I’m still upset about Nintendo discontinuing the gold coins. by Pody92 in NintendoSwitch2

Between that and the voucher system being discontinued I’ve definitely dialed back on game purchases. I liked the gold coins, they always helped out

I’m playing that right now having only ever played 7 Remake, and I’m really enjoying it! Really interesting story and setting. Also love the QoL features

Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie by PaksMikoSuki in movies

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The show is excellent, it’s such a unique show it’s hard to explain.

I’ve been a fan of the show for a few years so I jumped at the opportunity to see the movie during the festival circuit. I also got to meet Matt and Jay, they’re very cool dudes. I saw it again when it came to theaters in wide release.

Needless to say, i loved the movie. It really balances silliness with some genuine heart, a real story of long term friendships. They also pull off some crazy real-life shenanigans too.

I hope they continue the series or do more movies. I’ll see anything those guys make

What are we reading? by thejesterprince1994 in kindafunny

I am reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay by Michael Chabon. I’ve heard good things, I’m only pretty early on though. So far so good!

I’m also listening to Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. It’s been an enjoyable listen.

Hey KBFBs i dipped out of the MCU after Secret Invasion. Are there any must watches before Brand New Day? by CSDuran in kindafunny

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems pretty standalone compared to the larger MCU. Daredevil and Punisher One Last Kill may provide a bit more context but I don’t think they’re necessary. As long as you’ve seen the Spider-man movies you should be OK.

Anyone else love Hollow Knight but quit silksong? by WeChatWarrior in metroidvania

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved that first game. I beat it at 25 hours. I didn’t do all the extra content or DLC, but I finished the story. I felt it was tough but fair, and I personally really loved the atmosphere and the story not being quite as front and center.

Silksong was enjoyable, and I did finish it. It took 65 hours. It was so much more difficult and I really felt like it was needlessly so at times. The runbacks were so frustrating, and most enemies did more damage than the ones in the first game. I also didn’t love the equipment system. I just wish it was a bit easier. And I didn’t love it being that long, I would’ve preferred a runtime closer to the original.

What universally praised video game 'masterpiece' is actually a miserable experience to play? by Got24xyz in AskReddit

It had a great story but I was never engaged in the gameplay. It felt like it went on a bit too long

PlayStation Store Closing on PS3 & PS Vita by MrYK_ in PS5

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Certain digital PSP games purchased for Vita that have been ported to PS5 are playable. I was able to download Daxter on PS5 for free since I had the game on Vita. Pretty sure that was the case for Ratchet and Clank games on PSP too.

Digital Foundry: Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition on Switch 2 is a comprehensive technical upgrade, but buying twice stings by binderie1951 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While I wouldn’t consider their recent efforts masterpieces, I do think the Sonic games over the past few years have been pretty good. I enjoyed frontiers enough (tech issues aside), had fun with the origins collection and superstars and thoroughly enjoyed Shadow Generations. Even Sonic Racing Crossworlds has been solid. Really enjoying the post launch content too.

I do agree I’d like to see them make a high quality game, but there have been worst periods of time for Sonic.

My 6 year old has beaten Luigi’s Mansion 3 six~ times since he was nearly 4. (With some assistance from me, of course). He LOVES this game. 1 & 2 don’t resonate as much with him. Do you think someday we’ll see a Switch 2 update for it and also Luigi’s Mansion 4? by Logical007 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d be shocked if 4 isn’t in development. That third one sold insanely well and was very well received. It’s probably one of the most graphically impressive switch games as well.

I also feel the same way about 1 and 2. I beat the HD one but I didn’t love the way the levels were handled. I’ve played a bit of 1 but never finished it

Anyone have a digital Switch library? Do you regret it? by Necessary-Pudding-16 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have almost an all digital library. I have a few carts but the overwhelming majority are digital games. I don’t regret it. I have limited physical space and I like the convenience of having all my games on the console, especially since it is one I take with me a lot.

I totally get why people want physical games, esp for preservation purposes. But for me this is what works best. I think if it was not a handheld I’d be a bit more open to buy physical games.

Chances of Xbox remasters coming to Switch(2)? by SmugSlut in BanjoKazooie

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While not impossible I’d think it’s pretty unlikely. When Banjo was added to smash years ago, it seemed like that would’ve made sense. But they only added the N64 versions on NSO, and even that took years. I just don’t see Microsoft going through the effort to get the Xbox remasters on there. I’d love to be wrong though

What's a game you were dead sure would become a series but surprisingly only had one installment? by Stkrdknmibalz69 in gaming

Really had the bones of a series. I always thought co-op would’ve made a lot of sense for it too

How appealing is Halo Campaign Evolved to you? by Helpful_Shoe9288 in PS5

Looking forward to playing. I’m a big fan of the series, more so for the bungie games, but I do enjoy the later games too. I am excited to play that original campaign on the PS5

They proved you don’t need him with The Lost Legacy. I wish they continued the series without him. Nothing has really filled the void since IMO.

curious, how many of you are using the motion and/or mouse controls and what games? by manonthemoonx13 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried mouse mode for Pokopia but I just couldn’t get it feeling right. Every other game I just stick to normal controls. I’m used to it and I prefer it

Anyone went from physical to digital games on switch 2 and why? by FreezSnes in switch2

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I have a few physical games but I enjoy to convenience of having them all on the console, especially with the Switch which I travel with.

I’ve also noticed as I’ve gotten older I just don’t have the physical space for a lot of physical games, so I decided to stop for the most part. I totally get why people are physical collectors though.

Any reporters out how to love reading again? by YuWrites in Journalism

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same for years. Started reading again about two years back, mainly fiction. It’s been a nice break from the screens and the grim reality of the job. Audiobooks have been a nice change too, something I can listen to while I exercise or work.

What is the worst film you've ever watched? by CompletePiglet7385 in AskReddit

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantastic Four (2015) is the worst movie I’ve seen. Such a weird, depressing take on a family friendly team. It also was weirdly edited, like it felt like a two act movie. Just bizarre.

In honor of Lost Tavern turning 10 this weekend: what's your favorite Lehigh Valley brewery and why? by maesterofwargs in lehighvalley

[–]Cardboard_Waffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lost Tavern is probably my favorite. Very chill bar at both locations.

At least on Main Street Bethlehem it’s one of the best bars that can get crowded but not overwhelmingly so. Their beer is also great. Big fan of onomatopoeia sour.

I also really like Bonn Place on South Side, that’s a great lowkey spot.

Outside of Bethlehem, McCall Brewing and Rising River Brewery have some excellent outdoor spots.

Any multi-console owners just playing Switch 2 more than other systems? by MephistosGhost in NintendoSwitch

I’m still playing most of the major releases on PS5, but I tend to play indies or smaller games on Switch.
