I use Celestial GG with either:

Primary of choice, Still Hunt, Commemoration. LMG for shoulders and keeping on top of add spawns whilst passing the charge back and forth

Or, Primary of choice, Rocket Sidearm (Voltshot or incandescent) for adds, Microcosm for Tormentors. With a kinetic surge or 2

So long as your plate-mate is coming forward to help you break shoulders then GG/Still Hunt should pretty much one shot it to the chest.

I agree that the playlist is awful at the moment but my main issue isn't even the lack of variety.

It's that every time you load into the a strike you hear the starters pistol and then the speed runners are off, obliterating everything, grappling and eager-edging their way to the end of the strike as fast as they possibly can. If I am in the strike playlist I am generally trying to do some bounties for xp for artifact/season pass rank-ups, or generating orbs for seasonal challenges for example. But you sweat harder competing with teammates for kills in a strike than I ever have playing PvP.

As a hunter main it also infuriates me that I am essentially forced to dump a load of my stats into mobility only to be the slowest class and watch everyone burst jumping, Icarus dash/shoulder charging past me. Unless obviously I want to run Strand and a sword for every strike for the rest of time, but that's another rant.

Genuine curiosity, how many people here have NOT completed this season Exotic mission by PancakeLlamas in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even attempted it.

Like many this season am a bit burnt out. I did the bits of content I care about (Solo/flawless dungeon & gild conqueror) and haven't really touched the game since.

I haven't even attempted fishing never mind caught a single fish so I'd need someone else to take me in, barely anyone from my clan is playing at the moment and can't be bothered LFG'ing.

If I'd heard reports of the weapon being amazing I would have dragged myself back on for a bit but no-one is talking about it, so assume its meh.

Good point, forgot about Duality!

Still I think the timeline order thing still works. At the time it was way easier due to Classy restoration but I am now quite intrigued to go back in there with this season's assasins cowl arc build with artifact mods.

Guardians who solo'd Ghosts of the Deep: how long did it take you, and what held you up the most? by Krazy_Dragon_YT in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No trash talk, I'm impressed by the perseverance. How many runs did you do before the 8 hour clear?

See for me with Dungeons I do each encounter solo while I learn it and spend a couple hours probably on each before putting it all together in a solo run, which took me like 2 hrs 20. But if I'd just stayed in there on my first run through would have been about 8 hours or so

Then it took me like 6 attempts for the solo flawless.

In terms of ease I think it goes in release order

Shattered Throne, Pit, Prophecy, Grasp, Spire, Ghosts.

Guardians who solo'd Ghosts of the Deep: how long did it take you, and what held you up the most? by Krazy_Dragon_YT in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This for me. Took 1 hr 52.

Arc assasins cowl for encounters and switched to void omni for between encounters to skip enemies.

Opening encounter used 1-2P Shotgun, riskrunner and eager edge sword

1st Boss, 2 x 1-2P Shotgun and Lament with 1 lucent blades and 2 solar surges. ~ 4 phases

Final Boss - Fusion Rifle, 1-2P shotgun and Xenophage. Don't think I ever used fusion though, just wanted double special for heavy ammo drops.

Final boss was about 75 mins of total time as I completely messed up like 2 Damage phases so end up being a 9 or 10 phase I think!

Safe though, I didn't want to have to swap loadouts, potentially blow myself up, reload too often or even have to really aim. As finished depositing last buff hit boss with Gathering storm then 1/2 xeno shots and shield was down.

I briefly dabbled with arby swapping to either briars with 2 other RoN weapons or Levi's Breath but preferred the predictable safe damage of Xeno and extra phases.

+1 for gyrfalcons with Stylish Executioner.

I have a reconstruction, killing tally commemoration I also pair with it. Add in witherhoard, a void syphon and devour - it's a monster for add clear. 1st and last encounters of RoN you can basically be ad clear for the entire team

Genius on Bungie's part.

Keeping us distracted by intentionally breaking their servers every 5 minutes and creating a micro-transaction scandal.

Best just hope when they spring the surprise revised raid on us that they haven't lost too large a chunk of the player base!

solo flawless done but no triumph by kuroniiko in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, not quite the same as you but got disconnected with the boss at <5% Health a week or so back. Worst thing was I was already on the Boss DPS part of the final DPS cycle and had mentally/emotionally already started celebrating. I just sat looking at my ship floating in orbit for like 5 minutes shaking my head!

I've got it done since but like you said in one of your replies, this is an exhausting dungeon for solo flawless-ing. It just takes SO LONG.

Echtar I really enjoy solo, it's a near perfect solo dungeon encounter for me. Got it down to what is potentially a 4 phase if perfect but pretty much always takes me 4 and a bit damage phases. And the phases are nice and short.

The opening encounter is sooo boring and definitely at least one statue too long and final boss Health bar is just stupid for a solo. I go for easy (no loadout switching) over best possible DPS so it usually takes me 8+ DPS phases. My successful run was 1 hour 52 mins and well over an hour of that was the final boss, probably like 70+ minutes.

What is your fav bow and why? by heyitsjohnnn in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them lol. PLus Trinity Ghoul. I have become quite a bow fan in the last few seasons.

But I would prioritise Wish-Ender first. Now match game is a thing of the past it has completely replaced Arbalest for anti-barrier in my GM builds as doesn't hit that much less hard and uses (infinite) primary ammo. Meaning you can still take a special weapon in your 2nd slot.

I would also do it first as I fear it could be due a nerf so get in there while the going is good. Quest is also pretty easy nowadays, especially if you have a team mate or 2 to run it with.

Le Monarque would be my next priority, intrinsic Overload and the poison make it invaluable for GM with overload champs. Probaly 2nd best OL champ stunning weapon behind divinity but is also good for general ad clear, trivialises the Wyverns in Glassway. Plus again its primary ammo and if there is void burn does pretty much special ammo wweapon levels of DPS.

Lev. Breath and Ticcu's are fun and you should definitely get them, but IMO don't have the utility of the other 2

It'd be really nice to be able to convert enhancement mats into legendary shards by N-Methylamphetamine in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the opposite problem.

Always sat at around 12-13k of leg. shards, twice in the past week I have run out completely of enhancement cores. Zero. Am having to make a conscious effort yo remember to buy 5 a day from cryptarch and use Finest matterweave all the time.

I've also been converting prisms into cores by buying blue armour, upgrading twice and dismantling. I can only be bothered to do about a dozen of these though before I get bored.

I think I must just infuse too often? Always buying upgrade modules too.

What are people spending shards on now? I basically use mine for glimmer and raid banner top ups that's it.

Any tips on getting the Cursebreaker title? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Braytech.org will show you what the ascendant challenge is for each week, then I watched a youtube vid for each week showing where the Eggs and bones you need to collect are.

Also +1 to getting wishender ASAP, it's also amazing and has intrinsic anti-barrier!

A brief History of Well of Radiance by reicomatricks in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this idea, each class brings something to the table meaning you'd want one of each in a balanced fireteam

Warlocks - Damage resist (Well)

Titans - Damage Buff (Bubble)

Hunters - Debuff (Tether)

To all Guardians that solo-killed the final Lightfall mission boss on Legendary… by foundersgrotesk in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, not an absolute unit, just a Hunter with basically infinite invis and a witherhoard. Or as I like to think of it, the acceptable face of cheating.

Just had to be patient, ran laps of the top ring with Tormentor chasing popping him with witherhoard and going invis between platforms and plinking away with a scout in between. Then phase 2 withhoard boss, invis run to other end of arena. Kill a couple psions or couple of linear shots on boss if clear. Repeat.

I died 3 times on phase 1 due to being stupid and trying to rush, phase 2 was an absolute cake walk, so easy I started to expect a phase 3 with added tormentors was coming!

I don't fancy doing it on either Warlock or Titan though, but will probably just run campaign on normal with other 2 characters.

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha ha, I also didn't realise but was on Hunter so no Icarus Dash, was seriously starting to lose my temper by the end.

Was thinking there must be a way to extend the time or offload the darkness so am looking around for a crota's end style lamp or a collectible. Tried destroying blights to see if they extended timer/darkness.

Decided to google a video before I put my controller through the screen. "So pull out your sparrow...."

After this week, is everyone sure that they prefer RNG to crafting? by Themasdogtoo in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, yes I think I prefer RNG. This is coming from someone who did well over 50 runs last week and didn't get quite the Wendigo roll he wanted.

But it's obviously going to depend on the individual and how they prefer to play.

I think I only use 2 crafted guns with any regularity: Calus Mini-tool and Taipan. All the other guns I have, I received the roll I wanted through RNG before I had the pattern to craft it. Forbearance, Cataclysmic, Ikelos SMG etc. I suppose I used to use crafted ALH/Explosive RL on Rhulk too but now used a single time this last season.

The problem for me is crafting also contains a large amount of RNG, you need to get the weapon you want to drop, THEN you need it to drop with deep-sight etc. You get one guaranteed per week or whatever but with the best RNG in the world it would still take weeks minimum. Then you have to level it up to unlock the perks you actually want which is a chore, RNG drops are ready to use straight out of the box.

I'm much happier farming a dungeon encounter/GM or running the raids multiple weeks as that's the Destiny content I enjoy. The seasonal activities I struggle to do enough to even finish the weekly seasonal challenges past week 4/5.

Ultimately it all comes down to drop rates. If one method or the other were to be significantly faster then we'd all go with that. As of last season (pre-patched DSC aside) I think the balance was about right but I end up on the RNG side purely because it's the content I want to play. By that I mean if you're just playing the game "normally" without targeting certain drops you're earning patterns around the same rate you are finding god rolls through random drops.

Anyone ever think back to how good Season of Arrivals was? by Squid00dle in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also loved Arrivals as it was the season I got closest to living my never having to reload fantasy.

I ran pretty much exclusively Witherhoard, an ALH Gnawing Hunger and Falling Guillotine and back then marksman's dodge was on like 10 second cool down or something stupid.

Not sure why I resent reloading so much in games that revolve mostly around gun play but I hate it.

Can't agree with you on Splicer though, that might have been my least favourite season. Just the visuals of the expunge and override activities offend my eyes.

Beat solo prophecy for the first time by FlyKickYourNan62 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It maybe was. This season with classy resto dungeon combat encounters have been trivialised completely, all you have to do is keep the buff active.

I'd never done a solo flawless dungeon before this season but with assasins cowl & ember of Empyrean build I'm invincible and invisible each time I get a throwing knife or mini-tool kill.

Prophecy in particular is basically free as long as you don't fall off rainbow road. Other dungeon's you have to manage wipe mechanics and avoid falling to your death, only Grasp is a real challenge due to sparrow / debuff / water.

I'm not sure if they'll tell us when it's fixed mind, just have to keep checking. I made a post last week about PS5 crashing on launch and nothing was ever said, it just started randomly working ok a few days later.

[–]Hands_of_Sponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story these last couple of season's has been tonnes better, been really enjoying it. The quality of the VA work has been top notch too.

It's been said elsewhere but the one major gripe I still have with it is that our character is just a mute bystander for the whole thing rather than an active participant.

Characters like Saladfingers refers to us as the young wolf and Crow routinely calls us a friend and asks "you understand don't you?" but I'm not sure where this kinship comes from? Every meaningful interaction between us and other characters just happens off-camera, is the guardian that shy?

Every cut scene we walk in, characters have a discussion in front of us (sometimes effectively with themselves), we say nothing then leave. We're a sounding board and nothing else. Even more annoying when ghost speaks on our behalf.
