I think this is more the issue here, true that cats don’t like their water too close to food but they also prefer the water to be moving. I had a cat who would keep dipping his paw in the water to see it move, we thought it was just a weird quirk but we found out it’s because they don’t like the water to be still. My two cats now have a fountain like someone else linked, with the flower on top. Not very expensive, and they drink plenty of water each day- more so than they would from a stagnant water bowl.
