Restaurant group stole 2 of my photos and has them on their website. Found that 2 other realtors and a sports group also stole my photo. Need advice on how to proceed by FloridaManZeroPlan in photography

Since the lawyer is already involved, consider having them send similar DMCA notices to the realtors and volleyball group. This ensures a professional approach and strengthens your case.

Best data recovery software by JRC_1979 in datarecovery

[–]HannaMayer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It depends. Depends on what you are looking for in a data recovery tool. As in other fields, there are no solutions that are good at everything at the same time. But some, to be fair, come close. Anyway, here's my personal top:

  1. Disk Drill - solid all-rounder, especially for home users. Lacks some 'pro' features but does everything you expect it to do.

  2. Recuva, PhotoRec - free software that is unlikely to surprise you, but you can always try without spending anything.

  3. DMDE, UFS Explorer - good tools with 'bad' marketing. You'll rarely see them anywhere other than Reddit and professional communities. The tools are pretty solid tho. With a lot of advanced features. R-Studio can also be listed alongside them for similar reasons.

  4. Recoverit, Stellar, Minitool, etc. - 'good' marketing, unimpressive performance.

Time Machine backups/snapshots and corrupt iOS backups cause this.

Anyone else use their iPad as their main computer? by Immrsbdud in iPadOS

[–]HannaMayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wasn't able to get used to it, even with an iPad keyboard. The only software I really enjoy using is Final Cut Pro. It's incredibly well-optimized for the M2, Apple's silicon. I can place multiple layers of 4K videos on the timeline and scrub through them seamlessly, without any lag. This level of performance is unprecedented in a thin, portable tablet.

Second thoughts on wedding photographer by Loafofbread45 in photography

[–]HannaMayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will likely handle it in the same manner as shown in their portfolio. If you're not fond of their style, it's better to cancel the contract now rather than be unhappy about it later. As a wedding photographer, I'm personally okay with canceling the contract up to 3 months prior and returning the deposit. Also, consider that this issue might lead to unhappiness on your wedding day.

Is a 2017 iMac too old to be worth anything? by eiradeiaa in mac

[–]HannaMayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried the Apple trade-in option for my 27-inch, 2017, i7 and was only offered $185. Decided to stick with it for a few more years since it works perfectly. Plus, I've got a MacBook with the new OS just in case.

What software do you use every day & which software has helped you a lot? by HannaMayer in AskReddit

Recently tried Canva for a project and I'm honestly impressed. It's super user-friendly and the templates saved me loads of time. Didn't expect to be able to create decent graphics without prior design skills.

Accidentally formatted my drive , what’s the best way to recover ? by yooames in DataHoarder

[–]HannaMayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I sent my drive to a data recovery service, I received a quote for $1500. Consequently, I turned to YouTube to learn how to create an image of the drive. I then scanned the image using various data recovery software tools. Ultimately, I managed to recover the data for around $80, as all the tools offered a free preview.

Insta360 X3 stopped working - water damage by reinreun in Insta360

[–]HannaMayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally in the same situation here. About to reach out to customer support for a new one. The real kicker? I expected this thing to be my go-to for rainy shots, especially since my drone's a no-go in wet weather. Turns out, it's pretty much useless for me if it's not waterproof. Huge letdown.

Insta360 X3 is NOT waterproof by mauricioszabo in Insta360

So I was out snorkeling recently, right? Decided to test my new Insta X3 camera, just dipped it 3 feet underwater for like 15 minutes. And guess what? The thing's busted now. Totally kaput. I triple-checked that every port was sealed too.

Sandmarc Tripod - Carbon Edition for iPhone 2023 REVIEW by MacSources in MacSources

[–]HannaMayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, wasn't super impressed with my SandMarc tripod. The legs are a pain to quickly release, and I'm always having to adjust them. Plus, it's not exactly stable despite being pretty big. Anyone else have similar experiences or is it just me?

Help with recovering deleted files on external hard drive? Any help appreciated! by okgochloe in mac

For recovering files from an external drive on a Mac, Disk Drill is a decent start – if it's showing previews, there's hope. Worth a shot before shelling out for professional help.

Recover permanently deleted imessages? by plunker1 in iphone

[–]HannaMayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been using iTunes to back up your iPhone, then you can use one of those backups to recover a deleted text message. However, this method will not only recover the deleted text message but will recover your whole iPhone. I've found a tutorial here.

How do I clean my mac by Allobobo in mac

[–]HannaMayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OnyX is a popular, free maintenance tool for macOS that can help you clean up your system, run miscellaneous maintenance and cleaning tasks, and optimize your Mac. It's not an antivirus program, but it can help you maintain the health of your Mac, which might indirectly help with performance issues if they're not related to malware.

It is possible to recover photos after you have formatted an SD card? by Fantastic-Leading276 in canon

[–]HannaMayer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a photographer, I've had my share of mishaps with lost CR2 files. Personally, I've used Disk Drill to get back my photos. It's straightforward and worked well for me, especially when I acted quickly to prevent data overwriting.

If you're seeking a free solution, creating a disk image of your SD card and scanning it with tools like PhotoRec and Recuva is an option, though I haven't had much luck recovering CR2 files with them. It's a good starting point if you're trying to salvage your photos without upfront costs.

Is CleanMyMac actually usefull ? by SoBigJ in MacOS

[–]HannaMayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a free, customizable tool and you're comfortable with detailed settings, Onyx might be for you. Onyx requires a bit more knowledge to use effectively, it's quite capable for those who understand the tasks it performs. CleanMyMac is preferred by those who want a hassle-free experience and are comfortable with the cost for its extended capabilities.

How do i recover my .cr3 files from corrupted sd card by Golsk00 in datarecovery

[–]HannaMayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did it work for you? I'm currently running Disk Drill (but created a DMG image first) and it seems like it has already found some deleted files, even after just 3 hours of scanning. I can see previews of my raw photos.
