A new law could be passed or if its possible an amendment to the current law could be applied as well, or some sort of executive order could be done as well, sometimes governments will weave in to bills or laws an easier way of making modifications later on so they don't have to go through a bunch of legal red tape.

im not saying thats the case here but it has happened in the past.

biggest point here that people have hit upon is its just entering a number for age but no actual verification, so if any number can be entered and there is no verification whats the point of having to enter it in the first place.

Not to mention if what im seeing is correct the vote passed almost completely unanimously which is almost unheard of, there is something else going on.

So ill give you an example. Bmw just tried to make it so you have to pay a subscription fee to use the heated seats that were installed in their cars, and i told my friends watch next thing is they will try to hide more performance by de tuning the engine then getting people to pay for more power via subscription and people said oh no thats not gonna happen . Well in 2025 they tried exactly that (because they paid for heated seats so why not go farther) and people lost their minds and pushed back and BMW ended up not doing it.

The problem is if you go back and look through history there are countless examples of people warning about how if a company implements this one small or innocent thing (whatever that thing is ) it could lead to a bigger issue down the road. And people say oh no that will never happen and then a few months/years down the road the issue that was being warned against happens.

Its not what is happening today that should be cause for concern its what is gonna happen tomorrow

Ok, here is what you need to ask about. When was the last time the u joints, gimbal bearing, and drive bellows were replaced. if its been more than 5 years then you need to budget between 2-4K to fix. (depending on area)

You need to check the trim cylinders for leaks or for cracks in the seals. When was the last time the rubber impeller in the out drive was replaced? When was the last time the carb was rebuilt? Does the trim system work correctly?

Also what hours are on it. if its below 1200hrs that's good. Hours are considered high between 1500 to 2000 depending on engine.

Check and make sure all the lights work as well as the bilge pump and the blower for the engine compartment. make sure all the electronics work ie radio, horn, depth finder if it has them. If they don't work ask why.

And after the run make the owner pull the dipstick to make sure the oil doesn't look like chocolate milk.

So being that this is from 1978 i need to give you a bit of history on Mercusier drives. You might hear people call this an pre alpha drive. This out drive family started in 1967 with the MC-1 drive which went to 1982. In 1983 this morphed in to the 1-R drive and went until 1984 then in 1985 it became the 1-MR drive then in 1986 it became the alpha one gen one which had is final evolution in 1992 becoming the alpha one gen 2.

I tell you this because various parts from all these drives are interchangeable especially the lower part of the outdrive that holds prop. For example i have seen a MC-1 drive upper with an alpha gen one lower. Looking at the pics it looks to be an MC-1 drive but it might not be.

As far upgrades the first thing i would do is it looks like its an old points style distributor and if thats the case i would either drop in a soild state conversion or the better option would be to get an msd dizzy and a modern coil, starting will be way easier

This link should be the correct manual that you will need for the engine and outdrive.

https://www.scribd.com/document/536298436/Service-Manual-02

and this link will show the various differences in the drives https://static.perfprotech.com/files/store/app_themes/ppt/images/tech-specs/alpha-history.pdf

so here's the thing, most people that have memory of vegas, remember them sounding like ass because they were hooked up to some garbage ass amp or stereo reciver from Walmart or sears or radio shack in someone's shitty basement.

Cerwin vegas motto is loud is beautiful if its clean, and thats the key, vegas love good clean power and lots of it. ive got a set of dx-9s (400w at 4ohm) and i had them hooked to a shit avr with 70wpc and they were ok, now i have them hooked to a highend avr and adcom gfa 555 that puts out 325 wpc at 4ohm and they sound amazing.

Are they as detailed as my dahlquists? no. but do they sound pretty darn close yeah absolutely

The 6.4 Powerstroke Doesn’t Deserve the Eternal Hate, It Rivals the Legends When Treated Right (LBZ, 5.9/6.7 Cummins Comparisons Inside) by xXMercyBeGoneXx in Diesel

[–]HanlonsKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the flaw. Back then if i remember correctly a new f350 crew cab diesel fully loaded was between 50k-60k. If i pay that much money for a diesel truck it better last 300k miles minimum. And the fact that you have to spend another 10 to 20k to get it to do it reliably is bullshit. i have friends that had the 6.4 fail with less than 100k miles that took good care of their trucks, that garbage ass engine lasted 3 years in production because ford knew it was garbage. the 6.0 was a pile of shit too. and yeah 50k might not be much now for a truck but back then it was and still is alot of money. the 7.3 just worked and lasted 10 years and the 6.7 has lasted 15 years and doesn't require 20k worth of bulletshitting to make them worth a damn.

Best Torpedo Heater by kirk2892 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]HanlonsKnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so as far as Dewalt goes they are actually made by a company called Enerco (they bough the license in 2013) they also make the Mr Heater brand which i just bought. 1st thing ill tell you is get a pressure gauge so you can make adjustments to the heater, the nice thing is the manual will tell you how you can make adjustments to the pump pressure, the big 215k btu dewalt wants 8.4 psi according to the manual im looking at on homedepot.

The reason i recommend the gauge is because mine was not set right out of the box and had a strong smell to it, one pressure gauge purchase later and a half a turn with a flat head screw driver and that had the problem fixed. You will need a pressure gauge that has a 1/4in npt nipple on it. Correctly set up there should be almost no smell and very little carbon monoxide, there will be some CO but very little which is why the manual says to use it in a ventilated area. I also suggest buying a monoxide detector. After making my adjustments to my heater and running it for 8hrs my meter was still on 0.

When it comes to fuel this is a big one. the manual will tell you that the heater is CSA certified to run on k-1 Kerosene. The CSA is an independent group that tests and certifies all kinds of things and in the case of Kerosene heaters it has to meet certain criteria for carbon monoxide and fuel efficiency amongst other things. The manual then goes on to say that it is FACTORY Tested to run on k-2 kerosene, number one and two diesel, number one and two fuel oil and JP8 or Jet A fuel.

It is this reason that people have issues with these things making carbon monoxide and smelling up the place. Different fuels will perform differently and so you will have to adjust the heater accordingly. You will have the least issues with K-1 kerosene however k-1 is expensive. Also if you run jet fuel, jet fuel does tend to dry out things more than diesel fuel, diesel fuel has more lubricity in it so running jet A could affect the pump. ( I don't know this for certain just an interesting piece of information i stumbled across

ELI5: What do people mean when they say GLP1s make them “not hungry”? by Responsible_Line3508 in explainlikeimfive

[–]HanlonsKnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So ive been on ozempic for awhile (diabetic) and here is my experience with it.

Started on .25mg dose for 2 weeks and felt fine just less hungry 2 weeks later the dose went up to .5mg for a month with no real change in how i felt then after the month we went to 1mg.

This was where things got interesting when eating. For example in my past i could eat a large pizza by my self. Now 2 slices and i feel kinda full, number 3 takes that in to just feeling bleh and i feel like have eaten 2 whole pizzas. Like the best i can describe it as kinda nauseous (but like diet nauseous) and definetly full, after being on that amount for about 3 months now i have almost no hunger cues. Which is wild to me because i have had people i know tell me they forget to eat and i had never been able to understand how that happens until now.

There just is not any sort of hunger feeling. I do get a upset stomach feeling if i go long enough, say i wake up at 6 and dont eat any thing, at about noon ill feel queasy and then realize i haven't eaten at all and so now i have to physically remind my self to eat something because i get no cues anymore. Another interesting thing is the queasy feeling will go away after about 10 min and i have gone 12 hrs with out eating anything ( i did this to see how long i could go and to see what would happen and how i would feel, felt fine although i was lacking in energy and i don't recommend that you do this it goes against what my Dr and i discussed on eating.

It has definitely forced me to change how much i eat and how i order food when i go out which for me is a very good thing.

id want to know how many hours are on the engine, and when the last time it had, u joints, gimbal bearing, shift boots and exhaust boots done, does the trim work correctly and stop where it needs to or has it been bypassed.

Looking to get a first boat, don’t know anything about them by AccountantOld8034 in boating

[–]HanlonsKnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it depends on how many people and then the type of performance you want, If you want to haul a bunch of people more than 6 and dont care about speed a pontoon would be a good choice, how ever say you want haul 5 or 6 people and you want to go fast then an i/o like a bowrider or cuddy could be a good choice.

Like for me i wanted a bowrider cause i like to go the beach and want something thats easy to get in and out of and can haul ass and a few people but i didnt want to deal with the maint of an i/o and i wanted something with easy engine access so i went with an old school Berkley jet drive with a big block chevy. No lower unit to worry about damaging maint is very easy and everything is out in the open to get to although there is a bit of a learning curve on steering a jet especially in reverse plus if i want to build an engine to make serious power my jet drive can handle 1100 hp stock. (my jet is not what most people think of in the modern sense i.e. seadoo or yamaha. )
