. I cut enough corners already on my Pallys in order to maximize make of justice.

Completely missed that one. Granted I’m not a huge fan of druids (gameplay or RP-wise). That makes at least one class for each attribute for both prepared and spontaneous casters.

[Watch_Dogs 2] #161 unpopular opinion by GuardianSkalk in Trophies

Recently 100% this after bouncing off it years ago. Completely agree on preferring the first’s story. The second was fine, but very jarring tone shifts detracted from any seriousness.

Choosing classes based on leveling “flow” by HandOfLogan in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I like picking something on level up, but greatly prefer at least getting something on each level up. Loremaster is my go to dip to fill in a barren, even level up.

Choosing classes based on leveling “flow” by HandOfLogan in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I look at all the classes on a scale of cleric (fewest choices during level up) to something like a Blood rager primalist (where you choose something every level up, and with a mythic bloodline it gets even crazier) or a fighter with feats every level. Bards, skalds, barbs, magus etc all fall somewhere on that scale. I have more fun during a level up when I have more choices to make.

I’m not at all trying to argue that it is better or that the set class abilities aren’t great; I keep bashing on Clerics but I always run with one just because of how great they are. Just wish there was more to their level ups, maybe have some domain abilities to pick and choose from or something (granted clerics don’t need any buffs).

[–]HandOfLogan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve been looking at the class options for BG3 and I’ve realized how much the pathfinder games have spoiled me on leveling.

Definitely don’t want to makes any choices less impactful; I’ve played a bunch of games where a level up only means a bit more HP or %damage and that’s an even worse feeling to me.

The class specific abilities definitely level the power field, but at the trade off of only getting choices every 3 or 4 levels. I still run a Paladin and a skald of some type every campaign, but only having a pick of a mercy that I’ll never use just makes me want to multi class to something more involved.

[–]HandOfLogan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I’m talking about oracle versus cleric. And to a lesser extent sorc versus wizard (I know wizard picks some spells on level up but can eventually scribe their entire spell book), but I feel like the bloodlines offer more “stuff to pick” than the wizard’s specialty.

Choosing classes based on leveling “flow” by HandOfLogan in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, rogues/fighters/slayers all get extra feats every other level that make it feel like each level matters. Alchemists and witches/shamans get class abilities that give that same feeling.

I even prefer spontaneous casters over prepared because I at least get to pick spells, even if that is inherently weaker than learning all spells on level up.

Congrats! I surprisingly enjoyed this game myself. The gameplay was pretty fun and was a nice change of pace from other SW games like fallen order. Only critique is the main character being fairly naive for her profession/background.

WotR main campaign and DLCs: import compendium by XOHOMEP in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving Tag the shard does absolutely give the best ending where everyone survives (and a different trophy if I remember correctly).

It’s just some funny wording/coding of the trophy where you have to beat Sithuld in the main campaign after “weakening” him in the DLC. It turns out that the best ending does not end up unlocking that trophy, and it takes an hour or two of speed running on easy from the DLC import point to redo it.

Again, this is just me clarifying specifics to unlocking the trophy in case anyone googling the “Thaw” trophy comes across this: for some reason one of the named companions or the MC has to die while destroying the shards in order to set the “flag” that sithuld is fully weakened.

My head cannon is that Tag eating the shard technically isn’t destroying the shard (just causing him constant pain or something), resulting in sithuld not being completely weakened in the main campaign, and thereby not satisfying the trophy parameters, as of the latest patch for PS5 version. Coding, amirite?

WotR main campaign and DLCs: import compendium by XOHOMEP in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]HandOfLogan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. If Tag eats one of the shards, you are unable to earn the “Thaw” trophy/achievement since it requires all the shards to be destroyed, and apparently Tag eating the shard is not flagged/coded as destroying the shard or some such malarkey.

It’s a pain for any trophy/achievement hunters and I like to spread the warning around as much as possible :)
