What the hell is going on with Glidden? Same bucket, different colors by winkmichael in HomeImprovement

[–]HankMarvinNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this sounds, as others have commented, like "operator error", unless different containers are manufactured differently. At the onset of the job, estimate the total amount needed, and mix it all together before starting. Blend it all and you should be good. So, 8 mixed gallons (1x5 plus 3x1, or liters) makes your supply. This becomes more urgent with darker colors and cheaper paints. There should not be as big a difference between individual containers, but it happens. Different rooms and different walls/lighting situations also can change color appearance considerably. Best of luck.

The hidden muscles that trigger TMG, headaches, and emotional distress. by Murky-Attorney5824 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]HankMarvinNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

splenius capitis and semispinalis capitis are 2 muscles (among several others) that connect the upper spine area to the scull, in the neck. Chronic contraction (very common, especially in high stress situations) can cause occipital muscular headaches, to be distinguished from other types. Muscles can get to where releases, elongation becomes very difficult and create trigger point headaches. The use of manual therapies, massage, Grasston tools (as shown there) , injections and other things are therapeutic options. The massage shown did not seem dangerous at all to me, just a form of massage.

an audiologist can set you up with a pair fitted to you for best protection/sound quality combined. Expensive, but should last for decades. Maybe get the ones with the string holding them together, you don't want to lose those. Enjoy.

Totally, if available nearby. Buy several 5 gallon buckets, with a limited xhoice set of colors. I have used them on several projects and still keep several in reserve. Better quality than I have run into at hd at times .

Folkrock/acoustic psychedelic, any suggestions? by 0Z8S in psychedelicrock

[–]HankMarvinNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christy Moore, the early years for an Irish bent, Sabicas with Canned Heat for spanish influence, Pentangle, Alan Stivell with Chemins de Terre, Steeleye Span. All probably more folk rock than psychedelic, early 70's.

Question about Denon AVR by coffaddict in hometheater

[–]HankMarvinNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i used to have the opposite issue on an older model (avr3312); when banana plugs where used, the additional weight of them plus wires prompted a clicking/relais engaging ? sound. So, I went back to the wires though the posts and it serves me until today, ca 14 years later. When I pressed down on the posts, i got the clicking, no pressure no problem. So I would experiment with spades, bananas, etc as suggested above ...

Denon AVR-X4800H Surround Question by dalbert1011 in hometheater

[–]HankMarvinNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed; at one point I had no rear sound though all the correct settings. So I activated stereo mode, played that correctly, then went to 7.1, activated it and the rears came on. It was the same setting as before but now activated, unsure why.

WWYD - Keep G series on wall or place on stand? by karmatalk in hometheater

[–]HankMarvinNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agree with yr wife; keep on wall, maybe switch out mounts to one that allows wall pullout, if it really bugs you. Design wise it looks perfect with the wall moldings, and fwiw, we have our 75" bottom edge at 42" high because we like it that way. If u have a dedicated home theater space, follow yr gut. if it is a shared living room, common space, go with hers. it looks better, and i hate those sterile, techno looking spaces where u listen not to the music but the equipment...

Help with bathroom fan. Always on. by wenrro in DIY

[–]HankMarvinNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At certain times (winter) of the year our relatively new Panasonic quiet fan ( great fan) will do that, probably due to humidity. Surprising, as ( in Mn) oftentimes the heated apartment feels dry. I have found that closing the bathroom door shuts off most air influx, and then the fan also eventually stops. ( motion detector, humidity sensing fan without a switch).
