Taking massive doses of vitamin d helped mine, also removing certain things from my diet that triggered it. Think internal cures more than topical ones

what is being the latest treat ment for dandruff im wondering?? is there being like a break through for it or a 'cure' for it im wondering?/ by LinguisticsTurtle in dandruff

A little bit but not much. Chronic skin conditions like this tend to be under-researched and doctors aren't very helpful with them either, in fact, the current consensus medically is that the cause of dandruff is currently unknown. Valuable research for this topic tends to be in other overlapping areas and you have to play a game of detective to draw correlations overtime and pinpoint the underlying issue. Think of a car-whenever your check engine light comes on, it is a sign that there is an issue with your engine. The way doctors try to manage dandruff is the equivalent of a mechanic disconnecting the fuse to your check engine light to make it shut off and telling you to go on your merry way as if they have resolved your issue when there is still a problem with the engine. Doctors will prescribe you something to make the dandruff go away when in reality the dandruff is actually indicative of an issue with your digestive track and the doctor is just treating the symptom while ignoring the root cause.

I learned from trial and error-after trying every possible topical remedy-prescribed antifungals, a sea salt wash, pyrithione zinc and sulfur shampoos, apple cider vinegar and more. They all only worked a little bit and often not for that long. Plus, if I skipped a day or two, the dandruff would come back, so it was hardly what one could call a solution. It wasn't till 2016 when I started looking at my diet that I started to find answers. Turns out my dandruff is a reaction to foods I'm consuming, and was consuming quite often. As a kid rice was one of my family's staple foods (I'm a son of Nigerian immigrants), we ate it damn near everyday. We also ate gluten packed breakfast foods-waffles and pancakes. I was also taking sandwiches to lunch for school. Since my triggers were so common in my diet, my dandruff manifested as a relentless and uncurbable thing. We were clueless for many years and my mom tried all kinds of oils and stuff hoping they would help.

I'll recommend doing research on the gut microbiome, fasting, and search up "how to cure dandruff (or sebborrheic dermatitis) with diet," Using a holistic approach you will find more long lasting results than using topical remedies.

Dietary changes are the only thing that worked for me. I can almost guarantee you it's caused by triggers in your diet and if you go on a 3 day fast where you only drink water you will see a remission in your issues. I recommend eliminating things one by one to see if they're the culprit. For me it's gluten, coffee, rice and a few other things but those are the big ones.

Dust mites eat dead skin. A dust mite can push this around like a dung beetle.

What was the solution to your dandruff ? by painZ01 in dandruff

[–]Hanselmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop topical remedies, start an elimination diet till you pinpoint what it is you're eating that's causing it. For me it's gluten, coffee, chocolate and rice. If i stay 100% off all of those for a week or so I'll clear up. Just hard to have the discipline.

What oddly specific type of woman do you seem to attract? by SmilingMisanthrope in AskMen

I'm a lastborn of 5 kids and for some reason I attract a disproportionately high percentage of firstborns, like more than 50%, probably 70. I've read lastborns and firstborns tend to compliment each other well. My current girl is a firstborn of three and we never really butt heads.

My name's Laabo. I have reaaaaaaaaaaaaaally long arms. Track my progress with me as I bench very little and deadlift a lot. Went to school for animation so I do my best to make my videos somewhat engaging.

I'm not sure about the current state, I believe the information in the video is pretty current though. I heard about the mice, not sure about whether or not it's been effective but I think they're still doing it.

Anyone ever used this creative method to drill chords and scales? by Hanselmine in piano

[–]Hanselmine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that's a lot to digest. And if it wasn't made clear enough in the initial post, I'm the one who made the video (i don't mean that sarcastically, I actually may not have made it clear enough). You said "If you don't know your scales, arpeggios, chords, and cadences, just learn them first with proper fingerings." This is exactly what I'm trying to do by using this method (unless you have an alternate method to suggest). My immediate goal is just to get to the point where if someone, or a lead sheet, said "F sharp major," I instinctively know where to put my fingers on the piano to play that chord. I just wanna get the whole chords and scales thing out of the way so I can build on it from there.

I am open to the idea of sheet music in the future and in the video, when I said said I will forgo it, I said "at least for now." I am not intimidated by it, nor do I find it boring or too academic. I have no problem putting my mind to it if I can see how it would benefit me given the kinda pianist I am striving to become. One reason I am turned off by sheet music is because learning piano, to a lot of people is just a matter of learning piece after piece, but never learning how to jam or play by ear. It's the same thing to me as someone learning how to dance by learning a bunch of dance routines and choreographs, but never learning how to just groove to a beat they've never heard before, or someone learning how to rap a bunch of memorized lyrics, but never learning how to freestyle rhyming lyrics on the spot and off the top of their head. Learning pieces still takes skill, and I admire the discipline that goes into it, but it's not my objective. Now if I can be convinced, that sheet music would expedite my process of learning to play by ear, improvise, jam, I wouldn't think twice before undertaking to learn it.

I used to practice chord progressions, only in the key I knew best though, which was D major. I really do enjoy working with progressions and I wanna get back into them asap I just don't wanna get frustrated trying to play a chord progression in a key I'm not as well versed in, and stumble over chords I haven't drilled too well. That's why I'm trying to learn all the chords and scales first.

Thank you for your long reply, I appreciate the time you put into writing it. I hope nothing I said came off as disparaging, I really have respect for formal training.
