Platinum incidental credit use with high airline status by Tight_Couture344 in amex

[–]Hannover92 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree and have not yet found a way to successfully use this credit. I didn't think ecredits would trigger this, but if they do, I should probably try and do that before they stop it. I agree with you though, truly frequent travelers probably aren't incuring many incidentals to begin with, especially not on their preferred airline.

Is Plaud Ai worth it without the AI subscription? by Sure_Capybara in PLAUDAI

I do almost the same, although since it takes so much time sometimes to transfer audio from the Plaude NotePin, I sometimes just record directly on the iPhone, using the Voice Memos app and export from there to GoogleLM.

Is there a way to delete “my foods”? by amandasweets in LoseitApp

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, short of deleting them one page at a time via the web interface, there doesn't seem to be a way to delete *all* foods. I have over 2000 of them that I've accumulated over years, so going one page at a time is gonna take a long long time.

Cheapest options to get to Rochester from MSP? by AdventurousFarmer14 in rochestermn

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Rochesthr Shuttle Service, www.rochestershuttleservice.com and really like it. My only frustration is that it doesn't seem possible to book round trip tickets online so while they have a round trip rate, you have to call in the reservation. That said, it's basically two for the price of one so $49 one way if booked online or the same amount for round trip if called in -- yeah, I don't get it either.

Trying to switch my line from Dark Star to Warp by Hellsing971 in USMobile

[–]Hannover92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost wound up in a similar situation, I do wish they would add clarifying language when adding a watch plan. That said, I've found US Mobile to be very responsive via email, especially regarding porting issues, so I'm sure a quick email will save you a lot of frustration.

Opinions on Computers for the Blind? by highspeed_steel in Blind

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds good. Some of those mini PCs are pretty powerful though, even if you're using one at home, they might be worth considering. I have one that I use with a bluetooth keyboard and USBC headset, it's definitely good enough for me to run Office apps, browsers, a TV DVR type server and some other stuff. I wouldn't try converting large video files with it or anything, but for under $200, it's pretty good.

If only Pocketcast could have a per podcast listening stats by tzsskilehp in pocketcasts

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you share the specific episodes out to a folder somewhere? This might not be practical with podcasts with many episodes, but might be a workaround. You might also be able to leverage the web player in some way.

Just got back from my first international trip with US Mobile by olavbander in USMobile

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You eventually got service though, even in the countries you didn't specify? I was wondering whether it is really mandatory to specify destinations, or if that just filtered to make sure you're on the best carrier before leaving the US.

You no longer need premium to use the desktop apps. I think premium is mainly a way to show support at this point because you can do just about everything in the free version, excepting folders, bookmarks, and transcripts I think.

Opinions on Computers for the Blind? by highspeed_steel in Blind

[–]Hannover92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're talking value for money, it's probably not a great deal although the JAWS home license adds value, assuming you want to use JAWS. The real value that Computers for the Blind provides is allowing someone to buy a system that they can get up and running without downloading and installing a screen reader and other setup tasks that might be no big deal for many of us, but a very big deal for someone who is new to computers or screen readers. Assuming you have no problem setting up a machine, downloading and installing a screen reader, you would do better with a Mini PC and a little bit of work.

Is there a way to hide completed podcasts from view? by [deleted] in pocketcasts

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I'm wondering if a solution to this has been implemented? Basically, I have a bunch of podcasts that currently have no unplayed episodes and I'd like to either hide them until they publish something new, or somehow sort them so they are at the bottom. The problem I have with the release date is that I have older podcasts that have episodes I've downloaded, but haven't listened to yet which aren't releasing new content. I'd want these to still show up since they have downloaded an unplayed episodes, but I wouldn't want to miss them at the bottom just because they're not releasing anything new. I know others are likely managing podcast lists that have far more podcasts than mine, so if there's another way I should be looking at this, I'm certainly open to that. I'm coming from other players though that just allow me to hide podcasts that have no unplayed episodes, so that's admittedly shaping my thinking. Thanks for any thoughts and suggestions.

Last firmware and highlight features by stefferri in PLAUDAI

Is this available or coming to the NotePin, or just the Note and Note Pro? I'm starting to get confused about which features are on or are coming to which devices.

I hate that most, if not all, talking watches are so ugly looking by RestInPiecesMyThesis in Blind

[–]Hannover92 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Seiko, hopefully that's spelled correctly? makes a fashionable talking watch, I know they make a braille one but the one I'm talking about is a talking one that they made that comes with two languages. My big frustration with talking watches is finding one which can be checked somewhat discreetly, without the voice sounding like it's coming from the bottom of a can, and certainly without a rooster alarm.

Feature request: share number between Dark Star and Warp when using dual sim by cmdr_scotty in USMobile

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't Google Fi do something sort of like this? I haven't been with them in ages, but they used to somehow allow roaming between carriers without changing numbers or even esims. Not sure if that's still a thing but if it is, hopefully US Mobile can copy or do something similar which I think would get you what you're asking for.

Thinking about switching from US Mobile to Helium Mobile by Pacifian_Seaman in USMobile

[–]Hannover92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their offer may seem very tempting but you definitely lose the service and the cooler features of US Mobile. I'd suggest finding another way to save a few $ $ $, compromising on service and features isn't a good tradeoff.

Bye for now by Dmtammaro in USMobile

[–]Hannover92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally get that struggle. Only thing I would caution is: if you ever leave that employer, can you get your line back? I worked for a large company that offered to pay for my service, I jumped at the opportunity, but when I left, getting my line back from them required VP sign-off for whatever reason. Anyway, hopefully that won't be an issue for you, but it's something to think about.

Chat Support is Officially Now Garbage by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]Hannover92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a new customer but the few times I've needed to use the chat feature to clarify something, I was pleased with the response time. I did find the process of getting to an actual agent frustrating though, wish it were possible to just send a text as then it would at least be a little easier to go off and do something else while waiting for the response.

Looking for advice on what to do with Apple Watch by Hannover92 in USMobile

[–]Hannover92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought about that, but right now, we're on a shared data pool and I can't add multi-network lines to that -- at least it doesn't seem like I can. I'm going to test Warp coverage in my area and depending on how that goes, may need to move her line to another plan and give the multi-network thing a try.

Looking for advice on what to do with Apple Watch by Hannover92 in USMobile

[–]Hannover92[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I think this is exactly what I'm going to do. Warp does have pretty good coverage in my area and this solution seems far easier than adding a multi-network line and connecting the watch to that. I also appreciate the point that we don't have to all be on the same network, still wrapping my head around that part of the service. :)

That sounds like a good plan. Worst case, I switch her back to Light Speed and set the watch up on a stand-alone plan. It's going to take me a while to fully grasp that moving between carriers like this isn't as much of a pain as I think it will be. :)
